Wait....did anyone else catch what Josh said at the end of the interview vid (bottom of page on link)?
He said "We've been concentrating on one platform at a time. First we developed PC, and then the console, now we're back to the PC".
Love all the exciting things I'm hearing, but that right there, seriously, fuck you Blizzard for not doing this 6-8 months ago. Seriously, fuck you.
If that's not a mistake of his part, ouch!
Just sayin....myself and several others have pointed out this not-so-incidental lapse in substantial patching and much needed retooling of the PC game. Others wanted to point out our ignorance by stating these are separate teams. If I'm not mistaken, Blues @ Bnet have said the same thing.
....and then there we have it, straight from the horses mouth. They put the much needed itemization fixes on hold to release a god damn console version. I knew it....I frickin knew it.
There are separate teams but most of the workforce was transferred to the console so the console could start flying. Now everyone's back on the PC team.

That's beside the point. If it weren't for this console endeavor (which I think will fail), we'd likely be playing RoS by now. Considering the stale launch and the woeful state of many of D3's most important aspects, I'd say this should be received as a slap in the face to the PC crowd.

Blizzard is going to expand/refresh the existing acts in addition to adding an act V. I believe they would do this in order to help with how stale the existing 4 acts have become. I'm not talking a re imagining of Sanctuary akin to WoW's Cataclysm... I simply mean them adding in additional zones and maps to the existing acts.
Think for example about Act 3:
* We currently only have 2/7 avatars of sin defeated-- This leaves ample room to add several more.
* When going down the 3 floors you hear the banter (cannot remember which hero/ follower it was for certain but i think it was the enchantress) complaining about how many stairs you've progressed down. Its only 3 Floors... this complaint would be more grounded if the actual distance progressed was longer.
In addition, there has been gameplay videos posted in different areas showing new units in existing zones.
Lastly -- Jay Wilson outright stated that they liked act IV being short... Well... as it is right now ... Its too short. No one ever fucking plays it.
It's not a slap to my face either because I'm not going to act like a petulent child over this shit. We are adults right? Not goddamned three-year-olds who throw a temper tantrum if we don't get a piece of chocolate immediately after dinner.... RIGHT? Life isn't fair. Get a damned helmet and pretend to be a man for fuck's sake.
It is how it is and if you don't like it you're free to go find another game developed by another company that doesn't slap you in the face. If you're unwilling to do that then, clearly, it's not nearly as big of a deal as you make it out to be.
Meh....get back to me next may when RoS still hasn't been released and tell me what you think.
I'm putting my money on a Feb - March release, unless they decide to bundle D3 vanilla and RoS for the next gen versions.
It looks to me like the drastic majority of development work they announced today was paragon and loot 2.0. Both of these being released as a patch -- and at this point should be mostly done.
The only actual new content in RoS (announced) is the Crusader and Act 5. Unless Blizzcon brings about new announcements like a new class, or the Talisman -- there's not enough stuff being released in the xpac to warrant that much of a delay.
^The different enemies in existing zones is just the loot run feature where the area and enemies are randomized.
Maybe so... but if blizzard was smart they would refresh existing areas to make me actually WANT to start new characters and play through non end game.

Oh settle down. Nobody's throwing a fit, you drama queen. Just having a discussion about why the PC platform has been so stagnant. Here we are waiting for this 1.09 itemization patch......for months.
Blizzard got caught in a lie.
Posted by Vaeflare We have a separate team of developers that have been dedicated to bringing Diablo III to consoles. While they and the PC team do collaborate from time to time to ensure that we're delivering an authentic Diablo III experience to consoles, the two teams operate independently.
The question is, what of all of that is Expansion exclusive and what is gonna come with a patch in D3 vanilla?.
From a blue:
We want to implement a lot of the new systems and features in a pre-expansion patch for free. That should include Paragon 2.0, Loot 2.0, Loot Runs, and Nephalem Trials. For now, you'll need to purchase the expansion to play as the Crusader, explore Act V, unlock the Mystic, and level up to 70. These details may change as development moves along, but we want some of the core gameplay improvements to be available for everyone.

Agreed. Dont see what the big deal is.
Do the math.
The console pushed back development of PC by anywhere from 6-12 months, maybe more. D3 PC wasn't a priority.
Don't get me wrong, I'm excited that Diablo 3 appears to actually be headed toward where we all hoped it would be at launch when it was announced some 4-5 years ago. They did make remarkable strides.......strides spent fixing their own mistakes and making the game playable.
They didn't relieve the lead director of his duties because Diablo 3 was awesome at launch. I like it now, it's where it should've been at launch, or at least close. SC play is a bit stagnant imo (due to flaccid itemization). But it's a fun little game.
RoS should've been done by now, and it would've been if it weren't for the way they choose to halt significant development in their zeal to launch a separate platform. RoSisn't even a concern of mine, I expected it would be a few years into D3 before we saw an xpac. It's the loot, man. Where's this 1.09 patch? Gone? Not happening? Renamed with a clever marketing jingle of Loot 2.0?
To find out that "Loot 2.0" still isn't coming out for (?) who knows how long due to console development, that don't sit right with me, especially knowing that the CM's communicated lies to us.
TBH I think RoS is coming out earlier than it should be because of the much needed overhaul of vanilla. :/
I was honestly surprised with the expansions announcement.
I feel a Spring release would be the latest we would get the game. However, depending upon how much we see at Blizzcon, I would say February would be the earliest. That is still almost six months till. But I am not surprised that they announced it now. Diablo 3 is kinda in the back of my mind. I will occasionally play it but that is like once a month right now. I am spending more time play LoL, SC2, and even WoW. So this feels, in my opinion, a bit late. It is something interesting to think about and with Paragon levels having more meaning in RoS, that it might get people back earlier so that they can get more for those extra stats. I know I want to get more paragon levels so I can hit harder.

No -- They haven't said anything at all themselves, the xpac website states "Coming 2014".
