Games like Torchlight and Diablo just scream for the Wii style controls.
I hope they get Torchlight on the Wii Shop.
I lol'd
I take it you disagree? I just cannot see how it would be enjoyable to play a game like Torchlight with the Xbox 360/Play Station controllers (Or even the Gamecube controller, for that matter). It's clear to me why D2 didn't go to the consoles after D1's foray into the console market.
Yes I disagree... to the point that I thought you were being sarcastic. I just imagine wiggling the wiimote in a lightning like shape to cast lightning bolt. A "C" shape with a lightning bolt shape at the end of it for chain lightning. A "E" shape with a lightning bolt shape at the end for energy shield and so on... it would never work.
And you know they would add the useless mechanics like jiggle the wiimote up and down to cast a TP, roll it in circles to view dropped items, throw it into your TV to end the game. I foresee huge fails.
IMO the wii is great for casual games and party games like WarioWare, but when it comes to one that's as involved as Diablo or Torch, there's no chance it will work. The games their selves would feel more at home on the PS3 and 360, but i do agree sure the controllers would be a little awkward.. but far more natural than on the wii.

Nice, guess you only played casual games then.
I'll take your opinion as just another person who never played the Wii.

And this part shows me that I am correct in my assumption.
I wouldn't like TL on any console. I like it with a keyboard. Although, I guess you can use keyboards with consoles now, but I think it's fine on PC. And...it is going to be multiplayer you know, right? (@ post 2) TL2 is going to have LAN and player matchmaking, I believe, and then there's the MMO which is still a ways off.

My roommate has a Wii, and I will be the first to admit that I have played maybe a whole 10 games on it and 2 of them were out of the realm of causal (although I do have a lot of fun with the occasional party game). I cant get into the Wii because I feel like it has both a huge loss of control with the Wiimote and a library of games I really cant see my self playing. I have sinked countless hours into my PS3 and love it dearly, and if torch light 2 ever game out for both PS3 and Wii I would completely ignore the Wii version wile i figure out if i would prefer it on my PS3 or my computer.
I find really funny how people just troll diablo and tl possibilities for cvonsoles w/o thinking in ADAPTATIONS. Here are some suggestions:
1) your character does not need the cursor to move. He will move like in any other third view game. Wich is good cause you already have a fixed camera.
2) The PS3 controller have enough buttoms thnx. You can easilly bind all your 8+ commands, wich is enough in this kind of game.
3) Melee attacks, character centered skills like novas and shouts, buffs and summons would not need any cursor. You tap the binded buttom, they happen, like in any other console game. Very efficient !
4) Attacks that really requires aiming (ranged aoe, bolt-like ranged attacks) would have a special cursor. This cursor would be screen centered, controlled by the right analog and quickly travel across the screen. He would aim this kind of skills for you. He would also be used to pick up loot in the screen.
Advantage over key board + mouse system:
1) You can move and attack at the same time. Much more freedom.
2) The gameplay differences between melee and ranged are much deeper in this system.
3) Off-line coop is possible w/o multiple machines, just multiple controllers. EPIC.
Disvantage:
1) PC fan boys will whine hard. Bleh.
2) You can only have 4 ranged "cursor needed" skill cause those would be played at the right and left triggers. More the that would requires you to move one of your fingers out of the analog, wich is sign of terrible gameplay. Maybe add the option to bind a skill on taping two triggers simultaneously could solve this problem.
3) PC fan boys will whine hard. Bleh.
So,TL will be a much cooler game on PS3/360's controler, believe me. Maybe when Jay Wilsom play TL on his Xbox he will realise that and beg Blizz SE to invest on an D3 console version ;D
Now you guys can flame me hard !

"In time the hissing of her sanity
Faded out her voice and soiled her name
And like marked pages in a diary
Everything seemed clean that is unstained
The incoherent talk of ordinary days
Why would we really need to live?
Decide what is clear and what's within a haze
What you should take and what to give" - Opeth

No zig zags or whatever you were talking about required.
Disclaimer: Zig Zag Character movement may be required to escape death from a boss.
