That's how far I got using links for sources. Nothing on that page in terms of sources. What I'm talking about is where the info comes from. And this just doesn't look very reliable. It might be with extra connections that aren't mentioned.
Usually a golden rule of marketing is to not introduce a new product which simply shifts sales from one product to another. The aim is to expand the pool of clients sufficiently to allow the new product to exist in its own right.
Some arguments here are contrary to this. You might be proved correct. But I don't think so.

So we've got over the problem of colour in D3. Great. Now let's argue about everything else not yet set in stone and help make this game simply great! Game on.
Surfer Girl is seriously accurate despite residing behind a shroud of secrecy.
I generally, as a rule, treat rumors and hearsay with a hint of caution, but if there ever was a tipster to listen to amid the static surrounding any upcoming announcement or release, then it's far and away Surfer Girl.
Aside from the chuckles we've eked from Morhaime in his myriad interviews including those conducted during the recent Blizzard/Activision merger, this is the most comforting revelation indeed.
Disagree to whatever extent you'd like, but this is serious knowledge. I'm excited.
Also, unless someone has previously posted this in which case you are free to berate me, you missed this one.
EDIT: To support my claim here, I'd like to point out that several prominent gaming communities often refer to Surfer Girl posts (like destructoid, 1up, etc.) when they're sniffing out news for upcoming announcements.
Good to hear that the source is reliable. Don't know if anyone else here subscribes to PC Gamer, but apparently they are promoting the Feb issue as one you can't afford to miss and mandatory for all PC game enthusiasts. Might be a far stretch here: but I think I saw posted on here somewhere that Blizz is attending a GDC in Feb and the prices are crazy to get in. Thought that maybe there is the possibility of something be said at the convention. Just my thoughts; it's at the end of the magazine in the bottom portion that talks about the next issue.
If Surfer girl is accurate then it sounds like Diablo 3 would be very similar to Hellgate in that it is a Single Player game with MMO tendancies. More than likely Battlenet won't exist and it will all be consolidated to online game play with arenas and instances etcetera etcetera.
Since we're on this topic of information flow regarding the Diablo franchise, I would recommend staying somewhat apprised of what Surfer Girl is saying. After cruising the archives I've found more posts regarding Blizzard (especially this one about the merger) and their IPs. While the overall view of corporations and the like are somewhat negative from Sufer Girl's perspective, the posts are rather objective (in that they stray from fantastic plot speculation or vague concepts like my favorite one "IT's AWESOME, it's like hell invades heaven and its a huge war and Tyrael turns on the light BLAH BLAH") Take the time to read the comments for posts like these as "she" takes the time to answer questions from most of the commenters.
For the same reason we all thought D3 was going to be announced at the GC in Leipzig this year: the Germans (and Europeans in general) are just as fanatic about Blizzard software as the North Americans.
They're just domain camping thinking that's what blizz might call the game meaning it most definately is not going to be called that. Or maybe that's just what they feel like calling their fan site.
i don't really like mmo's so i hope the next diablo game isn't one. maybe blizzard is putting diablo to the side for a while like they did with starcraft, which would then mean a 10 year gap for the sequel...

if they are their time is just about up. what really confuses me is all of these people saying that diablo 3 coming out and then 3-4+ years later a diablo MMO coming out is impossibile; they did it with warcraft. also i don't understand why you would say that a diablo MMO would be too similar to a warcraft MMO, they are two very different worlds, they both take place in fantasy setting but thats about it. diablo is much darker, deals with purely humans, angels and demons whereas warcraft has a large variety of races. i'm sure there were people who thought starcraft would be too similar to warcraft also. blizzard makes things work, and by them saying its going to be a "next-gen MMO" gives even more reason for the diablo MMO (if it happens) to be very much different than wow. like i said before, the only thing we have to worry about with blizzard making the next diablo game is that Matt Uelmen does the music.

I am not sure where you are getting this. Blizzard has done only ONE MMO, yet you are saying they can't do another MMO without it being exactly the same?
If you're such a fan of Blizzard North, go play Hellgate.
I am extremely excited about this, too bad it will be so long before we get to play it.
I am convinced that this will be the "Diablo 3" I am waiting for.
It doesn't matter if it's a continuation of the story, or just something else based on Sanctuary or even roughly based on it. I want it!
I want a Diablo MMO, more than I want a Diablo 3 with similar graphics. But I want similar system, with easy skill trees and stat points and such.
But I can't afford to think to much about it, I would just excite myself to death, there will be a long time before we can lay our hands on anything like it Im afraid :/
Hey ho!
If you type : www.diablo3.com in your browser you will be directed to blizzard!! YEEEEHA! I take this as evidence

But what I love about Hellgate: London? The action. The combat system
