Vampires, Werewolves, and Zombies are all boring in my opinion. However, there are some variations of each that I like better than others.
o.O, They are boring? What is interesting in your opinion then?

Zombies are good. All the scary noises and actions.
They even come in different flavors ... err, i mean different types.

How ironic to think that this thread was raised from the dead...
Anyway, Vampires are without doubt my favorite type of undead.
I hope they'll have a real introduction in Diablo3 and not just be some old mummy looking monster.
Vampires in Diablo would be so epic.
Long as they don't go overboard with the blood and undeath, they'd be perfect as something playable. (Also, remember that in D2, in both Mephisto's and Andariel's lair, their versions of vampires do exist.)
I do identify with some versions of vampires very much, but I fervently dislike when too much emphasis is placed on how cool and/or horrific it is to suck blood. I understand and appreciate the allegorical reason for the feeding, but I am much more interested in the psychological effects of immortality and the conflicting ideals in vampiric society -- from the ethics of feeding practices to how best to adapt to the changes in mortal civilisation (or whether to adapt at all).
There is a lot of very interesting ground to cover without dwelling on drilling into the reader/viewer/player's head 'Wow, vampires have fangs and suck blood, isn't that awesome?'

‘I'M NOT LEAVING UNTIL WE ALL HAVE AIDS!’—The importance of calling them ‘mercenaries.’
Those suave, elegant vampires are the ones i love. Seducing women, drinking expensive wine, eating luxorious foods, living in a large, dark castle/mansion atop a hill - my dream come true.
However, some so called vampires, such as the ones in '30 Days of Night' are just smart zombies.
A true vampire does not jump around in clear sight killing people, he's meant to be smooth and seductive, luring beautiful women to their demise.

Look up Stephen Meyer, there's a cult (fan club) worshiping her books.
