For D3 was insanely lack luster. Do you think they're going to announce a new expansion in spring?
-Also I do like seeing how they do create legendarys. Kind of neat...Also the new wizard set? Hopefully Arcane orb is actually useable now. :D. That's exciting in my book.
Yes, it was sort of a lackluster, cause most of us probably waited on some more concrete info on what is happening in 2.2 and onward. But at the same time we sort of expected D3 not to get so much focus after we saw the schedule.
What might happen this year: 2.1.2 PTR (maybe release at the end of the year, but this is very optimistic)
Isn't that enough for a year? Get your ridiculous high expectations straight...
Yeah, I mean how dare you expect announcements for a Blizzard game at Blizzcon your exceptions are so ridiculous.
Did I expect a new expansion announcements? No. But I did expect a little bit more than "there's some new items/balance changes" I mean that's barely blue-post worthy news... End of the day, right now Diablo 3 is not Blizzards most profitable franchise so it got the least spotlight at Blizzcon.
I didn't want a new expansion..or anything TOO crazy. I just said it was very lack luster. At least they could've hinted towards a possibility of where they were going to go with the new expansion and/or class?
Like a teaser...It just seemed lame is all. I don't expect a lot but just a little more than what we had would've been nice.
I thought they would've at least introduced another game mode for their "surprise". Like...at the least to keep the juices flowing. I mean a new map/new enemies/some new legs are cool...but it doesn't change the fact that they don't have much end game after you get your gear/farm Grfit.
- last patch had a new zone (cesspool), next patch has a new zone (barbarian area) - there will be a new boss (ratcaller or whatever he's called), last patch had a new boss (Josh Mosqueira, I think he's new cause I recently got a new achievement for fighting him, but he's rare. Probably about lord of bells rare). - they are talking about 3 new sets (not sure next patch, and I would expect 6 sets, 1 for each class, but 3 confirmed). - every season there will be 6 new legendaries, and they seem to rework the old legendaries. - added the hellfire amulet, making ubers useful. - on top op that they keep finetuning everything (rebalance skills a bit, monk sets get a complete rework again, they are changing the zones in Grifts currently to be a bit more random in layout, adding new zones to it, while trying to balance the density and difficulty, ...)
These are not expansions, there are patches. And if you read into how versioning works (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_versioning) the version number they use even stands for "minor bugs are fixed".
So I would like to have more, but in the end we do get a good amount on top of a working product. Many games would charge money for those small additions. While I was hoping for more, I'm happy there was something they could talk about, as there is no expansion coming this year. (and yes, I'm a bit disappointed by blizzcon)

Just don't look into everything PoE is doing for free.
True! I guess I just wanted another reason to want to play diablo more than a month. I mean you farm then do your Grifts to make it to the top of the list. After that it gets old. I just want another mode that can help make diablo competitive. Not PVP but some other mode PVEPVP

Well, I don't have to look into it to know that whatever they are doing for free is not the best thing ever for everyone. If it was, nobody would be on a diablo forum, asking for more things in diablo. They all would be playing PoE. I don't want to start the discussion Diablo vs PoE, that's preference I guess, but as you refer to them I would conclude you think they are better. Then why are you still into D3 news and even on D3 forums? (no disrespect, just pointing out nothing is perfect).

To compare the content of PoE to D3 is completely illogical based upon the different business models the games use. Do you honestly think GGG creates content in PoE for free? They have to constantly create content in order to make money on the game otherwise they likely wouldn't even be able to afford the cost of maintenance of their servers.
I think another issue is also the fact that most other Blizzard games provide more content than D3, however those other games also make considerably more money for Blizzard to use on that development. D3 is the only current game they have that makes zero money after the initial sales purchase.
I actually agree that Diablo 3 information was pretty lack luster at this Blizzcon, but I also wasn't expecting much between a new WoW expansion being released in less than a week, the announcement of an expansion for SC2 and Hearthstone, and information on two new IPs they're creating. That on top of Diablo 3 having considerable development progression this year equates to D3 being the least interesting game at Blizzcon. Honestly, what were you really expecting them to announce?
So because they didn't announce another expansion only 6 months after the last one, it was "lackluster"? Seriously guys? What did you expect? A new act? lol....it's been 6 months. They have a litany of critical issues to address, and they vigorously attacked many of them.
Blizzcon far exceeded my expectations. I expected a brief review of season 1, talk about critical issues and what they wish to do going forward. Maybe a peek at a few new season 2 items. Nothing more. But the entitlement here. My garsh.
Are we really doing this? Expecting a major for-sale expansion every 6 months? C'mon.
I'm disappointed they didn't outright remove trials. A terrible, broken aspect of Grifting that doesn't come close to accomplishing what it's supposed to. I was disappointed that they didn't remove ALL pylons from Grifts. This isn't Super Mario Brothers. Players shouldn't be treated to power-ups in a competitive tier of the game. There's nothing "strategic" about them.
But overall, very surprised they had such a long list of implementations. Some of you are being thick and entitled, very unrealistic about this.

Preach on. People are acting like spoiled brats. Did they really expect another expansion this soon? C'mon. I was quite satisfied with all the things they announced, for free. Only thing i didnt agree with was keeping conduits in.
what i liked was when devs talked about their ideas behind decisions they made. like the drop rate system in vanilla, or why they dont want to remove conduit pylons - instead pushing the other pylons to make all of them worth taking. or why they dont nerf anymore, instead trying to push everything else. for me it was interesting to see the philosophy these guys work with.
its interesting to see that theory and what happens when ideas went live often are not the same, or the result is completely different as it was intended - like mara 6.
for me blizzcon was ok, i didnt expect another expansion or something like this, was hoping for a date when S2 starts, but - lets see. i like the progression the game goes currently, and i think they put a lot of work and effort into it to keep it rolling for all of us.
and for endgame meh meh meh - its not wow, there is no real endgame. cause diablo is and was always a game you can play like you want to play it. if you think you have everything in SC play HC instead, or do some ironman challenges, diablo was always like this - its a hack n slay, not more or less. so the main goal is running around killing stuff and so on and on... if your goal is exploring new content and fancy bosses, looking for real challenges you might want to switch to wow.
It's become quite impossible to take the cynicism and negativity seriously. Offering honest, objective criticism has been replaced and drowned out by an overbearing sentiment of entitlement and snarky, dishonest comments.
The results of the poll so far don't give me any indication if Blizzcon was "lackluster". The results only tell me that 72.5% of the people who voted have unreasonable expectations. This is going to sound wrong, I realize that, but I can no longer take overt negative criticism of Blizzard seriously.
What I'm going to post below is just one of literally hundreds upon hundreds of examples of hypocritical, dishonest cynicism from players at Bnet.
"D3 is a bad game now because it was currently managed by less than passionate people."
This user has 737 Sc paragon and 463 Hc paragon and just played yesterday. This player obviously plays all day, every day. The amount of time played would indicate that this player enjoys the game. Being that he plays so goddamn much, it wouldn't be unreasonable to assert that this player has no time for other games. Heretofore, we can assume that this player feels D3 is the best game out right now.
But he says it's a bad game. How can this be?
I don't mean to shift the focus solely upon this one individual. I mean to display this one example as symptomatic of a greater issue, in regard to honest, forthright criticism of Blizzard and the current state of D3.
I'll push this line of thought forward to the polarizing issue of Ancient items. Many people say they hate the idea. I'm betting they won't hate it when they find one.
I like the small changes and fixes they talked about regarding GR in terms of better map design and vareity. I also like the new items / sets. I'm not sure how i feel about all the new pylons on steroids lol... The Second panel was indeed the worst panel in the history of panels. Next year they will probably have more to announce at the con but generally speaking, D3 is headed in a good path where they are not trying to introduce new shit that will appeal to the masses but just mainly focusing on end game and new content in the form of items, locations, gems, etc, exactly how it should be and not trying to make high GR accessible to everyone like how wow raids are. I am sure that they will have lots of skill balancing in the next patches but this is not something they usually talk about in panels.
But seriously, you guys can't say that the panels were awesome... I mean, 90% of the info we already knew before the panels even started and like 99% of the Q&A was a major facepalm... the amount of butt clenching was ridiculous.
lol seriously... One dude asked how items will get passed from your stash on season to non season, anotehr dude didn't know that witching hour can roll at level 70 MAJOR FACEPALM... There were a few other questions that were just a complete total waste of time i was like JESUS CHRIST...
I know for a fact there is someone who filters the questions... Too bad that person has 0 knowledge about the game itself... I guess they only filter immatue people and trolls...
-Also I do like seeing how they do create legendarys. Kind of neat...Also the new wizard set? Hopefully Arcane orb is actually useable now. :D. That's exciting in my book.
