What are you getting/giving for Christmas this year? Personally, I hate Christmas, but once all the bullshit is out of the way, it's actually a lot of fun watching people open the gifts I got them.
I have no idea what I'm getting this year. The only thing I asked specifically for was a crowbar. I've gotten lots of other people gifts, but I won't bore you with that stuff. If I do get a crowbar, I'll show you all a picture of it. Before I go zombie hunting.
I'm just going to get a lot of crap for my family, like stuff from Victoria's Secret for my sister, some skateboard stuff for my brother, like Vans shoes, etc.

Don't get me wrong though. I like giving gifts. I just hate shopping for gifts. It brings out the worst in people. Everyone's driving becomes like 35 percent suckier and their overall attitudes turn into bitch and asshole.
Siaynoq already explained it, christmas is about family reunion and not gifts or freaking holidays.
Oh I missed skipped that sentence as I was reading over this thread.
But yeah, I agree. Christmas is about a lot of things. It's mostly kind of about love and selflessness, since it is a religious holiday.

Hahaha! It's so true. Those damn fat people in the mall being a bitch/asshole to everyone don't really make me smile and feel loved.

Oh that's a good one.
I'm getting a 22" monitor so that I can fully take advantage of my HD4850. Then I'll play Episode 2 (no, I haven't played it yet).

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
For me, Christmas is all about the food - I spent all year with good eating habits, being healthy and whatnot. Then at the end of the year I just turn into a fatass gluton and undo all the good work
I hate christmas too (and birthdays). I don't like receiving gifts, because all the attention is suddenly on me and everyone is waiting for some kind of reaction. But I'm not the kind of person who really 'reacts' to anything, so I always feel like I'm offending everyone. Its just too much pressure. Also the pressure for buying gifts for others is bad too. I don't mind gifts on any other day, but its just especially bad on christmas and birthdays because everyone has to buy a gift, and so the quality of the gift isn't always as good and therefore the reactions aren't as good. I'm not a good actor, I can't force fake reactions. But of course its good when you really do get a good gift from someone or for someone else.
I do really like family gatherings though. They are much fun.
I have no clue what I'm getting. Probably a couple of dvd's and a couple of shirts or something. I already got most of my christmas present a month ago when my mom and grandma bought me my new computer. And my dad kind of gave me a christmas present too, his Scattante bike because he broke the bottom bracket on my Giant, a real race bike. But the Scattante is sooo sweet too. Carbon fibre stem, fork, seatpost, wheels, titanium cranks, Chorus shifters and gears and derailers. This bike is pretty friggin trick. Actually, I'll post a pic!!
I don't mind the gifts part, but I am not digging the whole Christ b-day thing, when science proves he wasn't born on Dec 25th. Oh, and I can't really give gifts this year because I'm flat broke. Well gifts to anyone but my girlfriend. She gets a Tiffany's necklace. That's right ladies, I know how to treat a girl.:P

Science proved nothing, nor can it prove anything. It's a process of observation, from which people draw logical conclusions. If anything, logically-minded historians proved it wasn't. Most people knew that anyway, though. Only extremist Catholics firmly believed that until the recent ages.
The 25 of December is the birth of the Persian God Mithra (spell check). It was adopted by (I want to say Emperor Constantine?) as a compromise between his recent conversion to Catholicism (which became Roman Catholicism, which most Catholics practice today- strictly different from Biblical teaching). The importance of Mithra, is, as far as I know, that he was a god of invincibility that gladiators sacrificed to regularly to assure their survival in coliseums. Since gladiator fights were the basis for most of the culture of the Roman Empire, completely dispelling the religion would have likely resulted in an unpleasant (and short) rule for him. And so he compromised. Jesus was supposedly born in the spring, I *think*. Someone might want to look that up if they really care that much.
Yeah, the only reason I knew that was because I watched a special on it recently on the Discovery channel. One of the only channels worth watching IMO
As for me, my family is deeply Protestant. I'm not, but I respect their beliefs and traditions and enjoy it with them, and they respect my individuality, which is rare. We don't give gifts, though, since they believe it deludes the actual meaning of the celebration. We just eat a lot

I saw a crowbar at Walmart yesterday. Maybe I should buy it and mail it to you, Siay.

Is it because of religious reasons or personal reasons?

I believe religious reasons are personal reasons, lol.
