I'm thinking about making an Avenger Pally. I would like to know what weapon would be good to use that helps with mana issues and hopefully covers the poison spectrum as well. Reason why I ask this is because I plan on using Vengeance with Conviction Aura. Killing speed isn't a factor for me as I like to take things slow.

When I was thinking about making a Vindicator, I was looking at using a Phoenix shield. The -fire resist will improve your damage (not to mention the 350-400% enhanced damage) and the Redemption aura should keep your mana at a decent level. Though, this is of course untested speculation on my part. Though none of that really answers your question about a weapon unless you use Phoenix as a weapon instead/as well.

a vindicator is a smiter, so ED wont help your dmg.
What Vengeance does: It takes a damage you will see on your weapon + damage fro +min/+max damage from other equipment (chamrs, War Travelers, jewels)
Then this damage is enhenced by percentage you see on your vengeance skill. You will do that much cold, lightning and fire damage (all at once). In addition, you will also do a physical damage equal to weapon damage enhanced by STR bonus, off-weapon damage, skill damage from auras.
Example: your weapon reads 100-140 damage, and you have one +10 max charm. You use vengeance which reads for example +150% lightning damage, +150% fire damage, +200% cold damage (some synergy from resist cold)
Your STR is 100 and you use might merc (+180%ED from aura) and Lionheart (+20%ED)
you will do:
250-375 lightning damage
250-375 fire damage
300-450 cold damage
100-150 * (1+1(from STR bonus)+1.8(from might aura)+0.2(from Lionheart)) = 400-600 physical damage
Now if you use Fanaticism, you will get:
big physical damage boost (let's say 400ED) - your physical damage will be 100-150 * (1+1(from STR bonus)+1.8(from might aura)+0.2(from Lionheart)+4) = 800-1200 physical damage, but elemental damage will remain the same.
big attack speed bonus (you will gain probably 1 or 2 frames in your attack animation)
big AR boost.
With conviction, you will get boosted your effective elemental damage (damage is the same, but lowering monster resists give you effectively 2x-3x better elemental damage)
reduced Defence ~ -95% enemy defence -> no need for AR
For a good avenger you need to synergize Vengeance heavily and get a weapon with good damage and speed, and up the damage by using +max damage charms and equipment....
that being said, a great weapon for this build needs a lot of ias and damage. eBotdz covers everything important so id say that would be option #1, unless u find a godly fools/eth/rep/ias zerker with 2os.
also, for a more fun pvm build there's the runeword rift that has a ctc nado and FO, plus magic and fire dmg, make it in a nice 4os caddy with +veng/conv and it could be really devastating.
edit: botd also covers life and mana leech, as well as psn damage with the ctc psn nova. best wep

idk, you said when you were thinking about making a vindicator you imagined phoenix to be a good wep, but a vindicator is term for a smiter. maybe you just wrote down the wrong name, i think they are pretty lame too.

I've only heard Vindicator used as a term for a Vengeance/Conviction pally. Which makes sense. I've never heard Smiters referred to as anything but Smiter.
Thank you for all that information Carambolage. A little note though, I only like the Rogue Mercenary, and thought about using "Faith" Runeword with her. Also, killing speed isn't an issue for me, so I don't care for how much or how little IAS I have.

ias is equivalent to survival though, since veng is mana expensive you need to hit faster than mobs hit you, and in hell where resists are everything it could make or break a character. and faith merc is probably the best to go with, but if you cant get faith go with a2 hf merc.
a vindicator is definitely a smiter. and vindicator/templars are smite/foh. i have a vt.

ohm jah and lem are quite rare, as is the botd runes. if this is on bnet it can much easier through some trading though.
best wep for a merc faith is the great bow, since it has the best speed and average damage combo. if u want simply the best average damage id use diamond bow.
hydra and crusader are both too slow and require some pretty intense stats that might need an 80+ merc.
if you are making a welfare avenger theres many options that dont require high runes, baranars star looks like an excellent weapon and is really common, stormlash, lightsabre and the harmony runeword for your merc.

harmony for your merc, yes, the vigor aura is helpful and the runes are relatively cheap or easy to find.
fetid is one of my fav weps because of the name, but unfortunately it doesnt offer very good stats, and upping it and socketing it is a waste, so try and find an alternative, something with ias, elemental dmg and enhanced damage.

If I would build a Vengeance Pally. I would just get conviction when equipped. I would go and boost the physical damage as much as possible. As far as I know the damage is converted to elemental damage at the end. If you need mana there is always Mediation and Redemption auras.

Ohm + Jah + Lem + Eld (I know Eld is easy.)
What longbow should it be made in for the Rogue merc?
Hydra Bow or Crusader Bow??

What about The Fetid Sprinkler upgraded with cube and a socket added to it?

Well...whatever. The Paladin build I was intending to reference was the one that the thread was started about. :whistling:
