during blizzcon 2009 they brought up a new fury thing with barbs, just like warriors on WoW they will have fury...personally i think this is retarded i like what they did on the first gameplay video when barbarian had sort of like mana but wasnt mana i like that i hate the fury thing i mean...it makes since and all but i just hate it

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. The inhabitants of Sanctuary have life and mana. That's it. As far as I'm concerned, the abilities and special attacks of the Barbarian are physically impossible and therefore require some magical aid. Therefore, mana is required.

Poo on rage.
Thats not true once mana is not but a game mechanic without any important background.
Also they announced that every class will have a different resource for skills, only the WD will stay with mana. This stuff change ALOt during development, but thats their idea at the moment.
About rage, i don't think it's not cool. I really feel the WoW's division of mana, rage and energy are great. It allows a great diversity among characters.
Mana are character that have full power on the begnning of the fight but can loose it's fuel in a absolut way and become helpless. Those character requires a wise tatic and long term planning.
Fury character are character that starts weaker but grows stronger as the battle goes by, typical of berzerking like monsters and warriors.
"Energy" (wich we don't have yet in D3) are character that are constant along the battle, they are allways limited to unleash it's full power but never enters a situation were they are helpless.
This different style of play is great and bring up the possibility of please a wider range of people. I wonder what more they can creat in D3.
What pisses me off about fury is that they chose the name "fury". They're giving the people who think D3 is changing into WoW more fuel to add to the fire. Call it rage, wrath, pissed offness for crying out loud.
Perhaps I was vague in my previous post. From what I understand about Sanctuary and the Diablo series, a Barbarian wouldn't stop using mana and convert to another form of ability. Here's my reasoning:
-Angels and Demons hooked up and gave birth to Bul-Kathos.
-Bul-Kathos is the progenitor of Barbarians.
-Each generation of Barbarians grow weaker because of the Worldstone.
-With the destruction of the Worldstone, humans have regained their weakened abilities and are becoming more like the original Nephalem.
Mana is not a simple game mechanic - it's part of the Diablo world. Mana is the fuel to cast magical abilities tied to the Ethereal Plane of Sanctuary.
However, Blizzard trumps all. If they say no mana, then no mana it is.
i know there getting different things like mana and fury and stuff to use skills but what i said is that if you watch the gameplay vid with barbarian and witchdoctor in it the barbarian wasnt exactly using mana it was brighter and could see the FX easier thats what i wanted...and i also said i understand the fury concept of him getting madder i just dont like having 0 all the time then having to hit something to use skills cuz then against wizards in duel or starting off fighting spell casters your kinda screwed...
Just stick with mana. They're so hellbent on changing every single detail so they would come out as the ingenious, creative squad or some shit. If it isn't broken, don't fix it. Mana is for magic..the barb's abilities take some magic to be done, else they would be just normal attacks..by substitution, the barb needs mana.
Not some fucking bullshit substance secreted by his balls when he gets ANGRY.
I actually like the name Rage or Wrath much better than Fury atleast thats different from WoW. And yea they also gotta calm down with the whole hey lets change everything about the Diablo games. Now we dont have mana for the barb and we dont have tp's anymore. I wouldent be surprised if they made the WD use Black Magic isntead of mana.

Nothing was wrong with it i guess they just want to make the barb seem less magical.

There are advantages to having a different ressource, such as not having to worry about how all Mana modifiers affect the Barbarian and its skill balance. Its extremely important.
What I dislike about Fury is the 3 ball thing. 3? Thats it? ...uh? Okay. Thats lame. Seriously. I wish it wasn't an actual number of balls, but closer to mana. Its like having a character works on "3 mana".. it just... I don't know. It makes no sense, its too small, I hate it.
Perhaps post this on a Blizz site? I bet they'd at least read it and consider things.
Like Mockery mentioned while at BlizzCon, they listen! Couldn't hurt...
*Edit: Oh, and SFJake, I don't think it is a 3 ball thing meaning 3 uses. I recall that it needs to build up, for some reason I'm remembering 3 times. So that's either 9 uses or however much a certain ability uses. No way 3 uses, that'd be depleted so fast.

Well I never noticed any ability using less than 1, or something. The build up is just what it takes to get a new ball, its not actually used for your abilities. Well, thats what it looked like to me.
Well i like the whole charge up system their trying to do but im just not sure that the 3 orbs are the best way to do it.

But there will still be gear that affects "fury," so it wouldn't change a damn thing in that respect. It's certainly not "extremely important." It's a completely pointless change that is almost universally hated. As someone mentioned earlier, they're really just adding fuel to the "hate D3" fire by fixin' what ain't broke. I wouldn't mind it as much if I could see any point in the change, but the fact is, there really isn't one.
What?
It wouldn't change a damn thing in that respect?
You are the reason I got banned 1 week, because I lose control over people that don't think before answering.
It changes a LOT of things. It allow completely separated control of both ressources instead of having modifiers that deals both at once. This also means unique modifiers for the Barbarian's fury that would not be available to the Wizard because it would be broken, or vice versa.
Also, you don't see any point... lets see. Mana is an ever changing ressources. It grows and different characters can have different mana pools. Magics and abilities needs to be carefully balanced around the idea that you can throw them around constantly.
Fury's primary goal (one I agree with, but its not designed in the best way) is that it limits the Barbarian's unique abilities in a way that cannot be just spammed all the time one after the other, but because of fast regeneration, will still be used often. Its a way more fitting way to balance the Barbarian's abilities considering its role.

o they charge up different orbs? thats pretty cool i didnt know that though...but i still dont really like it but i do get the whole getting angrier thing
Why couldent it just be a ring that charges up isntead of orbs that would be so much more simpler.
