My life is pretty boring at times. While I'd love to sit on a forum all bloody day and chit-chat about Diablo or whatever else comes to mind, I just don't think I have the patience for it.
With that being said, I ask how you fine ladies & gents pass the time on your computer? Any suggestions? Anything will do, but let's try to keep it safe-for-work material, folks.
I'll try to keep a list of the recommendations in this first post, so that everybody can come back to it & find something to help them pass the time!

When I was working at a mortgage company and the ship was slowly sinking with basically nothing to do but wait until we lost our jobs...I used to browse these forums a ton. I would also check out pricewatch.com and figure out what stuff I'd like to buy someday. From what I remember just did a lot of web surfing reading different articles and stuff.
I personally found it funny since, well, I'm canadian.
Its a really fun game you should try it out sometime

You said that most flash games won't work? I suggest looking at the puzzle/strategy side of the flash games. Many of those games doesn't require you to be active all the time. You can do a few moves,
do a little work, then do some more moves.
I LURVE THE ESCAPE ROOM GAMES!
Mostly I avoid flash games because of the noise; games that I can mute are best. Also I prefer games that are turn based and/or don't have time limits. Thanks for recommending these! +1 rep!
Combat arms is really fun. I have a clan that is for legit players only. Mostly older guys, 30+. but as long as you are 16+ you can enter. We have ventrilo and everything. we got on everynight at 8:00PM ET.
If you want to play with us pm me. or go to www.combatpolice.tk and apply for a position.
That game, despite being a MUD (multi-user dungeon, basically fancy language for MMO in text), is fucking incredible to play, and insanely addictive. I've logged over 400 hours on my one character :/.
Theres a thread I started about it, if you want to learn what the game is all about, go check out that thread.
The creator of the game also stopped in for a chat, he's KaVir if anyone is wondering.
edit: And it's work safe as well, many of the players on it play it during work or school.

Oh man. MUDs. I remember playing one that was based in a DragonLance setting. Oh, those were the days...
It's a browser based strategy game where you basically control a single town. From there you harvest resources, build new buildings, research technologies and build units to defend/attack your neighbours. Since each "move" requires time to complete (upwards of 1-2 hours) and it takes time for your resources to gather, it's a good game to play when you're multitasking with something that needs your attention more than the game does.
By definition it is an MMO. I'm playing on Server 9. My name is Savorien.
Come join me. Oh and build an embassy so we can start an alliance against other players.
Oh !
Just remembered another browser based game that I used to play, it's a space based game. www.ogame.org
Pretty damn fun game, basically like every other turn based broswer game. You make buildings, collect resources, make armies, and kill shit.
One of the strong points on this game is it's extensive upgrade section though, it was really fun getting them all.
