a) Do abilities that are % weapon damage based take the average of your two weapons or are they mainhand only If you have an Axe in your offhand and a Sword in your mainhand do you get +15% damage and +10% crit?
Weapons Master only counts your Main Hand weapon type.
He didn't mean that tho.
He meant if he use a skill like Ancient Spear , does it take the damage of both weapons or main hand.
anyway the answer to his question is it takes the main hand only , the only use for offhand weapon is to raise your total stats (except the damage)

I'm not so sure about that. With "auto-attacks" (Frenzy, for example), your character uses both weapons. He'll hit with MH first, then OH, MH again etc.. I'm leaning towards the average of both weapons, but not entirely sure.

Incorrect. Weapons Master applies to the weapon you make an attack with, nothing else. I.E. you have 2 weapons in your hands and you attack with each alternatively, the first one is an axe and the second is a sword, attacking with an axe gives you +10% crit, attacking with the sword gives you +10% dmg, it's that simple.
The calculation that is shown in your character sheet will only display the MH bonus, of course, unless you can make it think that you're attacking with the OH instead.
I'd be pretty surprized that this is how it works with WT. I could see it working with frenzy if you actually use both weapons in animation but with weapon throw your weapons aren't in your hands.
It'd be easy to test by putting an Axe in the offhand and putting the character sheet up and see if your CHC goes up on the second attack.

Not home atm so I can't check it but I will later
I actually tested that a few days ago. Axe in OH does NOT give crit chance while having Weapon Mastery.

As someone said weapon master works on main hand only.
About skill like weapon throw i will always like using 2 hand because i will the whole damage in one throw , rather than DW which needs you to throw the 2 axes to do dps stat dmg (still i prefer 1 hand + shield for this build , but after tomorrow -the attack speed nerf patch- i maybe with DW if it was effective toward weapon throw.
I'll explain why the drop in pure damage from ricochet is necessary and what skills you need with it as soon as I have time
Edit : To answer your question, I don't kill bosses as fast but trash/elites are still cake (if not easier than before with a build that does less DPS because the nerf was pretty big both on IAS and on monsters effectiveness)

I would still go for overpower in place of sprint (i like the extra crit chance :P).
Sadly i couldn't try thr build with high attack speed because the nerf was fast D: , i ad 1.8 attack speed and after the nerf its maybe 1.6 , i will still be waiting for you to edit and add more info , and i will do my own research of items skill tomorrow :3.
So far I'm using the old build and its still completely viable. I'll try out ricochet though.
Edit:
Wow, after testing it out i'm throughly impressed with it now. Very nice. Though it looks like its harder to generate fury now, with ricochet. Which is odd because my crit rate hasn't changed, just attack speed. Weird. I'm guessing though its specifically because rico seems to be good on groups for fury gen, but horrible on single. I'm guessing that's why you included AS with RF, for a good boost for fury gen, and mad damage.
Despite how much a shield really helps out, I found having an off hand weapon really helps vs the attack speed nerf. I actually got my attack speed with a dagger, back up to near what it used to be. Though again, lowers survivability....BUT with how slowed the mobs all are now due to rico's crowd control it sure makes surviving alot easier regardless lol.
Another odd thing is I found a "balanced" mighty weapon, and the attack speed was like 1.51, with like 17% ias. I wonder if you can find these with high dps with a socket?? I tried it with my friends DH with his caltrops, and it was like watchin the matrix effect in combination ;p

Hey, typing this from my phone on a break so it'll be short n sweet.
The main reason I had to switch is because of the IAS nerf : before you could just mow down a group of monsters and kite more effectively (like I do in my videos).
If you can't do that you need the aoe damage and slow from ricochet. The problem you get from that is trouble with fury generation versus small groups so you need to change some skills around and you have less free space than usual (overpower has a place only in group play with a tank, otherwise you need more fury generation, like with the Run like the Wind and Into the Fray synergy, or with Ground Stomp with Wrenching Smash for range.
The hook from AS becomes important as it is the biggest single target damage for bosses and what not (which became much harder to kill fast with ricochet)
So far I'm using the old build and its still completely viable. I'll try out ricochet though.

I switched to DW as well because of the added survivability we get and to keep my old DPS and still have decent ias (nowhere as fast as before)
Hope it helps, as I said I'll edit the guide when I can.
Why is mighty wep better than axe/mace? Wouldn't being closer to 100% crit be better for ancients damage?
Hi,
I don't think I've ever said that it is better. It's just good if you have low CHC because it gives you an effective 2 fury cost WT.
In terms of what is better on paper, Swords and Daggers are. Axes and Maces are good for reaching some kind of checkpoint where you feel that without a Mighty Weapon you can still have enough fury, which means that you can gain more DPS through 10% Crit.
If you have the gear to wear a sword, go nuts! It's definitely better in theory, as I mentioned in guide
And how it goes with such low resists anyway? Before 1.0.3 one mistake would be a sure death.
Also, I assume you're using the Weapon Master passive, but according to image above you are going for sword in main hand instead of mighty, why? Is it because of attack speed? Wouldn't mace/axe be better when it comes with free 10% CSC (10% off 290% bonus damage on crit is like 29% increase instead of 10, correct me if i'm wrong)?
Hi,
Before 1.03 I had the same DPS wearing a shield so I could take 3 hits from most of the stuff. I have videos up if you want to check them out.
I'm using a sword because it's the best possible weapon for damage. Keep in mind that the 15% applies before the criticals, which means higher crits as well as higher white damage. I don't have fury problems so I don't use Mighty Weapon in MH (heck I don't even need Charge!).
I loved the spec. How ever ran into a few problems. My DPS was drasticly lower than yours before I knew your stats that is why I asked to see your gear / stats. I have 55% CHC(With a 10% CHC shield and using a Mighty Weapon) I see part of my problem is I took some CHC gear that didn't have any Strength at all. Also I see you changed our your pants. Are you still using Boj Anglers boots? Your strength is 1850 whereas mine is only 1370. That is a big chunk of DPS. My weapon, shield, and gloves all don't have strength. I'll need to change those out.
My other problem with the spec is the shear fact if you get caught by mobs you are ded 95% of the time. Like if you run into an Elitie Pack / Rare with Vortex, Jailer, or Waller and you get caught you are dead. It way to punishing and frustrating with the new increased repair cost. Kiting is another vital part of this spec. How ever I kept running into the problem of going into a zone and the first thing I run into is an elite pack and I have no where to kite. This happened to me in Act Two going to get the bloods for Zultan Kul or w/e his name is. Also some bosses are very punishing. After getting my ass kicked in Act Two I decided to go farm Act one Warden / Butcher 5 stack Neph Valor runs. Clearing to Butcher is just fine. But I don't know if its just me but Butcher is a bully for ranged. I can dodge all his ablities but his Multiple Spear Throw. Being so squishy if I wasn't able to get to a HP Pool or have an HP pot I would die. Or I'd be a totat tard and get hit with the spear pull and he'd one shot me. I died to much I actually broke all my gear and had no gold to repair it and had to go put my tank gear on and go farm Act One.

Hi, if you have problems with deaths there are two things that can be spotted as the problem (ignoring player errors here)
1. Your DPS is too low. You could think of tanks that die because they get circled ; that wouldn't happen if they could kill mobs faster. It's the same thing with this spec : you need to be able to make yourself some space.
2. Your HP pool / armor / res is too low. It's vital to be able to take at least 2 hits (of course) but you'd need to be able to take 4 or 5, especially with a shield and with the recent nerf to monster damage. I find it pretty hard to die now, even if I dropped my shield. It's all about good kiting and all that jazz. There are zones where it is impossible to clear without dying, without skills like Leap or Furious Charge because the entrance is swarmed.
About the gear, I just bought those 300k pants because they still haven't fixed the old Inna's Glory... (good joke imo). I could get some easy stats from the pants so I went ahead and took them.
@krazykrasz
As for Boj Anglers, I still use them just because good boots are generally more expensive. I'd replace them with 150+ str 150+ vit 12 movespeed boots anyday. I just haven't found a pair I like yet (aka a steal :P)
The repair costs are indeed a pain, you really need to be more careful. Don't progress too fast, sure the game is easier but keep it mind it used to take about 1 week of a few hours of play everyday to even thinking of starting act 2.
Sure the game is easier now but it's harder to find sellable items, if you compare to 3 weeks ago, so if your badlucky on item drops you need to farm gold and that's not really easy nowadays (maybe offer rushes or zol'tun leveling) and you can buy some easy upgrades with 1 hour of rushing, for example. Pretty good gear is cheap as hell now
Well I can say in some ways i'm in the same boat as people getting killed pretty easily, but it depends. IF I have a friend tanking persay, I don't die much at all. I was actually able to kite some elites in the passage way in area 2 & 3 above where the butcher is (can't remember the name of the zones lol).
Typically for building fury, this is what I do:
I still don't have enough IFG, so I still use charge. I make sure to use it when ever its up, though I make sure to look at my fury globe. If its less than half, I use it..otherwise I save it. Then what I do is hit into the fray, and run like the wind. If you have at least 3 mobs running after you, your fury globe should cap out very fast. While running I then turn fast and start spamin ricochet. Long as there's 3 mobs, I normally will not run out of fury at this point.
The biggest problem I'm having with running out of fury is simple. Besides single targets...its Berserker/Insanity that truly kills my fury. Unless charge is up, and i'm not careful I will run out of fury with berserker (on a single target). So typically i'm forced to switch to mighty throw, for stuff like that. I still think its retarded that Ricochet doesn't benefit the same as mighty throw.
My deal is I still don't have a 5 reduction belt, and enough crit. I think my base crit is 42%. My gloves are only 7.5 crit, and I only have 1 crit ring that's 3.5. Crit gear now seems to be alot more pricey than ias. Due to this picking up say andariels visage was alot easier lol.
I honestly don't know why they nerfed attack speed. The way the engine or game mechanics is set up, attack speed still one of the most important attributes to have..yet its alot harder to obtain now. Its almost like they nerfed inferno, then nerfed us at the same time...making the difficulty about the same as before (esp with repair costs).
The only thing I did notice is on really slow weapons, attack speed does seem to have a greater effect...at least bringing it up. It seems like the higher your attack speed is..the harder it is to raise it higher.
Lastly, anyone else notice the "balanced" weapons? I have yet to see one with high dps (because I farm act 2), though the attack speed is like it was prior to the nerf...meaning the mighty weapon I found had a 1.51 attack speed with 17% ias. In terms of farming screw elites..they not worth the repairs...I myself will still stick to farming gobs.
I'm currently leveling a throwinx axe barb! So far lvl 36! It's EPIC!! Thanks so much for this guide.

After further gear gathering I'm up to 55k DPS with buffs.(Dual Wielding with an Axe in MH) Still having some fury problems on single target and on bosses. I'm also still using Charge! rune. I have a 47% CHC with Battle Rage up and Axe in MH.
Have you looked into getting Nat Boots and Nat rings for the 7% CHC set bonus? I found pair of boots for a steal. Trying to find a cheap ring though looks impossible.

Hey, it can be hard to sustain with low CHC if you don't use Charge!. Especially versus solo enemies.
Runes are
Insanity - Into the Fray - Run like the Wind - Impunity - Ricochet - Rage Flip
stats unbuffed and with 1h sword in main hand.
