I am a nerd too, but there are varying levels of nerdness, and the people who generally show up to midnight releases are at least 2 factors of nerdiness above me.

Do you want to get scammed? Perhaps a nice keylogger?

So your a nerd but those who show up at midnight releases nerd harder than you huh? Sorry to break it to you but to non-nerds [and most nerds] the distinction is non-existent [save for a few 'extremes']
I actually read the entire discussion, just made me lol
I wish I could actually go to the midnight event. Why? its nice meeting people who live in the same neighborhood as you and exchange battle tags to play later on ^^. Maybe even meet a diablo-chick!
Anyway. I live upstate so I can't get it. I have a friend who's picking up the game for me at midnight, and will call me with my Collectors Edition key so I can just install via the installer when servers go live <_<..
I actually hope we will all install the game at the same time, since the friends I'm playing with are going to get a physical copy and I don't want to keep them waiting, even 15 min is a lot of time to wait imo ;s

But out of curiosity, what are those 'factors'?
Collecting Legos in your 30s, being a NERF Gun enthusiast past the age of 10, being a Bronie... the list goes on. Playing computer games isn't even that nerdy anymore... but it IS a little nerdy-ER than playing console games, as that's gone super mainstream.

ha , it's the exact opposite where I live. computer games gone super mainstream and consoles still a little 'nerdy-er'.
That's good! I LOVE PC gaming a lot more than console gaming anyways, regardless of what people think! But common, you have to admit that knowing how to build a PC from the ground up requires a lot more nerdyness and tech-savvyness than pushing a big round button and picking up an Xbox controller

you see, the thing about computer games being mainstream and less 'nerdy-er' is that knowing your PC parts and technical stuff is considered an asset especially for males. [I'm one of the 'ignorant' types here] Kinda like knowing your hockey teams... okay, that was a bit far-fetched but you get my point.
The misinformation overload in this thread amuses me. Can't we talk about the reasons of going or not going to a midnight release or party? I won't be going to one. The only reason I waited for a retail copy for SC2 was because the pre-order got me into beta.

Some people tell me I'm going to hell. I just let them know that I've already packed my bags!

well my original intentions were just for people to share what they're doing because they can't go to a launch event. but its like field of dreams with trolls in the thread. if you start it, they will troll.
