Since four of the staff got invited to beta for first phase, I was wondering if there was going to be some effort to collaborate between staff coverage and some lucky users who get in for the first few phases of beta. Things like trying out and documenting rune effects for the wide range of skills would be a good idea, among other things, which them four alone can't hope to do. This way, people who want to help show stuff off could try out specific things to show us, and we could expand the wiki, etc...
I suppose I'm just being optimistic that a few of us common-folk will get lucky enough and win the Blizz lottery in the first stages... by the end I'm sure people on this site will be in the beta

I think you don't realize this about the beta:
- Beta is a VERY small portion of Act 1 - about 2-3 hrs in length.
- Beta's max level is probably 13
- Runestones will not be encountered yet
- Only 4 tiers of skills will be unlocked - not much to experiment with!
- PvP will not be implemented for beta.
- Only the Blacksmith artisan will be available
- Only the Templar companion will be available
This beta is primarily to test out the server stability. They will throw in waves of beta invites across multiple platforms to test different computer setups... but what they are really trying to do is stress-test their servers.
Edit:: My best guess is that the game is fully polished and ready for production/shipping. Everything is 98% final. Beta-testers will not get to encounter more than the first act up to the first boss (King Leoric).
For anybody who gets into the beta, there are a few things you can do to help.
1. Start a blog. We have a dedicated section for users to create blogs. If enough people create some blogs, I will post a recap highlighting these blogs for other users to see. This way, you can write whatever you want and still be productive in sharing enough with everyone else.
2. Help with the wiki. If you do not know how to use the wiki, you can always put any info you have in the wiki forums. I'm sure the wiki team would appreciate any help.

Indeed! Starting a blog is an excellent idea, perhaps even a Youtube channel with your gameplay! As soon as I'm able to grab a key, that's what I'll be doin! Join us, brethren, and we shall defeat Diablo!
Doubt I will get into the beta, but if the planets doth align, the sun grows dark and the heavens rain down on planet earth and I do actually get a key, I'll have my channel on youtube running hot and also write something on the blog here.
be sure to constantly be linking your personal youtube and blogs here... just so i dont have to go running around the Interwebz to find this stuff. Thanks!

I think the title of this thread says it all. "Lucky beta entrants"
5 Million SC2 accounts, 5 Million WoW accounts, several million other types of accounts for U.S.
Lets assume that the first wave needs 10,000 people. They have probably already invited about 2500 or so through contests and media, so let's hope that means another 7,500 invites.
Let's say that only a million people have their account set up to request the D3 beta, but I will freely admit, that's a guess. We're talking about each person having significantly under a 1% chance to get invited into the Beta. Now, hopefully if you can invite friends and family we can increase that number here, but I expect that very few of us are likely to get beta invites.
So, all you people who do get into the beta, you better show us some cool stuff or we'll have to beg more!

My plan is to play through the beta with all classes and then post the gameplay with my commentary.
