From the gameplay I've seen in the past week there are three things that definitely look out of place
1: The red glow/outline of the monster or item that your mouse is over.
Is this really necessary? I don't know why they added this feature, it is just screen clutter and takes away from the combat and monster visuals. People already know what their mouse is hovering over
2: I noticed that when the Barbarian does his stomp that stuns enemies in a certain radius, the work "stunned" appears over each enemies' head.
This is highly unnecessary as the visual effect of the stun is quite obvious. Diablo 3 gamers do not have to have their hands held throughout the game.
My main concern with this is that it pulls you out of the visceral gaming experience. When you see the text it just reminds you that you are playing a game. This is the same for my 1st issue. Also, if they don't take this text notifying system out of the game I really hope they at least have an option for it or not. Same with the 1st issue.
Hmm it just occurred to me that perhaps they will be in the game on the 'normal' difficulty but not the more advanced ones? Either way I would like at least the option not to have these tutorial-like / notifying features.
3: This one is not nearly as big an issue to me and I'm sure they will change it, but the quest screen looks as large as the inventory and equipment screen - it takes up the whole left side of the screen.
This is also unnecessary, in my opinion. I would much a screen similar to the mini-map that can be easily viewed while playing. This keeps you in the game experience without having to pause and open a huge window all the time. However, I wouldn't mind a bigger window to read a story about the quest, pictures, etc. But for the quest essentials something smaller and more viewable while running around with a character would be an improvement, to me at least.
I completely agree with your first two points - especially the red outline problem. In fact, I've surfed several forums and there seems to have been an overwhelmingly negative response about it across the majority of the player base. I'm positive that Blizzard is aware of it by now. The stun text I hadn't thought about too much before, but now that you mention it I agree with your arguments.
As for the quest panel, I'm not personally bothered by it since the size does keep it consistent with the other UI panels, but I wouldn't be disappointed if it was changed/resized/etc.
One of the things I find quite distasteful (and I've mentioned it in another thread) is the way item names are displayed on their popups. The ragged right edges created by the randomly generated item names are very unappealing. Centered on top of the popup is the way to go in my opinion.
EDIT: Another thing I wanted to add is that some of the gameplay videos show numbers above the characters' heads, seemingly indicating damage while they're fighting. However, the displays are very inconsistent (maybe it only shows critical hits or damage to the player character?) and I believe overall unnecessary.
As far as I've seen, the critical damage numbers were only in the early versions of the game, since all the more recent footage (back to Blizzcon 08 even I think) doesn't have it any more.
I'm seriously hoping they include an option to turn that stuff on and off. I know for sure some people would love to have them, but a lot don't, as well.
An option is all that is needed to make everyone happy on the matter.
For some reason the red outline was only on one of the demos? In everything else I have seen there has been no red outline to speak of. e.g. this 12 min vid

You haven't seen the mouse cursor either
I just hope that things pointed out will be adressed promtly

lol it can still easily be a ranger since who said you cant shoot arrows at melee distance xD

The Barbarian is from Arreat, a very cold snowy mountain top, but they are much tougher than normal humans, so they don't need warmth.

Where are Barbarians originally from? Sumeria, or more specifically Mesopotamia, AKA Europe. Think the Alps and the Pyrenees
Ah, good point. I don't like it either by the way. Takes you out of the game and makes it harder to see what the monster looks like.
Just a simple white highlight on creatures/destructables while cursing over (or color change depending on spell/skill) would do the trick I guess... the red hp bars army wasn't present in later gameplay clips as well so maybe they'll catch on.

I agree about the red outline. Should probably go. Even just making a monster a bit lighter in brightness when hovering over it would be better. My guess is that it definitely wont be in the final version of the game.
the red outline def has to go. its just terrible looking and really doesnt have any benefits. takes away from gameplay in fact. words above the head like stunned have the same issue. completely agree

The red outline reminds me of old Baldur's Gate games and also Jagged Alliance haha.
