My bad if we're not supposed to be posting about the Demon Hunter here, but I assume "Unannounced Class" will soon be undergoing a name change or deletion. But since a Demon Hunter thread isn't existing yet, what do you guys think the Demon Hunter's resource will be? Some form of Demonic Energy, where they have to "leech" off the corpses of slain demons to replenish it? Wouldn't be too difficult in a world full of Demons, but what if it ran out in PvP? Or something as simple as Energy or Stamina or Focus(since it would take some Focus to use projectiles I guess?).

A belief in no God is a belief in everything. It is a belief in the unfathomable number of events of blind chance required for every living thing to be here.
Soul Energy (taken from enemies of all kinds of course). Then again, not all of the abilities are magical. Many just use good old fashion ingenuity. Tough call.
combined resource makes it more complicated than Blizzard usually likes it. I'd stick with focus for now, seems more fitting to her/his skills (and the hunter in WoW also has it and works pretty well).
despite the name, the wizards resource is actually just like wow hunter's focus so I hope they go with something different.
Since shes supposed to be possessed and dark themed...
I think her resource system should be life driven. It should cost HP to cast skills, and she gains a passive life drain. Maybe give her a Passive that lets her regain X amount of life per kill.
One thing about her skills is that most of then have a duration..
They could creat a system based at total skills on. Ex:
The bar has 100 points. When you use molten arrow, certain amount of points is used. When the duration is over, the points returns to her.
Skills that don't have duration (knives and teleport-like) should simply consume the bar for some time.
I think this is a great way to let her freely use her skills but not be overpowered. Willpower would increase the amount of bar.
Im still going with a balance type system between two different aspects. Like the druid from wow now has. CAsting one type lowers that one and raises the other. then you get a buff (like %crit chance) on the other type so you start using that one. Balancing back and forth. I could see shadow and her marksmanship needing this balance. when she is using shadow, its more chaotic while her bow skills require focus. then her traps could be neutral so you always have something ti rely on.

Anything is possible, but I don't see Blizzard making any more than one resource per class. Given the Demon Hunter's story, my best guess would be the Demonic Energy type. Cute Cow made a good point, the Demon Hunter will likely be able to harvest organs and innards, so why not be able to draw energy off of them? The problem with this is that in the midst of battle it would be challenging to open the inventory and "use" an item. Yet again, there may be a DH ability that automatically uses your stored demon parts somehow... We'll see.

I’d like to see a sort of reload system, because her twin crossbows are very similar to pistols. Her basic attack would say have 10-50 rounds per clip, and reload time would be around three seconds. Her archery spells would be similar; for example, multi-shot would be one long reload time between volleys, and bola would be like a shotgun; shoot, reload, shoot, reload, shoot, reload. For her other spells that don’t include archery (fan of knives, vault, etc), they would just be cool-down based, that way it forces the player to use a wide variety of spells, instead of just spamming multi-shot.
The Demon Hunters energy should be called corruption. The more she uses her skills the more corrupt she becomes and the stonger the skill the more corrupt she needs to be to use stonger skill.
A mix costs on both Energy & Focus would be nice.
Though things might get complicated like what many have said.
Or a short cooldown for Crossbow skills and using Focus instead.
1st idea is the barb's fury, 2nd is mana, 3rd is original but I doubt it would work well as it would make it harder to kill the final enemies of a group.

I actually really like the sound of a Reload mechanic.
This idea sounds great to me because it makes sense - lore wise - and also provides a sense of strategic tension. Here's how I envision this concept:
The DH's resource could be a pool of (let's say) 10 arrows.
Some skills, as previously suggested, could expend 1, 2, 3 or more arrows
After expending 10 arrows, you must Reload - this takes (let's say) 5 seconds
During Reload, you are free to use cool down skills (Grenade, Vault, etc.)
After 5 seconds, your resource of 10 arrows is refilled
Rinse, repeat
The strategic tension is the same as that of First Person Shooters: you are limited to a certain amount of ammunition which forces you to make strategic decisions based on how much of that ammo you have left. When you have max ammo, you can go guns blazing... when you are at half-ammo, you can go guns blazing, but at the same time look for cover/escape routes so you can reload... when you are out of ammo, you resort to other tools in order to provide yourself enough time to reload. Maybe the DH could be allowed to reload at any time - whether she has an empty quiver or not at the simple expense of having to wait that 5 seconds to finish reload (a.k.a. in-between-battle-resource-regeneration)
Heck, I don't know how much people loved/hated arrows and bolts from Diablo 2, but they could bring that back if they wanted with this system. Reloading takes 10 arrows from your quiver, or whatever. Maybe only skills require ammo, but your standard attack doesn't. Just throwin' out ideas...
Anyway, this sounds fun so I hope Blizzard at least internally play tests this idea... or finds another system that's even more fun!
*edit*
I should also say that I like how a system like this would prevent mindless/endless spamming of giant arrow spread skills... that just ain't cool.

The theme will problably be something along those lines, but the theme never determine the mechanics.

Yea, I guess that just sounds like the Barbarian as I say it to myself. Hmmmmmm...
Interesting. I wonder what they'll call it.
And also PvP. :whistling:
