It's been 6 months since Bliz last announced its male Monk class.
Just recently (and finally, I may add), the female version of the Monk was released. Fifth class is yet to be announced (I doubt they have even decided on exactly what it should be), they will rework the female Barbarian design, last I read they have only completed Act 1's and the beginning of Act 2's contents, about 3 more acts to go. There's still no word on PvP contents or Clan support features (I doubt they have even started making those yet).
**** me, but assuming that Blizz continues it current pace of development, I will be surprised if I can see a full retail version of D3 by June 2011.
I'm not frustrated with it so much as I am simply fascinated. They clearly know what they are doing. They always produce a game of the year. Their quality in games is so awesome. They really put work into those games. I don't mind waiting one bit. Go Blizz! <3

Well they've only got like 60 people working on it, they've got no deadline, they work and rework every aspect of the game at least two dozen times to find the one they like best, they've got unlimited funding, and they're perfectionists.

No one here is denying their talents and the results of their works.
But damn, it's due time that Blizzard realizes that merely delivering quality products just isn't enough, it's also about delivering them to customers ON TIME.
Blizzard isn't the only developer in the world that makes great games.
Naughty Dog made Uncharted 2.
Konami made MGS4.
Infinity Ward made COD4 (MW2 was a terrible game in comparison).
Bioware made Mass Effect 2.
All these are arguably masterpieces in modern age of gaming, and yet they were also released within the expected time allocation of their fans.
It's time Blizzard learn a thing or two from these exceptional developers.
Making an excellent game isn't actually difficult if you have a talented team, a fat budget and unlimited amount of time: precisely what Blizzard is giving itself right now (take SC2 for example, delayed year after year, and now it doesn't even have a release date anymore).
But what really makes a developer spectacular, is making an excellent game with a talented team, a fat budget but with the immense pressure of a time restraint.
When time pressure comes into play, everything changes: But this is precisely what sets the TOP developers apart from the mere good ones.
Top developers get the job done even when facing a tight deadline.

Of course they're going to take a long time.
they have about 70 people working on it and that is actually a lot if they are all devs/producers and if that does not include QA (Quality Assurance)?
They already have the last class chosen i read that somewhere. I don't think that d3 is taking long because blizzard is lagging or anything, i think it could be done sooner but they are prolonging it for other reasons or have prolonged it in the past for other reasons. It will no doubt be a good game, one that i would hope would be released this year as i and many others are getting very impatient with the amount of time since the first game play trailer was released.
Posts like these are good though they need to know that their diablo fans have grown impatient with the last decade of no sequel to diablo 3. Try to make it less angry and dumb sounding though (referring to the OP).
I see no problem with the development time. Just because they don't flaunt every advancement doesn't mean that they aren't advancing, we were waiting almost a decade for the announcement when it came, and until they surpass the development time of Starcraft II, I'm not going to throw a worry party
Ya the development is taking way to long... its been 9 years plus!! (started in 2001) I am just worried we are all gunna finally get to play it and its gunna feel...out of date! But I hope not!
I don't think people will care how long it takes as long as the game turns out great. You mentioned Bioware and I think they are a good example to prove this point. Dragon Age was first announced in 2004 and it just recently came out. Yet I have heard very few people complain about it because its a great game (I assume. My computer won't run it and I don't want it on console. But I've heard its good.)
But damn, it's due time that Blizzard realizes that merely delivering quality products just isn't enough, it's also about delivering them to customers ON TIME.
Are you kidding me?
I'd like you to meet Valve.
Its because retarded companies like EA decide to "hurry up" that gaming is becoming a joke as a whole.
I'm pretty damn glad that Blizzard is also taking their time to make good games instead of some EA shit we see all over.
The only problem here is the stupid people thinking that because they heard about the game and have been waiting since, that they now owe them their game or something.
I say just shut up, and be happy enough that they share and heck, LISTEN to their community as well during the development. Time restraint is a fucking joke and FANS shouldn't have any say on it either. Be patient.
What sets the good and the bad developers apart has oh so nothing to do with the TIME they take to make a game, especially when you say that them meeting a faster deadline makes them better. What is that? Are you joking?
Anyway, -whatever-. I don't care. You should consider not caring about any anouncements related to games and just care when they come out. So called "fans" or any players like you that ever come here whining because they don't release fast enough don't deserve to get any information before the games are released.

That's because Dragon Age is a new IP and almost no one had much expectations of it.
D3, in contrast, is the third game of an internationally well-known and successful franchise, and was in development since 2001. While it's true that much of their work from the early 2000s was scraped and completely reworked, but this is exactly what happens when the development goes for too long: The physics and graphics engine becomes outdated with the current times and they must be replaced with new ones.

The game engine started being developed in 2005. During the development of Diablo II, they started some artwork and concepts for Diablo III, but a lot of it was lost or scrapped by the new team. Not really nine years of development

I LOVE how ignorant idiots like you always seem to pick on EA when attempting to provide an example of a "bad" video game developer and publisher.
EA isn't actually doing that bad recently, for your information.
Sims 3 was widely acclaimed and became best sellers on the PC.
Red Alert 3 had decent reviews.
Rock Band series was much loved (although not my type of game).
The Burnout series was a big hit amongst both gamers and critics.
The Fight Night series is one of the better fight sports games out there.
Mirror's Edge was decent, not great, but at least it was innovative (rare for EA).
Battlefield Bad Company 2 is coming out and it seems like it will be pretty successful.
Oh, and didn't you know that Bioware actually belongs to EA? So technically speaking, EA has to take credit for the success of Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2.
I'm not a supporter of EA, EA has its many faults and flaws, but if your argument is that EA always makes crap games, then I think I just blew you out of the water.

You are an idiot, I would have said the "r" word if it isn't banned on the forums.
We don't owe Blizzard anything for listening to our feedback or for any information they have released.
It's in their best interests to engage in these PR and marketing activities with their potential customers.
Not responding to constructive feedback and keeping a tight lid on everything doesn't help sell the product.
