Why don't you guys just use Ball Lighting for Elemental Arrow. You'll get multiple hit on those but without the 3% Life Steal. Most DH are glass cannon anyways.

It hits the same target multiple times, but it only does ~80% damage per hit. It can still hit a big target 3+ times though.
My problem with this is, my friends wizards and WDs were doing just as much damage as I was with NT... so wheres there nerfs? Why do we have our dmg more than halved when it was on par with others
Then you have shit gear. Our damage isn't halved, learn to play your class. You have tons of other great abilities. I'm still kiting and killing no problem.

Multishot+first rune is far from bad. :| I know Ball Lightning 'might' be better for AoE, but with using Frost Arrow, I cant use Ball, so Multishot it is.
After testing full Ghom to SB runs, one with Frost Arrow, and one with Ball Lightning, BL wins by far. Frost Arrow have problems hitting all elites in champ group, is extremely spiky (you can one shot yourself easily if you time it badly vs reflect) and isn't reliable at all against Invulnerable Minions shielding their master.
On other hoof, Ball Lightning makes clearing rooms nearly twice as fast as Nether Tentacle, the only 'major' drop in dps can be felt on huge elites, like those door breakers or bulls, everything else seem to drop as fast, and much easier. Unlike NT, BL range make it guaranteed to hit targets moving quickly towards you (hi there mr Soul Reaper), and 3 possible hits on big demons make it far superior when dealing with those when compared to IA. And you can still make a sphere of death, or just major pain now, by shooting and stutterstepping forward.
Sure, slow from Ice Arrow is nice, but you can't keep it on Reflect mobs, so unless you have some sick dps (150-200k with SS I would guess) to burst down them in 6 Smoke Screens, you will end up kiting them with Immobilize traps.

with frost arrow u dont really need frost arrow, in worst case use Twin Chakrams = more damage for 1/2 cost.
I assume you meant "with frost arrow you dont really need multishot" and even then, Twin Chakrams does 100% weapon damage each. So thats 200% if both hit the target. Multishot does 165% guaranteed to all targets. Sure, its double the cost, but its way more effective for mass AoE than chakrams.
was totally expecting this, every child and their mother uses NT, just fair they nerfed it a bit to be more on-par with the other abilities, the other classes have some skills more people uses but not nearly as much as how NT is used...
lol at the qq'ers using an ability that hits WAY too hard, and have like 3.3 attack/sec and STILL thought that those wouldn't be nerfed...

Oh, I dont think its not good, I just think that its now not heads and tails better than everything else, so it opens up some diversity with what you can use.
Thinking maybe frost arrow and change from SS to the 15% damage on snared mobs passive. Frost Arrows travel way to fast to benefit from SS working on all arrows mid air, and snares targets. Hmmm, while I dislike losing DPS, I kinda like others builds being more viable now
This isn't intended as a qq, I am genuinely curious as to why some people are saying NT is still great. I get that it still pierces and it still does fantastic AOE damage, but with it only hitting each target once for 155% weapon damage, wouldn't ball lightning be a far better choice considering that it hits for 155% weapon damage as well, and has a significantly larger hit radius? Or is it because ball lightning's 155% is split into 2 hits and some mobs can move away from the 2nd hit, which halves ball lightning's DPS?
I do not know about you guys but the NT strengh is not only the fact hat it could hit one target several times.
To clean an elite pack with a distance affix (mortar, tp, vortex) which are in my opinion the only difficult affixes as long as you use gloom for reflect, i usually set up few caltrops in a line back off and spam NT before they even get on my screen and do it again so they can't use they distance affix. They die easily without casting anything so you are safe every moment.
For sure now it is going to take longer at least on big hit box opponnent but in my opinion the major strengh of NT is that is is so slow that you can hit people out of your screen without being hit by distance affixes.
I am playing with a 400ms latency which does not help for sure so I cannot afford them to cast their distance spells.
So maybe the slow chakram can now replace NT, I will give it a shot.
Use whatever ability suits your playstyle and preferences rather than be railroaded into using a single imbalanced ability that does more damage single AND multi target than any other?
I totally disagree with this nerf. If the reason was for fear of a 'cookie cutter' ability where you HAD to take it, just buff other skills to be at the same level. Because personally, I dont think this ability was really that overpowered. Sure, it hit for 155% weapon damage twice, but it was also a slow moving ball on a singular path. On that note, the only time it hit twice is if the target was stationary or running away. If said target was running towards you, the ball only hit once. Try hitting a 'fast' target with elemental arrow, it aint that easy. This ability really made the demon hunter, and now its been nerfed.... whatever.

Has anyone played with Grenades/Rocket Launcher with Ballistics/Grenadier? Just throwing out ideas
IMO the problem there isn't so much the damage but how horrifically clumsy those abilities are. Even if they did 20% more damage than any other ability I doubt most people could really get that much out of them.

Blizzard should change the spell title for something else, because Tentacule means a lot of "arms" that can hit 1+ target imo
