Half of you bitched and moaned (along with me) about the absurdity of hotswapping.
You don't... and you shouldn't be spending as much time as you claim to be doing skill swapping.... why is changing a single skill here or there that budensome that you caim that it ruins the game?
I have beta, and i don't mind the skill system ONE bit (other than the burden of trying to switch the bind of 2 skills you already have selected).
Also... even for a seasoned veteran...I AGREE with their UI. I was able to get my completely non gamer wife to play and enjoy the beta. Hell she even agreed to playing with me upon release.
to summarize switching 1 skill ... here ... or there... is not that cumbersome... so just STFU
dude your gonna get so flamed by the he-man-women-haters-club of the new UI
/agree

what about the ones that dont want to "swap their skills" and jsut want to switch the buttons? what about switchign from mouse 1 to button 1 2 or 3? Thats a serious issue that has come up with the new UI, along with not being able to see all skills.
These people are not whining, they are voicing their issues with a system that a lot of us, who have been following d3 from when it was first announced, find to be flawed.

I actually agreed with you on that. Swapping the buttons easier would be nice... i don't like having to use placeholders to switch buttons either.

yeah, but still theres the issue of not being able to see all the skills on one screen, and having to go through multiple menus, it just seems bad. Then, you also cant check the runes of a spell you already have selected, if that spell is on another key.
Theres just lots of issues that should be fixed.. I just dont like people calling others whiners =)

The thing is Molster - Swappng skills shouldn't be as easy as it is anyways. In my opinion adding the tabs during elective mode makes the issue of hotswapping slightly less apparent. Putting everything on one screen makes it so its just BOOM - Done. and you can flip flop every 15 seconds.
I honestly agree with blizzard in this UI. It makes it easier to teach the game to new players. By breaking the skill UI into groups it makes it so players kind of have to pick a somewhat viable skill combination (without elective mode). It also helps to add a flavor to each class. Now instead of having pure summon witch doctors... you get a jack of all trades witch doctor.
While i personally will be using elective mode... and will be doing my own build... I can understand why blizzard did what they did.
As for calling other people whiners. Thats alot of what I see and what i have also personally done :-D.
Well it seems that my initial idea of how we should swap skills might actually be desirable by some?
The idea was that you'll have a cooldown of about 30 minutes between switching skills. Even maybe 10 or 15. But when you want to switch you have like 5 minutes to play around with the skills before they become "permanent". That way you have some time to tailor it out and try it and then still a small penalty when finally choosing the skills.
What GladHeHasBeta is really saying:
nobody say anything bad about the game development (like we're encouraged to do, BY BLIZZARD ITSELF); nobody voice your opinion if it challenges anything; we're always stuck with everything we're given; stop caring about the sequel to a game that you grew up playing, they're just games (that you have spent a lot of money on and devoted hours upon hours playing).
i explained several times thats exactly what im not saying kid. dont be an imbecile and read the thread before talking out your ass. please and thank you <3333
Buddy, you've been spreading this kind of crap over the forum for a while now. I don't need you to explain yourself because I already understand what you're doing: you're the one talking out of your ass because you really have no idea whatsoever if Blizzard will change the UI or not.
Keep your crappy rhetoric to yourself if you're not going to provide any constructive opinions.
The joke will be on you if/when Blizzard actually does change the UI and all your naysaying is wrong (which, if there are so many people frustrated with the UI, as well as other changes, there's a great chance Blizzard will change some things).

Ill never get use to it, every time I have to open it up, and hit that dumb arrow until I find the right spell, I get mad
OMG YES. What's even worse for me if that you have to hit 'ACCEPT' at the bottom, and I always forget and have to reopen the window, click through to find the spell, etc. Yes, it's most definitely a trivial thing, but it is a terrible design. And, I know things change over the course of development, but the current skill UI seems to go against everything the DIablo team has talked about online and at Blizzcon.
A good point to bring up is the ability to make builds at lvl 60 in game. With WoW you can't really use the in game talent tree to set up different builds, you will most likely go to wowhead or other sites to experiment.
With so many more choices that there is in diablo 3, the ui should definatly be set up in a way where you can indeed experiment a lot on the fly. With that i think the most important change that needs to take place, is that you should be able to swap abilities still on cool down, so the cd just restarts when you change to something else.
People saying they refuse to play because of the UI change, or having lost their desire to play because of the UI change...get out of here. Don't bring this childish bullshit on these boards.
Sorry you don't have any fucking standards and call people childish for having them. Yes, this UI is beyond horrible to that point. There are at least 10 irrefutable arguments as to why it is.

Yes, the current UI is horribly designed beyond belief,
BUT is it really ruining the game and a game-breaker?
If people really hate it so much and Blizzard refuses to change the UI,
then they need to speak up with their wallets and not buy the game.
(Assuming these people see the UI as a game-breaker)

It's amusing that people get so bent out of shape when posts like mine clearly state:
1. I love the rest of the game outside of the UI.
2. I still plan to play the game a ton.
3. I think the game is amazing.
I just have no desire to play the first thirteen levels over and over again because it is a giant pain in the ass to move your skills around. This won't be nearly as big of an issue later in the game when you don't swap your skills as often and you have all six buttons opened up.
But it isn't even that... they should just allow you to drag and drop. There is absolutely no reason to disable that, it makes no sense.
I would say it's the worst user interface I've had to deal with in a long time, but I'd be lying, because skyrim was exceptionally bad as well. "Oh you have a keyboard with 60 buttons? You'll love our how our entire skills and inventory system is contained on one UI that you can only control with your mouse. Want to craft, that'll be 8 different button presses, click, F, enter, F, click, slide bar, enter."
But being slightly better than that is like winning a swimming contest against someone who drowned.

Are there any problems with this i oversee? :/

WTB.
Put a skill in slot 3, and put a different skill in slot 4. Done?
Now swap them. Let us know how that goes.
