I thought it would be fun to brainstorm and share ideas of rune effects for various skills. I will start the Barbarian off with Leap Attack:
The Barbarian makes a mighty leap, causing a percentage weapon damage to all nearby enemies upon landing.

- Instead of jumping yourself, throw an enemy. It also does damage upon landing.
Very nice idea. I've a uncreative one:
* When you land, you get a huge defence and resistances boost. This way you can go in the middle of freaking big mob of enemeies with lower chance of being pulverised.
hmm is it considered his movement spell? like wiz's tele etc.? if so i dont see the throwing a body instead really working, although it is a pretty snazzy idea
but i really dont see too many ways to make this skill vary, aside from adding damage or changing the damage type or stunning... :/ maybe he can jump into a puddle and the monsters take a moment to wipe their eyes

I think so... but still, runes are supposed to change the skill. In my opinion, at least 1 rune per skill should give a rather radical change. Besides, imagine spamming that on a bunch of fallen... pure win
What if instead of leaping over the monsters, he leaps through them as an attack? He could even have an element attached to it, kind of like M. Bison's lightening screw attack. It would be a little like Whirlwind I suppose, but they could keep it different enough by not allowing it to be continuous like whirlwind.
What about a double jump. That way you get two impacts but the final would still be where you clicked.
How would that work when jumping over an obstacle, like say a river?
I think I remember Bashiok saying something about Leap Attack runes, with an idea for doing short hops instead of big leaps, but I can't remember if he replied to someone who had that idea, had that idea himself, said that's how one of the runes will work, or if the dev team used to have that idea but dropped it.. Can't find the quote anymore :/
my thoughts exactly about need to jump an obstacle.
but also, i got a crazy idea, what if rather then jumping he dug underground and popped up at his destination spewing rocks all over the place?
“We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about.” - Albert Einstein
Juggernaut Leap
.. would just mean that the barbarian leap into a mob and then "bonuces" a smaller leap in the right direction, causing two leap attacks.
OR
Jumping into the mob and then just.. Piledrive all down by running down them and end it up with a furious scream, stuneffect.
Greater leap - the barbarian takes a run up causing a longer build up time. He then leaps high into the air and when he lands, he creates huge AOE damage and an X% change to instant kill a monster he lands on (normal monsters. Boss's etc. is affected with crit damge)
Something Leap - 2+ (depends on rune rank) enemies will be drawn towards the barbarian as he leaps. Almost like the barbarian grabs them. The barbarian will then leap into the air with the enemies he is holding and then lands on them. This creates instand death (Boss etc will have crit dmage?). If there are no enemies around, the leap will act like a normal leap.
seeing how strategy is supposed to be more important a taunt one would be cool, when you land all monsters within a x radius focus attacks on you, would be good to save a friends life. The radius could increase with rune levels. Doubt it'll happen but it'd be kinda cool.
When the barbarian lands all enemies flee in terror for a short time.

"to the worm in horseradish, the world is horseradish."
This rune would be very valuable to me lol.
How about instead of landing on his feel he does a belly flop and casts mass confusion, but takes a few seconds to recover.

Also - instead of jumping he leaps forward superman style - causing damage/stun to anyone in his path.
Really? cause that was my idea as I was reading down >.>
