So, I've been gearing up a DH lately, and before that, my wizard. Something I've come to realise, rolling for all the sweet, sweet high end affixes - my veiled+essence, heck, even my reusable part-stock is getting awfully low... And it takes forever to farm it back.
With no requirement on rolling legendary items anymore (mats) to throttle how many you can make, I find that I suddenly have a shitton fewer mats than before - want a phys dmg, crit, dex vit reaper's wrap for my DH? I just craft 10, and down 1.2K blue dust which might take me half a day to regain, as malthael no longer stands between me and my sweet, sweet bracers.
Same goes for my wiz, on which I have crafted close to 200 aughild helms trying to get one with high int/vit/6% crit and socket (stuck on 640 int/vit, 6% crit and socket. It's basicly one of my two biggest upgrades left that won't be just pure RNG). Each craft is 90 veileds.
Get a new pair of legs? Sorry, that's 40 veileds per reroll. That's how many I usually get from clearing a full set of act 1 bounties - AKA not a few.
I know it's a design decision that some parts costs extreme amounts of one thing and less of others, but it has me really, really starved for materials whatever I decide to do. I'm in a situation where I've got 500 forgotten souls laying around, and the same amount of veileds / blues, because with the legendary buff drop rate in T6, you actually aquire the souls faster than the other mats comparably.
So, while somewhat of a rant, I guess the discussion basicly is -
Does anyone else feel extremely starved for mats?
If not, what do you do to keep a good stock around?
If yes, do you think something should be done (EG: Making all items cost a "normal" amount of mats, so no one item will completly obliterate the stock of one specific)?
Personally, I've got more than 4K deaths breath laying around in my bank doing nothing - I'd love to see them implement a DB:Material vendor (maybe 10 veileds for 1 DB, 25 essence for 1 DB, and 10 DB for 1 soul?). They are literally as close to useless as you can get for something that's supposed to be a constant reagent for all types of endgame gear crafting/reforges/etc - they were a nuisance the first week of the game, then became obsolete.
very low on mats myself but i guess that's the point. So that ppl dont just look for legs in rift but go 'wow look a rare!' or 'if you find any blue items you dont need, pls drop them for me'.
Seriously though i think it's just. So that we cant perfect rolled everything we want instantly.
I've said it before... what we see is a result of not picking up stuff for many many many rifts. I've collected one inventory full of stuff to salvage in every of my ~1600 rifts, and it allowed me to craft ~250 Aughild's chests and shoulders yesterday. Note that you'll only run out of Arcane Dust if you craft hundreds of bracers, and you run out of Veiled Crystals if you craft lots of gloves, but overall the materials are balanced across all slots (I'm actually lacking Reusable Parts right now).
If you just pick up all stuff in every rift until your inventory is full you will not be "starved for mats". But of course it will make your run "less efficient" because it adds a few seconds. Guess what... if you want to craft hundreds of legendary items, all of them potential end-game BiS items, you don't get them for free.
The game is balanced, it's just that content is neglected which leads to this imbalance. Gold, crafting materials, Forgotten souls - my resources are all about the same, there's not a particular crazy bottle neck right now (I'm lacking Reusable Parts, but not to a crazy extent; all my mats are quite low right now). That being said, I've never skipped content or done any stuff like "Cursed Chest farming" or finishing a rift without at least filling up one inventory.
Pickup blues and salvage them, it all goes back to bagstone's reply - stop skipping drops and fill that inventory up each run, personally ill portal out 4 times in a run - i dont care if its not 'optimal' atm, if i need mats and Ill 'waste' a minute or so in each bounty to get them
English is fine. Don't apologize. All I have is english.
My bottle neck is and continues to be souls. BUT I'm playing more at the T1-T2 level. I can do T3-T4 with my DH for cash runs, and I guess I'm going to have to increase these, but the lower levels that need the drops aren't able and unless you JUSt do Kadala for upgrades, you have to play them for drop chances.
If I run solo, I grab everything, if I run group, I fill one inventory and the rest stays on the ground. Occasionally I have to swap alesser to pick up a Leg,I'll get over it.
There lots of drops of rares and blues, amount of mats with this isnt a problem. All i want is a button "salvage" in inventory so we dont go to town every 5 minutes. GIEV teh Button!!

I've been crafting Aughild's bracers for the past week, had something on the order of 5k arcane dust, now I have none. Still.. that's what happens when you are trying to roll perfect 5 affixes (roll sixth with enchanting). In my case I'm looking for physical %, high int, high vit, 6% crit, - melee and - ranged.
It does give me a reason to keep playing though... a carrot at the end of the stick to strive for.
I funnily enough, am in a similar, but opposite boat. Prior to this patch I was always starved for veiled crystals, but I had plenty of forgotten souls. Now that it costs me 2x souls to craft an item, I am finding myself running out of souls quite often. I currently have about 15, but I will drop to zero the moment I find a new piece I want rolled. This seems to be getting worse as I am trying out new characters. I like it though, it makes rifts feel more productive when there are a few things I need rather than just 1 legendary item I am looking for.
People need to rethink just how many materials they are spending onrerolling, and whether or not its cheaper/more viable to simply find another "whatever" closer to what they want. Obviously IF it's an endgame piece and all but one stat IS perfect AND you KNOW you're never going t replace it, then MAYBE it's worth going ALL in, I guess.
But also realize sometimes that last three points on CHD ISN'T that important, 97% is pretty good.
I guess the ugly word in the room is BUDGET. I will walk up to the enchanter, look at the piece, yeah it's better than what I have, but it's NOT the FINAL piece." I'm gona roll for it 5 times". If it doesn't happen, I walk away. At the very least, I put it away and try again later, and SOMETIMES I get better before I get to reroll later anyway.
People, be responsible with your imaginary pixel type currency/materials...:P
That is all.
Oh and jeez, pick up your stuff, no one's gonna do it for you.
"IF" You have plenty of fragments, I have found doing normal rifts to be a great source of mats. Depending on length and mob density I end up with 4-6 bags of items for salvaging for about 10 mins of time investment.

Why on earth should you be able to craft loads of legendaries without having to do some farming?
I completely, totally, and absolutely agree with you.
Crafting is supposed to fill the "I found a bunch of stuff that I didn't want, so I will craft a handful of new items" niche. We could probably go back and forth as to whether the arcane dust cost on bracers should be lowered to 100, but that's semantics really. The general point is that there is no real issue with requiring 2 legendary salvages, numerous white/yellow/blue salvages, and a handful of death's breaths to craft a single item.
We're not supposed to be crafting dozens and dozens of items per day.
Out of curiosity, do people think that I'm really so stupid as to not pick stuff up and salvage it when I go and do bounties and rifts :<? I'm hurt. Of course I do. I just find the rate at which you find stuff pretty damn atrocious. Doing a full set of bounties nets me about 1.2 inventories worth of stuff (or about 40 veileds, 30 blues). They take 10-15 minutes to complete depending on character and if I do them on a faceroll torment or T6. That means that for an entire evening gaming session, I'll go away with maybe 600-700 veileds and 500 essence. Those are spent in about 10 rolls. That's 4 hours of gathering stuff. Sure, it's "chasing the dragon" to try and get the perfect rolls. It just seems like, when compared to souls and deaths breath, there's not nearly enough low level crafting mats going around.

Now that we are free from legendary mats, the regular mats are just too much.
Seriously though i think it's just. So that we cant perfect rolled everything we want instantly.
last night I crafted 4 reapers wraps then I realised I'm out of arcane dusts
Arcane dust is the main crafting limitation now.. So yes... You're going to be limited in your crafting by arcane dust

You want yellow, Kill ghom.
You want blue, Open chests.
Play rifts (and pick up stuff). Give it a try, works like a charm!
