I want to know if you would like to see Diablo 1 remade with better graphics and some modification to curtain things in the game but keep the three original classes (maybe add one or two)? I know that most of you people thinks that stupid but Think about it and please reply. By the way i don't care if they don't this is just a thought. (maybe release a remake of D1 on their 20th anniversery)

They did the same thing with Counter-Strike, twice. It was still awesome, so why not do it with Diablo? Probably because there's already a sequel with another coming soon. If there was a Counter-Strike 2, Valve wouldn't make Counter-Strike: Source.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
Well, it would definitely be interesting to see all of the color wars again. Things not being dark enough, a new class not being what was expected, etc. I'd play it, for sure.
It's not an upgrade in the sense to which you're referring, but there is a mod[ification] for Diablo II:LoD, called Back to Hellfire, that attempts to cast Diablo in a new (but familiar) light by mixing elements of Diablo, Hellfire, and Diablo II, as well as being done in the graphic-style of Diablo II.
I've played the mod; not extensively, as yet, but enough to get a decent feel for the beginning of the game, at least, and I've enjoyed it.
It achieves "The Diablo Feel," in my opinion, and there are creative touches that make it interesting, and a little new.
The "familiar" quests are somewhat similar to what you already know. For example, you still rescue Cain from his gibbet, but he's held captive below the Cathedral, by the Butcher (and if you thought he was a bad-ass in the original....), but there are different quests, too (not sure what they're like -- I haven't gotten far enough into it yet. I can't get past the Butcher -- haha), and skills are acquired only through tomes you find in the dungeons.
As I alluded to with the Butcher, the mod's difficulty is somewhat higher than the games from which it draws, but it's definitely fun (at least, in my opinion).
The timing is kinda funny with my post, because when I went to the site to grab a link, I saw on the "News" page that they released a patch to the mod just yesterday (v1.02), which apparently fixes several bugs in the previous versions. And the creator is promising an additional side-quest with the next patch.
I haven't downloaded the 1.02 patch, yet, since I just found out about it a few seconds ago, but regardless, I would recommend BtH to anyone who is looking for a spiced-up version of Diablo.

If I ever get around to installing Diablo on this machine, I'm definitely going to have to try out that mod. I've seen some videos of it on YouTube and I liked what I saw, so yeah.
As for the original topic, I wouldn't mind seeing a remake of the original Diablo. I'd love to see an updated Butcher's lair or the Chamber of Bone; hell, imagine going through the Halls of the Blind with today's graphics.
I've been playing some other game remakes (like Final Fantasy IV on the DS), and even with just a graphics update the game seems very fresh; like the first time I ever played it.
I thought D1's graphics were exactly as they should be, D1 was fricken scary the first time I started playing, I would like a new story line and new weapons, and more difficult lvl ups for a new D1.
My thought on a new D1 game is...
1. making it 3D like D3 but keep the dark look to it (If its possible).
2. Have the same classes, maybe add one new one just to make it slightly different.
3. Keep the same skills system as the original D1 (no class specific skills except just one, Examples: Warrior - Repair, Rogue - Future sight, Sorcerer - Recharge) maybe some new ones also.
4. Keep all the old quests but add some new quests. (i can't remember if the drunk, can't remember name i think it Farmham, and the woman north of the tavern/inn gave out a quest but i would like to see them have more involvement in the game)
5. More items, inbeddable items (which means adding Jewel, gems, and/or ruins to the game)
6. Put in a stash chest
In short i love D1 and since D2 and now D3 are or soon out D1 is almost forgotten and i think if Blizzard could release an updated version of D1 (as an anniversery edition of when Diablo was introduced to the world) it will be a way for Blizzard to say thanks for all the fans of the Diablo series.

In my opinion, there's just not enough content to make a re-make. They would have to add so much it would feel like an entirely new game. There's so much stuff they'd have to fix, add, take out..and the simple fact that it was so linear (down, down, down, down, down) that the lack of places to explore would just not be enough to build upon. (without leaving the town completely, which just wouldn't fit into the storyline)
Now, while we're on the subject, something that might make a little more sense is a prequel. Why did the dark wanderer, aka the character you beat D1 with, even come to Tristram? What made him think he could beat the evil? What made him think he could contain it within himself?
Or perhaps some side stories could be involved. For instance, surely Adria and Grizwold put up a decent fight against the invaders once the hero/dark wanderer left, right? So let's play through it as them!
But honestly, i dob't think this would work much better than a Tetris remake. I mean, where else can you really go with this concept? Improve the graphics, sure, obviously, but what else? It would require so much re-working (skills, stats, everything else) that it would practically need a whole new system, and if they're gonna do that, why not just save it for a Diablo 4?
