Anyone that doesn't know who Goku is should shoot themselves in the face. Though Vegeta pwns Goku, Goku is still the most recognizable character, because he's the goddamn main character!!
There are good things to be obsesseed with and bad things, and it also depends how bad your obsession is.
Say, if you are obsessed with watching anime, but you can control yourself and do other stuff in your life like homework/friends/girlfriends (or boyfriends)/spending time with family, then obsession is fine, you've found something you really can love doing yet you can control yourself.
But if you're always searching the net or download anime and watching or always looking for anime on TV and you pretty much almost won't do anything else, then your obsession is bad.

Obsession is good, as long as its in some way productive.
Exactly, like if you create anime shows, then go ahead, I encourage you to be obsessed with anime. However, people who do nothing with anime except be obsessed with it is what I am questioning. Also, I'm sure many of us have experienced an obsessive obsession. Diablo II, I was uncontrollable with it for 3 years.

I don't have a gun at home.

Why are you saying it like anime is the only case? It's just happens like that, people love it or hate it... I mean, if it is not your thing don't bother with it.

I can understand addiction to alchohol, chocolate, ciggaretes, and drugs. Your body becomes dependent on them and leaving them could damage your body or change things. IE - My mom stopped smoking and her metabolism slowed.
I also gave an example about me with Diablo II, so I don't understand what you mean by "only case." I also don't understand how such addictions are scientifically possible, and I'm asking how they are. I was just using anime as an example, and I was using Diablo II as another.
It's not my thing, but I like to debate.
Chaosdragon, one time I broke my Diablo II CD in half. I swear, could have recorded it and put epic music in the background. Then the music stops, slo-mo, and boom it shatters all over the floor.
Yes it is. And no matter how long ago it was you'd remember his name I haven't done anything with pokemon sense about the end of third grade but I could still probably name the original 150 if I saw their pictures.
What if I described one though?
Name the big purple slime (non-evolved form) that lives in Sewers etc.

Probably it's not addiction in the same sense as smoking, but rather just your brain seeking rewards.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.

Yea but that's physical addiction. I never had any so I can't tell you about it.
I was only addicted to Heretic/heXen, some other things I would rather not mention, but my greatest obsession was LEXX, and kinda still is except I pretty much did everything there was to do with it. For me it didn't bring any harm at all. Just made me very-very happy for quite a period of time...

I have no idea how your addiction with Diablo went.
I feel like I'd rather discuss why 40+ year old men go to football games and paint their shirtless fat ugly bodies in horribly garish colors representing their favorite team and scream their asses off while getting ridiculously drunk at the same time. Is it even about football anymore at that point?
In my opinion that sort of behavior is far worse than the occasional anime episode I enjoy watching.
I haven't touched anything Japanese in a while, but there's still plenty of decent anime out there, and a whole lot... not as decent. Normally I think the mangas are better though, but that is a personal preference.
Naruto and such have their own, simple charm, but they are generally very stereotypical and can get annoying at times. For me the most enjoyable series are those for a more matured audience. Two of the best ones I ever read have never been made into anime, and hopefully never will: 20th Century Boys (incredibly well told story made in a more realistic drawing style) and Blade of the Immortal (bloody, brutal, absolutely gorgeous artwork and the feeling is hard to beat, if you are lucky enough to find it). Both are strongly recommended, whether or not you like anime. It's just a matter of attitude, and I can fully understand how anime haters think, but I do still find it enjoyable
@ Equinox: I understand sports fans who don't play the sport. It's like liking music without playing an instrument (though sports aren't a form of art...), which is understandable. What I don't understand, however, are sports fans who don't really care about the sport, but are only in it for the "supporting" part of the deal.

"So I like climb out the window and I fall because we’re on the third floor , but it’s cool, because I land where my arm used to be, but it’s not there so it doesn’t hurt. And I’m thinking, yeah, man, this no arm thing is kinda chill."
The only anime I ever watched and actually liked was Appleseed. My brother enjoyed the show with Vash The Stampede... I forget what it was called but I saw that a couple times... wasn't bad, just not awesome. Also, I wouldn't mind Ghost in the Shell had I saw some of the beginning. Starting in the middle of an anime series is fucking impossible.
And Winston, good luck buddy. Lol.

It seems to be easier to remove Diablo II then to not play it while it's on your computer still... it's probably like this with all games though...

I know who Goku is...
I just don't know what he looks like in all the 5000 kajillion forms he has.
