yea i am gonna "spam" for a while to make it Crystal clear, cause this Poll is a thriller, when all of you voted over the other thread that NEED more WORK!!
1. Obviously this thread is going to have more and different people voting in it as its on the front page...so yea. People who like the graphics aren't gonna go looking around for threads about people not liking the graphics.
2. I hear acting like a retard gets your point across.
3. I also hear acting like a retard gets you banned.
Making bright areas dark is not going to solve anything. Just because there are bright places in an evil game doesn't mean its going to turn into a Hello Kitty Island/WoW hybrid.
I personally don't mind the way it is, but I want the game to give me chills at some points, I want it to have horror elements, now I can't say anything because I haven't seen any horror elements in the game, but maybe toning down the color a bit could help in that direction, but whichever way Blizzard goes I shall go!
Thank you Blizzard for ending my 7 years of suffering.
I felt that the art design (from what I saw) was very well done. However, if the entire game follows the same lighting, weather, and general atmospheric feel I believe that the gothic theme that we have all come to expect and love in a Diablo game will be lost.
Like what many others have expressed, as long as the artwork and atmosphere reflect the correct place in the story (i.e. colorful and well lit when in the secure mortal realm vs. contrasted and dark in the dangerous demonic dominion) then I am all for the colorful presentation, it is stunning!

Why can't a heterosexual guy tell a heterosexual guy that he thinks his booty is fly?
I was a huge fan of the original Diablo and I was rather disappointed when Diablo 2 moved away from the horrorific focus of the original game. That said, Diablo 2 was still very fun with it's new, more epic focus, so I got over it.
The graphics of this new game are gorgeous so I voted positive. The screen alterations some people have been making here are horrendous. Would I like the game to be more neutral? Would I like it to be less colorful? Yeah, but not to that extreme degree.
My problem is the lighting and not the colors or the style. A Diablo game should be very dark outside of the player's light radius and I don't get that feel at all in these new screenshots. This has a big effect on Diablo's actual gameplay (whether of an epic or horror style).
I voted that it's great as it is. I thought the graphics from the gameplay video looked awesome. I know that I won't be disappointed with the graphic/details. If they choose to make it a little darker, that's fine too. But I'm sure other areas of the game will look much darker than the 2 areas that we saw. It's great to have variety in the game.

I honestly don't get the whole blue/green critiques. Personally I think it looks more like fog as opposed to anything else. Dark =/= Evil. When I was watching the gameplay video I personally thought it really added to the unknown aspect of the area. Just because the lighting isn't black doesn't mean its not a spooky place.
Hi. I think BLIZZARD would take the following from this forum:
Light Radius (somebody said somewhere that in d2, the light radius really effected combat in a way that you based what nasties you killed from what you could see, if u remember, whilst fighting in some underground cave in d2, you would get a volley of arrows coming at you from nowhere and as soon as you ran toward it you'd uncover a couple of skeletal archers attacking like crazy, changing the way you approached your current route.)
The Blue/green tint we saw (in that image of the barbarian a couple of posts back - in correlation with the cinematic-, the mist and 'fog' in the dungeons had a strange colour tint to it, which, i must admit is remeniscent of many dungeon crawlers/rpg's today, withsayingthat i have to associate that scheme with WoW. ALTHOUGH one has to move forward when it comes to these things called sequels.
BOTTOMLINE: the biggest thing i see coming from all this talk about art direction and what not is something bigger than we expect. i think blizz already has this idea. As the story progresses, from a world healing/forgetting/forgotten what happened in d2lod (as a place that is now vibrant with life) you find youreself in beautiful country, and as the storyline goes on, so does the scenery.
Remember, in d2, all the places you visited were first called upon by Mr.D himself, tainting those places.

"I think that it is what Blizzard meant by something dark in term of emotions instead of dark in term of colors."
i am gonna try posting every 2-3 pages so everyone will see it at least once
At least link the picture so its not just plain annoying. You're just acting like a 3 year old, no one cares what you think if you try to get it across in a trolling manner like this...
We saw your post the last 3 or 4 times, and when you had the same pictures about 5 times in a row, please stop re-posting, we saw them and have seen them 100 times in other threads.
Don't need to see them more then twice in the same thread.
You'll probably get those posts all deleted by a mod.
And I still think that the game will get darker as we progress, I mean that is just a little countryside area, later we will probably be in HELL and other very dark and evil places.
On the artistic side, I find the current engine and what they've done with it to be pretty damn good. Some tweaks are needed, but hey, it's been 3 days since we saw the thing, they have time to tweak heh.
I personally think that the colors are pretty good. The greens and blues in the dungeon were a little disconcerting at first, but it's only one dungeon, later areas could hearken back to the darkly gothic bloodbath chambers of classic Diablo. What should change, however, are the textures themselves. Both inside and out, surfaces are way too smooth looking.
I don't like how incredibly dark the "After" is, but two things from it I would like to see considered. The sharpness of the textures, see how the stones of the bridge have a lot more definition than the stock picture? The other is the lightning effects. The after picture has it closer to the Diablo 2 white and greenish blue lightning, as opposed to a very vibrant blue which doesn't seem to fit, to me.
As far as the outside area goes, rainbows and all that, it seems fine. A fitting view-point to act as a comparison with the dark and demonically scarred areas of the late game, I'd imagine. So you can see the evil seep into the land. Just sharper textures, in my opinion.
i am gonna try posting every 2-3 pages so everyone will see it at least once
sorry for the "spam" but htose Edited Images is the future of Diablo III, and STOP this "its too early, it was only a demo bla bla bla bla" we act now (like we did with starcraft2) or else Blizzard will think Fans are happy and will make it WoW v2.1
Thats why they do announcements, cause they need FEEDBACK!!! well everything its Fine by now except this Stupid Green-Blue Lightings ovr the dungeons, and some out areas. even edited to gray There is Plenty of Happiness in the outdoor images and Color!!! Where ever Monthers from Hell are Walking death should kill nature in some point!!!!! Like undead in Warcraft! remember the cinematic!!!
so here we go again: forgive me its for oun good:)
I will say that I'm not really impressed with what Diablo 3 "should" look like. But you can't please everyone.

You could have noted this thread and I could have changed things if you didn't agree with some of the post. The importance of the thread was the results of the poll, which are already pretty far along.
Either way, at least there's an 'official official' thread now, heh.
i heared we had a dimocracy last time i checked, and by posting 3 times something in a post with many pages its like you never posted it!
tnx for the info though i will be carefull!

What is normal? Normal is a concept that everyone or a majority of people are the same or similar. However, we know that everyone is unique. If everyone is unique, then everyone is different. If everyone is different, then everyone is weird. If everyone is weird, then everyone is normal.
I must say that I really loved what I saw of the gameplay video, it was nothing short of amazing. They said in multiple interviews that the emotion was about being dark, they don't need everything being dark themed to portray a dark game.
The new colour scheme is amazing the outside is just breathtaking for an isometric game to actually look this good again, I felt like I was back watching some detailed isometric rpgs but made a new again for 2008+. your artists have done an utmost top tier job and I implore you, infact no.. I beg you keep the art the same because all that lush enviroment will contrast great when you step into hell, if we head back there. I understand what your trying to do with the new game to really contrast the light/dark side and it's turned out fantastic.
You may not read this, but yeah you've pretty much reinstated my love for isometric games and this will blow diablo 2 sales out of the water with the new look, story driven content but not to get sidetracked
I played wow for a long time, but stopped because it wasn't very innovative anymore, but I always loved diablo, hellfire , d2 and lod much more and spent about 20x the time playing them than I ever did wow. I can't really see what a lot of people are complaining about in the new style of graphics but as an ex-wow player who didn't really find wow that amazing. I still look at your game D3 that is and find it breathtaking, wow's graphics never blew my mind like yours have.
This is YOUR game and you should take the art where you want it and I'm right behind you 100% of the way as are a lot of people.
TLDR version : please stay the same, for the love of everything, stay the same! Your artists are THE most talented game artists in the current game market, don't give in to the few sour people who complain. Stay true to your game design and vision.
Blizzard, do whatever you want with this game and we will enjoy it.
I just want more of that awesome action and item collecting and roleplaying that made Diablo and Diablo2 + LoD so damn fun!
Diablo is the best series of games in history in my opinion.
The art could be a little grittier but it doesn't matter that much, it won't stop true fans from buying it!
I voted too cartoony, but would like to add that I feel there should be more environmental objects that enhance the horror feel.
Won't mention light radius being too big as maybe the trailer did that on purpose.

The first act is probably lighter then the later... more evil and dark acts.
No?

The colors don't have to be like that, but the gritty texture is a welcome sight.
And another picture: http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/8366/contrastqj1.jpg
This is probably the best one I've seen so far. It has the sharp textures, and the color hasn't changed too much.
Kudos to the guys who did these comparison pictures. And regardless of how the game looks, I will delve into the depths of hell once again.
