Hey guys, just a few quick questions regarding CDR for Crusaders.
1. How much CDR is optimal? I play HC so rolling CDR on my gear will often affect my defensive stats. I was thinking of rolling CDR on my gloves, shoulders, shield with a Diamond in my helm. I can also put paragon pts into CDR.
Would this give me enough CDR for close to permanent Akarats Champion?
2. What are your opinions on running with 5pc Akkhans with RoRG vs running with 3 pc Asheara bonus and4 pc Blackthorne bonus? Keep in mind this is for hardcore.
It lasts 20 seconds. So with 0 CDR there is 25 seconds of downtime.
25/45 = 55.55%. So if you can get Akhans and 56% CDR you have 100% uptime.
If you desperately want perma-Akarats you can go Captain Crimson belt + boots/legs and 5 piece Akhans' with RoRG. Coupled with wielding a 1Her and CDR on your gear this is probably achievable.
However its probably a lot stronger to go Aughilds bracers + Helm/chest/shoulder with 5 piece Akhan's as Chiemerine suggested; leaving your belt slot free for Harringtons. The few seconds of downtime leave you very vulnerable (if running Prophet for defense) but as long as you can kill everything in that time; or at least get to the edge of the combat; you're free to dance away for the short period of downtime.
Thats my Crusader. Running full 6 pieces of Akkhan. Im currently at 54.64%, which is 2% (on gear) shy of 100% up time. As my gear is now, I have 97.99% up time.

Edit: fwiw, I'm running t5 rifts pretty much blindly. I tend to just run around spamming my buttons, not really caring what I stand in and everything dies in a very timely manner. Yes, I am running Unity and on my follower with the cannot die relic, so that does help a LOT.
I'll be sitting at around 14mil toughness without it up and I'll be running with prophet. I was thinking I can get 8% from shoulder, 8% from gloves, 8% from shield and 12.5% from helm for 36.5%. Should I put my paragon points into CDR also to make it higher? If I run with 36.5% what sort of downtime would that be on Akarats? I'm quite happy to have 5s downtime as I still have near 15mil toughness without it up.
What do you guys think? Let me know if I'm missing anything
You cant just add the CDR percentages up, it does not work additively (since this way what happens if you get over 100%?) but rather CD-time * (100% - percentage of CDR-item 1) * (…. ) and so on (at least I am pretty sure it works that way.
Therefore, for 36.5% effective CDR you will need more than 36.5 percent additive CDR from gear. Check the site posted above to determine how much you will need exactly, it is a very helpful site.
yup that's how it works, some noticeable diminishing returns the more CDR you get.

Look forward to your responses.
Grab shoulders/chest/helm andbracers from Aughild and 5p Akkhan with a RoRG and you'll be better off, even in HC.
