So guys... while i was one to bitch plenty about the easy button factor of diablo 3 beta... I take it all back. After plenty of coaxing... and almost pleading... i was finally able to convince my wife to try the beta.
To explain to you guys alittle about my wife... she is a non gamer... hell in the past she wouldn't even fucking touch a game. However, tonight she tried a female witchdoctor... and absolutely loved the game. (i think i might have to buy 2 keys now).
She is catching on relatively fast... isn't doing anything TOO complicated... but she has learned how to switch between buttons... how to kite... and how change items.
I showed her how to skill swap and i LOVED her comment about plague of toads and the female witch doctor: "icky... they are coming from her vagina". "Do you want to switch to a different skill?" "No i'll use the vagina frogs"
I`ve been telling my girlfriend a lot about diablo 3 and shown her all the trailers. But she is still sceptical (how u write this word?). Maybe when the game comes out (or i will somehow get a beta key) and she tries it i might have a similar expirience
It wasn't easy to get her to play.... I think i convinced her to ty for me because she knew i was so into this....
My girlfriend, the other day, just came out and said she wanted to play D3 with me. She gave up on learning SC2 almost immediately, isn't into pretty much any of the other games I am, but she tried the beta out, and not only enjoyed it, but was also into the idea of being able to play as female characters that weren't put in games just to flaunt their colossal boobage.
hahahah this made me roflmao well yeah thats blizzard for you. If u ask me i realy dont care much about skill part how it looks and all since we gona look at it for 10 sec to set build runes up and thats it and elective mode helps us to be free with it. But it helps so much to ppl that havent played game that its crazy so many girlfriends got hooked up to wow in a same way. So why would we bother if something we spend so little time ingame is for newer players, we got inferno we should bitch ass if its easy or w/e cos we gona spend 90% of play time there probably. At least my toughts on it.
just pm me if you do matye and i will give you my BNET ID
Nah, I've heard all this before.
People add each other, then you see them online and you send them game invites and they ignore you. Or they're too proud to send YOU a game invite so you always look kind of pathetic always sending them one.
I'll just have to get married I think and get my wife to play D3.
My wife is pretty excited for D3. We picked up the Book of Cain when it was released and she blew through it. She saw about 30 seconds of WoW over Christmas one year while we were dating and she said, "Ah, shit. Now I've got to play too." She always knew if she saw it, she'd want to play it and she was right. =) I'm sure she'll get just as hooked into D3, I look forward to playing Co-Op with her basically all of the time.
What is really nice about the quest system (as opposed to WoW) is that as long as I don't level TOO far ahead (or vice versa), I can always go back and run through that quest with her again instead of someone getting stranded on their own or getting held back by the other. At the Cataclysm release, we tried to level through the content as fast as possible, but random bugs slowed one or the other down and that was kinda a bummer... But now, if she wants to drop out of the game to do whatever, I can just finish up, then we can pick it back up later.
Anyways, in our case, some of our first interaction was because of a common interest in gaming 10-11 years back. Not really the same scenario, but I can relate to the excitement of playing together. =)
Maybe Blizzard's changes to appeal to a wider audience and to more casual players is working. Not saying D3 seems like it'll be too easy a game, but all the changes to the UI and abilities seem much more "watered down" than that from early beta. Not necessarily a bad thing but I do wish they would cut back on the hand holding, especially with this being part of the Diablo series. I'm glad your wife is enjoying herself though, its always good to see skeptics and people who aren't big on games have fun with them too and see why we love them so much.
At least you'll have someone reliable to play with. I have no idea who I'll join games with when D3 comes out.
more than welcome to add me matey when it comes out, ill have plenty of friends on also from my wow guild, realy nice people, you are welcome to play with us
just pm me if you do matye and i will give you my BNET ID
FREDDY BE MAH FRIEND WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
lol in all honesty I've got not a soul to play D3 with. PM prease =D
On topic: Lol glad your GF liked it OP =P It defiantly takes a hands on experience to fully appreciate D3. As you can see, if a non gamer girl can get down the basics, omg D3 = picking up chicks in near future?!?!
Nice to hear. Wifey says she'll play with me but shes a non gamer and hasn't played anything like diablo before. Dunno if I wanna teach her though lol, don't have much patience but guess I'll try.

I understand the community's sentiment on the subject, and I thought I agreed to an extent. However, I've been playing with the calculator a good bit tonight, and I actually really like it. All it really does it coerce you into a balanced build (while giving you the freedom to do whatever you want). I've never really analyzed all of the skills of all of the various classes in depth, but now I could pretty easily throw together a build and understand how it will interact with itself. Before, you had to get very intimate with the skills to make an educated build, thus I've only ever explored Wizard builds in depth since that is the class I intend on playing first.
Granted, you won't be presented with all skills and all runes the second you enter the game, but like I said, it helps you find a balance instead of just a list of abilities with no particular order. Once you start learning what you like, you might decide you want two defensive abilities or an Armor and a familiar instead of just one conjuration ability, which is where you just scroll over and pick something else.
I've been coaxing my fiance into playing some games. It's been difficult as her laptop is next to worthless and definitely could not run Diablo 3. I started her off with Plants vs Zombies. She's fairly adverse to violent games sadly. The Sims had her hooked for a long time.
What you have to be careful of is getting your partner addicted to gaming. It's far less fun being having a gaming addict partner as being the addict yourself.
"Vagina frogs" is hilarious.

My girlfriend is what I'd consider a non-gamer - shes good at guitar hero - nothing else... not even close. I think I'd rather wind up like Prometheus getting my entrails ripped out daily by a giant vulture than watch her play first person shooters.
That being said, she's shown a fairly genuine interest in this game. I think she's intrigued by the RMAH. We're both fairly practical people by default so if we can find a way to pass time while simultaneously offering a RL tangible benefit - hey, why not?
Well I'll be bringing her into the beta in about 3-4 days when she gets home from a family wedding - Here's to hoping it goes well - I'll need an inferno farming buddy! I'm hoping she can catch-on....
If WoW is any indication though then there's a good chance she's going to sit around in Public Chat channels and dance or flirt with the trolls if possible...

The Diablo Franchise isn't something I think that is terribly hard to pick up... one of those games thats pretty easy to be good at, but not so easy to be great at.

Thats awesome your wife has taken to D3 beta. Vagina frogs ftw!
My wife and I used to play WOW together and its always good to just do stuff like that together. If my D3 beta key hunting goes any good ill be giving my wife the option of having a go and (hopefully) she should give it a go. She might like the change from her Bigfish games but wow kinda burnt her out but i live in hope that the OP's points about difficulty and the new player user friendlyness might win her over.
