Ok So I started Ladder As a Blizz/Nova Sorc with no more resets:(
Ive got like 122 str, 30 dex,190 vit, 130 energy.
20 Blizz
1 Cold
1 shiver
1 static
15 teleki
1 ES
20 Nova
20 Lite Mastry
1 Warmth
Blizz 800
Nova 800
My only good thing is like insight and a 2+ skill staff and like +40 fcr
Every other sorc I see can kill like hell meph and andy no problem doing less damage then me but my guy dies in like 5 seconds any tips? Im doing Nm runs to find better stuff but im not finding ANYTHING! +My Char dies a lot
90 is not much. You need 300+ to be really effective. And even with this MF alot of runs will only get you blue and yellow junk.
About you survability, i can think of 2 problems. First your vitality is actually low (you should have 250+ vit by this level). All this points dumped in energy and that super high str are a waste and in Hell every single HP point counts.
The second problem I see is that you must have very low resistance gear. Try to get some. A good option to low bugdet and early ladder character is focus on using low rune words and gemmed shields, wich are very easy to get and helps you alot.
Also, don't be afraid of be specific - don't chase +all resist gear all the time. If you want to kill Hell Andy, focus on poison resist (and maybe lightning for the deformed). That unique breastplate + emerald + poison resist rings should do the trick.
MEph is a easy boss imo because most of his attacks are easilly avoided by manual play, but you still need some resist physical/poison to sucefully hit static field on him.
I'd ditch the energy shield. Use the points you save from not using es/telek to up your blizzard damage. With an insight merc you won't have to worry about mana so all the points you put in energy just dump into vit. Personally, I never really liked es unless I had totally awesome gear/charms to go along with it, and found extra damage was more of an asset in pvm then a weak es.
Don't really know why you have that amount of strength either. Should just shoot for 156 and use a spirit shield. You could also make due with much less then 122 str and use a lidless wall for a shield if you want to go that route.

What he said. You can't half ass Energy Shield. Either you commit to it and build your character around it or ignore it.
Also not sure what your resistance are, but if you are trying to tangle with Meph on hell you better have good res.
if its just for mf you dont need Nova. i used a hardcore defensive mf build.
what i remember i had max frozen orb, a point for each shield to get to the best one (had around 8-10 points there), around 15 in frost mastery, 14 in Warmth, about 10 in Static Field and 12-15 each for Telekinesis and Energy Shield. i never died and only felt "a little" threatened by mana burn monsters.
she wasnt as gear dependent either, i remember doing my first Andariel/Mephisto runs with 4 perf topaz socketed armor, the unique skull cap with +1 skills and mf (!) and random stuff. can do Mephisto Nightmare till you get an Oculus + Lidless too, makes things even easier.
felt i had enough when i was just under 400 mf but around 300 is pretty good.
But in all seriousness, why not just be an orb sorc?

your skills are badly put too. since you didnt synergise blizzard or nova its gonna be weak. id either go one class or do something like meteor/orb or blizz/fb for dual element.

Ight So I Just read your inputs and a lot made sense
but I posted this awhile ago now my char is as Follows
Stats:
165 Str
37 Dex
222 Vit
145 Eng
Gear:
+2 Cold Skills/+14% resistances circlet
Eye of Etlich ammy
Tal's Orb
Vipermagi
Spirit monarch
Magefist
Sigon belt(Looking for arach)
Manald heal rings x2
War travelers
Merc:
Tals Mask
Insight
Arkaine's Valor
Skills:
15 Ice Blast
26 Blizz
8 Cold Mastery
24 nova
25 Light Mastery
17 Telekinisis
(5 in the rest of the lightning tree except tunderstorm)
(7 in the rest of cold except orb and the last armor)
5 warmth
theres no need for telekinesis; pvm es is bad, if pvp then dual element is worse, if you really want to go es then its impossible to go dual element otherwise you are just too weak. too much energy which is a huge waste.
just a benchmark, a decent pvm blizz can hit 11k.
edit: after some tinkering in our skill calc, it can actually make a pretty decent dual element if done right. but this requires pretty much perfect gear, soo...anyways, check it out, i might have gotten some parts wrong so double check. its decent though, 7k blizz and 2k nova.

Well, you've definitely got room for improvement. Like other people have said, your biggest problem is most likely that your build just kind of isn't any good. Some pointers:
Lightning builds are really only viable as single-element builds, since they need a lot of synergy pumping to do the amount of damage they're capable of. However, even pure lightning builds don't use Nova. It's just not a good skill. It costs a lot of mana and does laughable damage since it doesn't have any synergies. Drop Nova completely.
Telekinesis doesn't really do anything unless you're making a Mana Shield build, which you're not. You should only have 1 point here as a prereq for Teleport.
As has been mentioned, your build seems a little hodgepodgey, but it seems like you're trying to make a Blizz sorc. You can check out the Blizzard Sorceress guide on our wiki for a little more info, though it's not the most complete guide. Only 1 point in Warmth. +Skills will get it up to high enough levels that it will do fine for you. Considering you're using Insight, you could actually do without Warmth altogether. For your cold skills, you should max Blizz first, then Cold Mastery, and then Blizz's synergies.
As far as your gear goes: since Blizzard has a 1.8 second cast delay, you really don't need any FCR for it, though it can be helpful for your other skills. At 100 FCR, you're 5 shy of the next breakpoint, so you essentially have 37 wasted FCR right now. I'd definitely recommend dropping the Magefists, as you're not really using fire skills anyway. I'd try to find an orb that has +2 Sorc Skills or +3 Cold Skills to replace your Tal's Orb. Your belt needs replaced, but you already know that. The rest of your gear is pretty decent for starters.
Last but not least, your stats. You should only have your strength high enough to equip your shield. Anything else is wasted, and it looks like you have a few extra points there. Don't put anything in dexterity. All it does for you is increase your chance to block (since you have no use for attack rating), and unless you're putting enough points there to get max block (75%) - which I wouldn't recommend - you're wasting points again there. Energy...you shouldn't ever put any points here. Ever. Especially if your merc has Insight. Drop all the extra points from str, dex, and energy into your vitality and you'll see a huge boost to your life.
Ok So I read everyones and Ive decided to respec
but should I be a meteorb or pure blizzard
and if so what should I run?
Meteorb seems like a good Pvm so im kinda leaning towards that.
Seems like there would be a lot of fire immunes and orb doesn't do that much dmg.
but blizzard takes so long to cast and cold immunes are EVERYWHERE in hell.
Basicly what one is better for a starter with my crappy equipment to do some hell runs easy.
well in theres two paths, either go meteororb or blizzball and mf different areas until you get rich, or go pure blizz and mf a couple of places to get rich. once you can get an infinity you respec into pure lightning and you can go devastate anywhere and mf.
but if you are just going for pvm fun, id choose one of the hybrid builds.

Actually, the listed damage is for each little ice bolt that the orb sends flying, so it actually can do quite a bit of damage. Plus, don't forget that Cold Mastery won't show it's damage increase on the spell, like LM/FM do. MeteOrb is kind of the cookie cutter MF build for the most part, since it's effective with less-than-ideal gear.
but if you are just going for pvm fun, id choose one of the hybrid builds.
Totally. I've been rocking a Fire Wall/Glacial Spike sorc lately, and she's pretty fun. Though I have an Infinity, so that makes hell much easier. I don't think I'd recommend it without Infinity.
Ok so I respeced to a BlizBall and so far its good! I can run andy and meph (With a lot of deaths and cash money loss)
I think im gonna try to lvl up to 90 so I can put 6 more points into fire and cold mastery. Try to find a vex rune so I can make my hoto and from there get Um and Ber for Coh then CtA and infinity. Some rings would be nice. I just need more resist to do hell so im thinking about doing more Nm runs until I find some nice rings. Kinda wish I went blizz Sorc tho. Meph and Andy would be easier... By alot
