After reading the Blizcon 2015 - Diablo is Dead post I had to say something, or perhaps ask. I don't understand fully why people are saying Diablo is dead, and if indeed it is dead, why?
I don't understand why that's being said in the first place. Diablo 3 RoS is still getting patched. If the game is dead than why even waste the time, effort, and (probably more importantly in a business) money releasing patches?
I understand Blizz isn't delivering on a time table that we would want, but that doesn't mean its over. I think there is a lot of hints that point in a direction that the game would continue on. I'd say the largest of these points is that they are gradually starting the shift into microtransactions. Apparently on the china side of the house they are starting already and it seems successful enough. Personally I think it's a great idea as long as it doesn't become pay to win.
I mention the microtransactions bc that's a money maker and everyone seems to think that Diablo is going to tank bc it's not making the money of something like Hearthstone. I can kinda understand that. Hearthstone probably takes close to nothing to develop and people seem to be eating that up. They said something like 75 million people are now playing. Well, I've heard anyway from 25-75 mil but still at its lowest estimate that is x5 the player base than WoW . That's 25mil people buying cards and expansion packs. From a business stand point Diablo probably doesn't look like a cash cow, but it could be.
So with all this negativity being thrown around I'd like to ask if anyone has anything positive to say about the longevity of Diablo. I don't think its over. I think there is still plenty of hope for the future of Diablo.

It's not even a booth. It's a corner of the Darkmoon Faire dressed to look like the Slaughtered Calf Inn. That's it. Diablo 3 is their only game not getting floor space. It's insulting. People have been actually wanting the microtransactions, at least in the form of stash space and pets, etc. We don't want it to become a f2p game, but majority of people I see talking about it, would be willing to pay for extra stash. But they don't listen.
As for Diablo 3 being "dead". No of course not and I don't think people actually mean that, it's just an exaggeration. However, it's pretty damning that Diablo 3 is getting even less presence at BlizzCon than they did last year.
It's entirely possible there will an announcement of a new expansion at the 1 single D3 panel. I don't have high hopes though.
I understand what you are getting at. I'm not sure we'll ever see Diablo take a main stage. Shoot, RoS wasn't even announced at a Blizzcon so I'm not sure why people are looking at the size as a negative.
Also, I saw last years stuff... last year, and it wasn't anything compared to this year. I think they did something way cooler by recreating the Slaughtered Calf Inn. If you remember last year they announced new treasure gobs, a few new monster types, and and... Well, that's about it. I read somewhere that they announced Secheron last year, but I don't remember that at all.
Also, this year aren't we getting 3 "Fireside Chats" or some such thing along with the hour long panel?

D3 was intentionally designed as a console hit-it-and-quit-it style game that just happened to have a PC port and multiplayer options. Just accept it as a 2012 game that nobody plays anymore because it has been consumed already just like most other games.

Sorry you got those two mixed up in terms of order. It's a PC game that so happened to get a Console port randomly for no reason other then "we could"

Better start playing on CN then. Blizzard has stated very clearly (even in the post you even linked as your source!) that microtransactions will not come to EU and NA ever.

They didn't say EVER... they said they do not have immediate plans for it.

Those Who Do Not Know True Pain Cannot Possibly Understand True Peace...
Its still getting patched..yeah...with new sets. Its not even worth downloading for me.
You just do the same boring grifts with another op meta / set / build. The game really offers nothing except farming for exp at this point, the difference is you do it with another set every 3 month or so. The only fun i have in d3 is when an exploit is going on. lol. The weird thing is the game gets more boring after you found your 6p set because now you cant experiment anymore at all. And there is no trading, no pvp, boring itemization and handholding like never seen before in a game. D3 is a prime example of how to not do a game in this genre. You cant even make your own build and be efficient, you either play with set or play T1. 99% of the skills and runes are garbage.
You just described basically every game out there. You say D3 has flaws like never seen before?WoW is more boring, more hand holding, less itemization than D3.You do same raid for 4 or so months (if not longer).
Diablo is my bread and butter and I still very much enjoy it. Some suggested picking up another game and I admit that's not a bad idea for now.
Just s few days ago I started play Path of Exiles and I have to say it's a damn good game. I'm by no means suggesting anyone "give up" on Diablo but when it comes time for a break PoE is worth a look.
Also, to comment on the "micros will NEVER" come to US servers... I call BS. The wouldn't test something like that for no reason. If it makes them money you best believe it's going to be implemented at some point. If not the why even bother is the first place?
Blizzcon is getting more Diablo this year than the least. Plus, remember how RoS wasn't even announced at a Blizzcon? The size (in this case) does not matter. We won't know what's going to happen until it does. It does say "New Content" in the title of the panel. At least that's something new.

This is my point.... you've even said it.. "The game really offers nothing except farming for exp at this point, the difference is you do it with another set every 3 month or so." why are they adding sets???!?!?!?!
1. This game was never about sets.
2.Fix the problem with the damage.. its broken.. 11b damage thats too many numbers.. its stupid.
3. Add runewords.
4.Make more game modes other then Adventure... there is soo much more you can offer then just adventure!
5. Make a expansion! add some toons from D2 maybe add some bosses as well!
6.Make where more then 4 people can be in a game!
7. Quit MAKING DIABLO LIKE WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
8. Make a stat system that actually makes sense, the one they had in D2 was fine!
9. Make a skill system that actually makes sense, this you know every skill and now can build any class is dumb!! refers back to #7
10. and final point dont announce PvP in beta then totally drop it in the end release thats dumb! they cant add the PvP because the damage is broken!

Look at the Blizzcon map Diablo III is confined to a small booth in a back corner of the event. Doesn't look promising...

Give it time, there's going to be ways to mod this game in the upcoming years.
We the community will make our own stuff, as we know what is best for the game.
Some of us at-least..
Diablo is a great game, but its lacking and it is insulting they have some stupid booth.
Still, I think the final expansion will bring great value and hope back.
Lowest money making game will be slowest development.
Their are other great RPG Hack/Slashes coming as well, just pick up another game.
