Only thing he wants is where guns shouldn't be, like Washington D.C. and stuff. Everywhere else is fine.
Which really makes sense.
so the people there should not allowed to bear arms? Isnt that going against the constitution where that is the basis of our government? hmmm....yea i am going to go get my FFL (Federal Firearm Licence) now before you are not allowed to do so anymore. Pfft...with the way this economy is getting (bad) and the crime rate because of it going through the roof, i think i will fend for myself with a gun incase someone tries something stupid. He might have the right intensions as the president, but those intensions have unforseen troubles.
My Bad points...
Gauntanamo Bay closing means the release of several upon several high terrorists back to their countries
Ignoring the US Constitution...yea
Locking away his own history since him being an American citizen to become the president is being carried out in the Judicial Supreme Court. Obama locked away all this information...hmm...i wonder why?
Not keeping good relations with Russia...hmm 2 super power countries butting heads against each other...yea
He stated that a change is needed in the war against terrorism when he is only feeding more into it by sending more troops.
My Good Points....
He is a good public speaker...50x better than Bush.
Well there is my two cents into the matter.

Well, it can be argued that over half of the guantanamo bay prisoners admitted to acting against the U.S. under torture...
I agree that hand guns should be allowed in the capital, but...idk... Complicated issue...
Russia, what's going on with Russia? I haven't heard anything about that... o.o;
I'm not seeing where he is feeding troops into Iraq... Afghanistan, yea, but that's the actual problem nation, but I'm not seeing Iraq... I AM seeing where he is trying to reduce the numbers in Iraq though...
And yea, a friend once told me, Republicans love Regan because he was the last Republican who was a good speaker. xD!

The government can't completely infring upon our rights.. but they can make amendments that can basically destroy those rights or alter them to the point where they no longer contain their original meaning.

@Thassadar Honestly, I don't care one way or another. Shit, I'd rather have Hillary then McCain...
McCain... *Shudders*
@ 3CXOD Someone can only take what you are willing to give... And I butchered that quote...
I agree with you simply on the grounds that if McCain died in office (which he had a high probability of doing so given his age in comparison to other presidents) then we'd have Sarah Palin taking up the mantle.
I never want to see her face amongst the list of presidents. Period.
On another note, I'm currently in college studying Political Economics and it's a fairly pressing issue, as we all know. I think it's also unfair to ask whether or not Obama himself is bad.
He's only one man, and I think people lose sight of how legislation actually occurs. It's not just him that calls the shots - he's just the spokesman for it. Don't forget that Congress can present Bills and override vetos.
But even as we enter the second quarter of the year, it will still be difficult to see what Obama has done well. The problem with making changes is that things are not immediate - yet people clamor for immediate results. This is a huge problem in politics because the answer to these problems may not be something achieved in months - even years. Politicians are seeking fast actions to appease the public and get reelected when they should be making decisions that are good for the long-term.
Whether or not Obama has done a good job will not be seen in the immediate future.
On another note, there as a great article about how Obama is related to the Manchurrian Candidate. It is true that whenever Obama opens his mouth to talk about his further economic plans the stock market seems to fall.

We can do everything about it. We've just become so complacent, it will take something big to make us get off our asses. Like, I don't know, unconstitutional wire-tapping of citizens. Oh wait, nevermind, I guess we really are fucked.
On the plus side of this economic shit storm, a lot of states seem to be at least thinking about drug law reform. Obama ended federal raids on medicinal marijuana dispensaries. Tom Ammiano of California recently put forth a bill to legalize marijuana in California and tax the crap out of it, expecting to make $1 billion annually.
I feel like legalization could happen within 20 years. If California sets precedent, more states will fall like dominoes.

Well, the problem is, at least where I live, wanting to bear arms is viewed as a conservative promotion, and since currently conservatives, all of them, are viewed by the, in all honesty, heavily liberal news stations and majority of the populace as religious bigots, bubble-dwellers, war-mongers, etc. (If you really think you can refute this, you're retarded beyond all reason.), this opinion is not given any respect or consideration where I live. At all. Conservative is a veritable curse word here.
In my honest opinion, I was hoping President Obama would be passing at least some bipartisan legislature by now, or at least showing signs of trying to do so. Anyone that knows anything about politics knows that if one side is pushed beyond the brink, they'll bounce back with a vengeance, and I don't want to have to relive a heavy conservative era. Also, anyone that knows anything about politics realizes that both conservatism and liberalism both contain good things and bad things, and both should actually be considered. This is really just not happening right now, in the wake of the Ex-President Bush disaster.
Anyway, I'm getting away from my point there. So far I've only seen President Obama nicely chatting with various minor party spokesmen. I have yet to see him pass anything that isn't on his ticket. While this is good that he's actually sticking to his ticket (which I heavily respect), he also has to realize that he can't only push for one side of America. As a president, he has to moderate the two. In my opinion, the position of President, since it's developed far from its original purpose, has to be one of balancing.
Given, I do appreciate most of the decisions he's made so far, but as far as trying to unify the two sides of our country (it's unfortunate that as a country we're so polarized), he's really offered nothing but talk. He's a good talker, but we need more action. Or, like I said, there will be a major political mindset swing, and he'll be caught in the middle of it, which I do not want to see happen to him.
Also, he's only been in for a few months now, so he still has some years to go. I'm sure he has plans to balance the two sides of the equation here, because he's obviously not an idiot. You guys have to realize, though, that to conservatives he's just as atrocious as Governor Palin is to you guys, so it will be a hard barrier to breach, unfortunately, if he remains completely one-sided like Governor Palin does.
Please don't take anything I said there in the wrong spirit. Also, I'm not very smart, these are mostly just opinions.
*Waits for the heavy-quoting post slaughter to begin.*
What does that post have to do with President Obama, and where is the political back up in it? Just kind of curious
(No, I'm really not trying to seem like I'm attacking you or anything. I'm trying really hard not to, in fact, so this thread can stay reasonable. Please give me an e-slap if you feel like I did.)
Palin...is scary... Period... Thus it was said, thus it was written into stone...
Also, glad to see snopes did that article about Obama's birth, now this bullshit about him being some African Muslim out to burn the White House can be put to rest.
ok so on the good side... hes manned up and took responsibility for his mistakes... he made a mistake like two weeks into office... dont remember what for... but he looked into the camer and said... i messed up. on the bad side... hes bailing everybody out... in capitalism, you sink or you swim... what obama is doing is putting life rafts under all these big businesses who spend theirselves into a hole... look at aig... they might be going under and the govt would have to be giving them huge ammounts of cash in order to stay afloat... this would be less than a month after giving high ranking ceos and vendors hundreds of millions of dollars in yearly bonuses... thats complete horseshit... he is throwing an economic stimulus package out there... which is really a double edged sword... its throwing more money out there for people to spend... but the likliehood of people spending that money on something to improve the economy is slim to none the way the dow is lately... people arent going to invest that money in companies... they are instead going to invest that money in themselves... by keeping that money in their hands. i mean honestly... hes spending money like crazy... but that old saying... sometimes you gotta spend money to make money... that absolutely pertains here because honestly we are gonna have to deeper into debt and deeper into recession in order to climb out of it and reach our economic potential.
I could care less where Obama was born, honestly. I'm more concerned about parentship and the environment.
Congratulations on getting into GIT!
