    Heyo everyone,

Well I can say in some ways i'm in the same boat as people getting killed pretty easily, but it depends. IF I have a friend tanking persay, I don't die much at all. I was actually able to kite some elites in the passage way in area 2 & 3 above where the butcher is (can't remember the name of the zones lol).

Typically for building fury, this is what I do:

I still don't have enough IFG, so I still use charge. I make sure to use it when ever its up, though I make sure to look at my fury globe. If its less than half, I use it..otherwise I save it. Then what I do is hit into the fray, and run like the wind. If you have at least 3 mobs running after you, your fury globe should cap out very fast. While running I then turn fast and start spamin ricochet. Long as there's 3 mobs, I normally will not run out of fury at this point.

The biggest problem I'm having with running out of fury is simple. Besides single targets...its Berserker/Insanity that truly kills my fury. Unless charge is up, and i'm not careful I will run out of fury with berserker (on a single target). So typically i'm forced to switch to mighty throw, for stuff like that. I still think its retarded that Ricochet doesn't benefit the same as mighty throw.

My deal is I still don't have a 5 reduction belt, and enough crit. I think my base crit is 42%. My gloves are only 7.5 crit, and I only have 1 crit ring that's 3.5. Crit gear now seems to be alot more pricey than ias. Due to this picking up say andariels visage was alot easier lol.

I honestly don't know why they nerfed attack speed. The way the engine or game mechanics is set up, attack speed still one of the most important attributes to have..yet its alot harder to obtain now. Its almost like they nerfed inferno, then nerfed us at the same time...making the difficulty about the same as before (esp with repair costs).

The only thing I did notice is on really slow weapons, attack speed does seem to have a greater effect...at least bringing it up. It seems like the higher your attack speed is..the harder it is to raise it higher.

Lastly, anyone else notice the "balanced" weapons? I have yet to see one with high dps (because I farm act 2), though the attack speed is like it was prior to the nerf...meaning the mighty weapon I found had a 1.51 attack speed with 17% ias. In terms of farming screw elites..they not worth the repairs...I myself will still stick to farming gobs.

    Heyo everyone,

So far I'm using the old build and its still completely viable. I'll try out ricochet though.

    Edit:
Wow, after testing it out i'm throughly impressed with it now. Very nice. Though it looks like its harder to generate fury now, with ricochet. Which is odd because my crit rate hasn't changed, just attack speed. Weird. I'm guessing though its specifically because rico seems to be good on groups for fury gen, but horrible on single. I'm guessing that's why you included AS with RF, for a good boost for fury gen, and mad damage.

Despite how much a shield really helps out, I found having an off hand weapon really helps vs the attack speed nerf. I actually got my attack speed with a dagger, back up to near what it used to be. Though again, lowers survivability....BUT with how slowed the mobs all are now due to rico's crowd control it sure makes surviving alot easier regardless lol.

Another odd thing is I found a "balanced" mighty weapon, and the attack speed was like 1.51, with like 17% ias. I wonder if you can find these with high dps with a socket?? I tried it with my friends DH with his caltrops, and it was like watchin the matrix effect in combination ;p

    Heyo everyone,

Wow I just got my arse handed to me on the catapults quest in act 3. I got to the very last one..and dam talk about crazy. That lovely flying demon elite came down, with a large pack. These guys had reflect dmg, molten, mortar, very fast movement..and some other affixes I don't remember. I tried to kite them with run like the wind, but apparently I still wasn't fast enough lol. I finally took 3 of the minions away to separate them, and I went back to the main elite. I swear most elites have what 5 minions? This guy either had 8-10 or the 3 I moved a mile away teleported back to him. Sucks because it took me an hour just to get to the 3rd catapult.

As I recall this guy I think is a usual spawn that appears on this quest..though I maybe mistaken. Any ideas for how to deal with this guy? If you guys don't know what I'm talking about, I'll try to find his name.

One last note I found really odd. I was using rage flip, and the mob ended up stuck off screen inside of a rock lol. Anyone else seen this happen?

    Heyo everyone,

I myself kaiser am using a 3 reduction belt, and it works fine. I plan to save up and buy a 5 asap, but with a mighty weapon this isn't as much of an issue. Finally at least got a 8XX dps might weapon, and seems to help out alot. Right now I really need to boost up my crit rate, think my base is like 20%. Gotta hawk eye andy's helm, cause the good deals tend to go very fast.

I actually had to lower my hp a bit to increase crit, and I was amazed that i'm still not dying in 1 hit in act 2 with only 22k hp and like 600 res all. Going to try to at least get my hp to about an even 30k. What is a good solid number for str to have? Obviously the more the better, but would is suggested 1k? or more?

Oh and run like the wind is godlike lol. I can't believe how good of a kiting skill this is!

    Heyo again everyone,

Alright so I don't really have that much crit gear, and finding a 5 reduction in fury for WT belt sure as heck isn't cheap. I was only able to afford a 3 reduction in fury. Unfortunately I don't have a 900 dps mighty weapon lying around either lol. So I tested it with all the crit gear I could scrape up, and with ITF and KS I was at about 43% crit chance. My weapon was only a meager 700 dps dagger I socketed with an emerald for some crit dmg. Gotta say just with that garbage, I was able to dish out about 30-50k dps. Right now I'm farming up enough gold to at least have a semi decent mighty weapon, till I can afford the crazy costs for a 900 dps weapon (to bad all the 900+ dmg weapons I find are always 2 handed >.< )

    Heyo everyone,

Just wanted to say awesome guide JCle! I myself play the typical sword and board barb, and I'm actually getting kind of bored of it. I recently teamed up with a monk and another barb (who happens to be a WT barb). The monk far exceeded my tanking, and was alot better at mod control that I was. The WT barb actually used ricochet...not really sure why..but his dps was probably about what your doing. While I had trouble surviving in act 3, he was utterly destroying mobs from the back.

I was also thinking about trying it prior to teaming with this guy, and was trying to figure out a proper skill set. You gave me a pretty dam good blue print for it. Only thing I'm going to have to work on is getting some CTC gear. What's hilarious is I still have a tals guardian, because it was cheapest res gear I could find on the AH. Most decent chest armor I could find with str/vit, 600 def, and about 50 res all went for minimal 500k.

Regardless I'm having legions of trouble surviving with 8.4k def, 34k hp, and 700-750 res all in act 3. I need a viability and this may just be the way to go lol. My only issue when I tested the version I used was running out of fury. So hopefully more ctc will help me on that...thanks again for the awesome guide.

    Edit:

In regards to using a shield, I really can see the boost in survival from it. People seem to only see the "block rate" and not the "block amount". Having block rate doesn't seem to really help, but block amount is really what saves you. I tried using the helm of command with a 26% block rate shield. The only diff I noticed was i blocked more...(still took dmg and got 1 shoted by elites lol). When I upgraded that shield to the highest block amount..which i think is like 2.7-3.5k..it really helped just my sword and board barb out alot.

    Heyo again everyone,

First off once again thanks to everyone here, I was able to beat belial 3 man! Got as far as the catapults in act 3, before I had to stop lol. Like everyone has stated before both resistances, and defense are important. I didn't realize this until I noticed just how good leap with the rune that boosts your defense by 300% was. I still can die in act 2 if I'm not careful, but long as I have the right skill set its pretty hard for me to go down.

Venom, I actually have a 703 dps dagger with a star amethyst for 300 life on hit. I'm being told that to survive act 3, you need about 1k life on hit. So i'm going to try and find something to fit that. The reason I went dagger, is in order to get my resistances up, I had to drop my attack speed gear. So with life on hit you still need a decent attack speed to build up with fury, in order to survive.

From my own experience in game, and from what people said above. Block rate doesn't seem to mean jack lol. I lowered my block rate alot, because I found a shield with 80 vit, and 65 res all. It had a good block amount 2.7-3.5k or so. All I noticed when I had the same helm as venom aka helm of command, and a 27% block rate shield is that I blocked more. Did it lower the amount of damage I seemed to take any differently? No. In fact several times I blocked a power attack from say a berserker, and I would still get 1 shoted (at least until I upped my gear). I'm sure block has an advantage only when you have extremely high res, defense, and damage reduction gear..then i'm guessing it probably shines aka stormshield ;p

One thing I did do in the belial fight is when berserk was up, I threw on a 2 hander. Once it wore off I switched back to sword/board. Hardest thing about that fight was for us to get the dodging explosion down lol. Now to figure out how to survive in act 3 >.<.

Oh, and I tried to find a blue 9XX dps weapon...guess there hard to find these days lol. Well back to farming goblins ;p

    Heyo everyone,

Just wanted to say I've been following this thread because I'm in the same boat. Not sure how far you got in act 2 solo, but I was able to get up to where you have to get kule's blood and the other part of him. I'm actually only at about 500 res all, but my block rate is alot higher than yours. I'm using a Stalwart dreadshield of interception which is 1033 def 26% block rate with block amount 2794-3704 and all it has is 14% life. That plus helm of command gives me a woppin 34% block rate. Saves my arse lol.

In terms of res, these guys are right. I have a monk friend who walks around with 1k res in act 1, and he still dies to elites once and a whlie. As I read on here:

    http://us.battle.net...opic/5149150485

Which someone mentioned earlier, defense is a must. Though you still got about 1k more defense than me. Honestly at this point I'm thinking the only way to survive is to have insane hp. I seen a guy walking around with 60k hp, and still pulls off decent dps and high res. He makes it look like a walk in the park lol.

I've tried pretty much very combo I can think of in regards to builds, but in the end I stick with the same:

    http://us.battle.net...SXkP!Vbc!accacZ

The only diff is I switch out berserk for brawler, but I'm currently still doing jailer/butcher runs. I did try out ignore pain again, which I do love...but then I get in bad bad trouble with elites. Seems like having 2 skills to get out of danger saves my arse alot.

I tried rend but honestly it didn't do crap for me. I keep hearing either that its good, or that it bugged. I'll have to check it out again.

I'd post a screenie of my character too, but I'm on my other computer to post lol. Probably not better than what you have by any means. I can tell you i got 30k hp 500 res all, 7.6k def buffed and about 12k dps. I really need to get my vit and str to an even 1k, but hard to find gear like you stated. I'm thinking about trying to get a string of ears for the DR %, and see how that helps out.

What really blows my mind is my weapon has 400 life on hit, and its still not enough to survive sometimes lol. I just started messing around with act 2 today, so I'll see what I can figure out. For sure the enemies hp is not the problem, its the crazy elemental dmg. It spikes so high compared to act 1, and I took quite fast notice of it. Wasps poison is just insane, and as is any elite shooting lasers out its arse. I take less dmg from the elite blocking the path to magda (gold mallet demon) then a cultist shooting a fireball lol.

So i'm guessing to get more LoH, gotta find rings and ammy to stack with weapon, which is already socketed with amy. Anyone know a safe LoH # for act 2+?

Just wanted to thank all you guys, cause I wouldn't have gotten as far as I did without reading all this. Now I just need to win the lottery (in game joke of course) and buy a stormshield lol.

The big thing is... if you're not in Inferno, don't comment on Inferno. You can't speculate. You can't say "oh, well Hell is kinda easy now so I guess Inferno is gonna be the same". Its not. I can easily farm act 1 Inferno, where it was a massive wall when I first got there. Act 2 is the massive wall now. In 2 weeks, I may be comfortable in act 2 and start act 3. I'm just guessing that there is a massive wall inc there, too. However, I'm running out of places to add +resist all while keeping my damage over 10k...

You're right I'm not in inferno, however my information came directly from people on these very boards. So unless the people who are handling inferno are providing false information (which I doubt they'd waste there time to do), I see nothing wrong with using second hand experience. After all, people google responses all the time. So don't come in and flame me for not completing inferno please.

All I simply said is (and I will repeat it, since you skipped over reading it). If you played through any difficulty, there is a noticeable boost in difficulty between act 1 and act 2. You can see that in normal, night mare, hell mode, and inferno (unless people again are pulling my leg).

I asked some pretty basic questions, instead it was responded with insults. I love it.

I just tire of people wining about something that was designed to be difficult. I also was just commenting that monk has advantages other classes have.

Glad to see your getting further quickshot, keep up the awesome work!

    Heyo everyone,

Just wanted to give an update on my playing. So I started this build at lvl 17, and now I'm 42 in nm. I already have a character towards the end of hell mode, so I know pretty much what to expect there. Its pretty much like you keep saying quickshot, "Dont stand in the fire". He's not saying that metaphorically, he's saying that literally LOL. As in the fire on the ground that's doing dot to you.

Now one thing I've noticed, which I haven't seen mentioned here is this. I've noticed that depending on your set up of dual wielded weapons, the attack speed can actually vary on each hand. Simple way I tested this was opened up my inventory, hit details, and watched the attack speed stat, as my monk used fists of thunder. If you watch the animation, the monk will switch hands each attack. One thing I found cool though, was even if your off hand has lower attack speed but it has say an ias affix. It'll still boost your main hands attack speed. I'm obviously trying to keep my weapons above 1.50 attack speed (base), but I found say a rare that gave a nice hefty ias boost.

I'm really digging this build, and it works bad ass co-op with my demon hunter friend. Long as he lets me go forward and build up, and is smart enough to spam smoke screen, the mobs are always on me (since obviously his dps exceeds mine). Currently at my point I don't really have to spam mantra of healing, due to already having 3 skills that heal me. One thing I am using that helps is Beacon of Ytar, which reduces all cooldowns by 15%. Allowing me to cast BOH, serenity, and blinding flash much faster. And no I don't skip any elite mobs.

All I'm going to say is 3 healing abilities, and other classes have...none? So I really don't see how monk isn't superior in going into harder difficulties. In terms of getting 1 shoted...i'm curious what the hp of the people who are getting 1 shoted inferno is at. I'm also curious what their dex is as well. Because I would figure if I wanted to survive inferno super unique elite mobs, I would just find the hp that would allow me to NOT be 1 shoted. Be it 60k-100k.

Another thing is I'm sure we all know that after act 1, the game gets harder. Any person playing through "normal" mode can notice that. Especially once you hit act 3, and are fighting a screen full of mobs, who have alot more at their disposal than previous acts. I'm not doubting that act 2-4 inferno isn't difficult, but I am doubting that its unplayable.

Once I hit 60, I'll start trying some variations on this build myself. Thanks again quickshot~

Just wanted to say this is an awesome build! Really enjoyed your vids quickshot~

I myself had a monk around lvl 17 or so, and wasn't sure where to go with it. From my experience with my DH, who's in act 2 of hell mode at lvl 55, I know healing is a must have. So your build pretty much takes advantage of the biggest advantage of the game. No other class can heal like monk can.

I was actually thinking of lvling my monk up solely, so I have something for taking on inferno when the chance arises. My DH is fine, but in a long drawn out fight I think DH looses its shine, due to cool downs.

To top it off, this is like the good ole zeal paladin with healing included lol.

So either case I wasn't sure exactly how to to set my skills, just cause I don't have all that you have listed for the build yet.

    Here's what I'm using at lvl 29:

    http://us.battle.net...k#aiXYgQ!!ZaZZa

I'm pretty much at lvl 30, bout to finish off act 4. So I should be in NM soon. Thanks again for the bad ass build :D

posted a message on What builds are you using?
    Heyo everyone,

Seems like this is the only forums around that post some good builds. Like I saw some people posting earlier, I went the non ranged weapon route as well. Reason I choose this is due to a habit from some good ole d2 mods. More dex = more dodge and more block rate. I literally stood in front of the final boss and blocked/dodged all his attacks. Top it off long as you can keep smoke screen up, the monsters/boss just stands there picking their nose lol.

I'm holding out till I can get shiruken cloud, but current my twin chakrams are my main attack. I was using impale with impact on bosses, but now they seem to have a crap load more life (meaning fight drags out longer), and there minions have alot more hp. If they do perhaps reach me, and smoke screen isn't up, or I want to finish off a mob I toss up fan of knives with retaliate.

This is my current skill set:
    http://us.battle.net....eXVh!bXV!.aZaZ

What I'd like to know from some of the higher lvl demon hunters out there, is what is your dps? Right now I'm about lvl 35 ish, and doing bout 705 dps. I pretty much have all my gear dex with vit when I can afford it. I achieve the dps with a mostly dex, +damage rings/ammy, and a weapon socketed with a ruby (currently p-ruby) .

Recently due to nightmare I had to keep my eye out for gear that had dex/vit/int for resistances. I'm guessing though if I dual wielded crossbows with rubies socked, I could probably do even more damage. Though that comes at a price. Just like sacrificing dex for vit, or int. That's how I see it at least.

Honestly this build sucks prior to getting chakram, because Impale costs to much hate to spam. And really shines with smoke screen (since you can keep dps going while having it up). Now my main thoughts on why I wanted to be in the "fray" and not back far off with a bow, is due to the similar idea that "hammerdins" (yes we all hated them) in d2 used. Not sure if any noticed, but if you use the twin chakram, and stand right in front of a creature, BOTH hit them (then continue onwards lol). Since even with fast attack speed, being far away still takes a second or so before it reaches the target or when you get the aim right. So hitting with two at a time, is very nasty.

We'll see how I survive in hell mode, and through any other challenges this game throws at me. I just like to play unique builds, and had tons of fun with a melee sorc in d2. The melee wiz in d3 just isn't the same as d2 melee sorc lol.

I wouldn't recommend any die hard gamer, who wants to take this class to its max potential by using this build. I simply am doing it for fun. Though it may be more useful in pvp.

One last note, anyone else feel like there playing castlevania with a demon hunter? Lol, I swear using skills like vault, throwing knives, and chakrams all over the place makes me feel like a vampire hunter @_@.

    Edit:

Nearly forgot to ask, does anyone know if the beta info from the legendary items or set items is anything near accurate? I'd be awesome if natalya's set was in the game....just curious ;p
