I have been working on a shield bash-pound crusader for the last few days and was wondering how viable they are on RGs at high GRs. My friend and a buddy of his have been running 4 player GRs with the standard 2 monk 2 barbs group and I was interested to see if it's at all possible to replace the HoTA barb with a single dps pound crusader who would fill the similar role of RG killer/ EP Proccer. Has anyone else tried this? And if so how much success did you have? Any responses would be greatly appreciated thank you.
doubt a shield bash can come close to the damage and effective of a hota barb but with decent gear it should work, but problem is toughness and survivability for crusaders i find it hard playing them compared to monks and barbs which can stack high toughness where crusader cant

I partially agree with you. shield bash was better than the HOTA barb before the cube. and with the cube its still better in terms of damage. However, in terms of survival I fear of getting 1 shot even in T10. Basically for saders to even compete with the barb Blizzard needs to revises akhan set to mirror IK set. Make the CDR on defensive skills faster.
And the hammerdin set didn't even appeal to me. IMO the set should be like this (2) CDR on steep charge by 1 second. You can now cast blessed Hammer while in Steep charge animation (4) while casting Blessed Hammer gain 50% damage reduction (6) Blessed hammer gains 750% dmg increase. With something like this, Crusader will finally have a speed clear build as well as be able to compete with the Waste Barb.

I was thinking more of for group play. Would survivability still be that much of an issue with a healer monk and support barb with permanent ignore pain?
Both rune Pound and crumble looks interesting when it comes to trigger cold ep's.
Nope, pound is better. But you need skill or 3rd party help.
Crumble is AOE so it will take down all mobs kinda at the same rate.
For EP, you make a pull, then find the lowest HP mob, target it and get the pop on everything else. So Pound which has higher single target, if used properly, will pop palms a lot faster than Crumbled. Most players just go in the pile and hit whatever... instead of hitting a good target.
Rob is probably using overlays like D3helper / TurboHUD to pick out the weakest mob and target it directly.

"Do you guys not have phones?"
I've seen Rob which is in Invis group in EU non-season cleared a 77 with physical shield bash ( pound) last week. But he's the only crusader lol.
If you can't find him hes rank 1 4player with his WD

THEY HATE US, CUZ THEY AIN'T US
do you mind sharing his profile/info somehow? not sure how to look up stuff easily on leader boards or I'd look myself, sorry
edit: nm googled
he's not running any bash specs or anything that I can see, but I'll take your word for it, heh.
