    I don't think it's hinting at anything other than they're shifting their focus from 50/50 online vs. single player to something revolving around online play more. This won't effect me personally, but I know a number of people that enjoy the single player aspects of D2 much more than the online, and they will likely be disappointed with this when D3 is released.

    My topic wasn't about either of those things though. It was about the sheer terminology, i.e. the word clan being used as opposed to the word guild. That subject wouldn't fit in so well in the thread my topic was moved to, not to mention once a thread gets that big it loses attention to other topics. Overall I think the system needs revision in this area.

    I figured that that was what happened/is happening, but I think that it hurts the integrity of the forum when a little house cleaning turns into unresponsive threads where you can't express your viewpoint, which, I believe, is the point of a forum.

    I haven't been on the site for awhile, but I noticed this the last time I posted here, and just now with my first topic returning to the site. I made a topic asking people if they wanted the guild/clan system called guilds vs clans. My topic was then lumped with a ginormous topic asking whether people wanted guilds/clans implemented to begin with. This gripe isn't personal, but rather a concensus I've come to after seeing this happen a lot. If there is a systematic approach to this type of moderation, I think it should be revised.

    Indeed, but the only game where it was an official mechanic (I believe) was Warcraft III. So I don't think Blizzard has any stock in clans, however it would be very cool of them to go with that over guilds IMO.

    I'll be the first one to say that it is one of the very last priorities, but I feel that terminology is as much a part of the atmosphere as the graphics or sound. I personally think that this game should call its player organization mechanic, if it is implemented at all, clans as opposed to guilds. Diablo is centered around small cloisters of individuals coming together for their own self-interest. This stands in direct contrast to the definition of a guild where large groups of people organize around the same goal.

    Thoughts?

    I only say blink to capture the idea of what it looks like in WC3 and WoW, a cooldown version of teleport. No reason to get up in arms over such a trivial thing. And yes, I agree with practically everything you mentioned. A frozen orb type cooldown would work well along with a LoS rule.

    OK, this idea may seem farfetched, and I'll admit that there is very little chance of this being implemented, but I thought it sounded interesting so I thought I'd share.

    Obviously, the vast majority of the Diablo community is against class-specific roles (i.e. barb tank, sorc ranged-dps, etc.). However, I thought that there could be a way to make these roles exist without resitricting each class to a WoW-like designation:

    Tank gear as opposed to a tank class
    DPS gear as opposed to a DPS class, and so on

    This would mean a new type of loot system. Each piece of loot would be specially made with the idea of tanking, DPSing, etc. and the mods would only accomodate that role. There would be some all-around loot for soloing of course, but otherwise items' stats would reflect the role they were made for.

    This way when you group up you can designate one person to tank (regardless of their class, a sorc for example could be designated the tank just as easily as the barb), they change out their gear to take on this new role and the other people in the group can work on DPS or whatever form of healing is implemented.

    I know this is outlandish, so telling me so is just repetive =]

    The reason I even raise the question though is because teleport had become so broken by v1.09 that they had to implement Enigma in v1.10 to balance all the classes in PvP. This was an easy fix to the problem, but with more time, it's probable that we will see a different solution. I think that Blink is a likely alternative.

    For those of you who haven't played or know about Warcraft III or WoW, Blink is a teleport-like skill that works on a long cooldown. This prevents extended kiting by teleportation and makes for easier balancing for devs when it comes to caster vs. melee PvP.

    I want to hear the Diablo communities opinion of implementing Blink rather than teleport to Diablo III's TBA mage class.
