the reason i complain..... There are 5 other classes I wish to explore, and after this long grind to paragon 450, I want to put the game down
Holy fuck me in the ass. No shit.
See what I mean people?
We've always known that the people who grind harder and faster burn out first and then come to tell us that the game is bad because they spent 100 hours per week on it for four weeks and didn't do anything else at all during that time period.
My issue is not the drop rates, at all. My issue is that every set item I've found (excluding the COMMON ones) has had rolls that make them unusable. IE: they're inferior to legendaries I've found because I've found so many more legendaries that the chance to get a good roll in that slot is much better.
If something is going to be rare there HAS to be some general safeguard that it's not going to roll into something outright useless. I shouldn't need to find four or five Jade Harvester's Shoulders before I have a chance of equipping them, ya know? Not with how rare they are, at least.
I suppose sets could have a more tethered range for the rolls, whatever would make them more appealing WITHOUT use of multiple pieces of said set. That being said, I assume the general power of these end-game sets is only realized when the player has the appropriate set bonuses in place. Legs don't have this dynamic. Instead they have the 'ol orange affix.
So there's the trade off. Legs = Orange proc
Sets = set bonus (assuming multiple pieces are gathered).
I have no particular issue with this dynamic at all.
For me, legendary is legendary, no matter the set or item. All legendary (set or not) should have same chance to drop, not as it is now.
Finding those end-game caliber sets/legs would be no joy in that case. Just so glad you aren't on the dev team. That......that is a fucked up attitude toward itemization in general.
Ya well I started on ROS Launch got like 500+ hours and Paragon 300 and Have 2 Tals and 1 Vry and thats it.. Rest is bullshit Blackthorne Set and crap legs.. Sorry 500+ hours playing and 2 tals peices for a wizard is bullshit. RNG = Crap but w/e

Over 500 hours in a month? Meaning, aside from sleep, you've basically done nothing for a month other than play D3?
Do you think that has anything to do with why you're so mad?

500+ hours.. in a month... nope lol. even if thats true then im sorry to say but... its random. some days ill play for 2-3 hours and get 2-3 legendaries and 1-2 set pieces. some days ill go 10+ hours without any legendaries or sets. today i got 2 set pieces for barb set and got a badass set of lut socks all within an hour. total this week ive found 4 set pieces where as last week i found none. its random man sorry to tell ya... and i think having sets drop rarely makes it more fun when they DO drop. GREEN BEAM OMFG!
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
...Been playing Diablo Since Diablo 1 came out...and haven't stopped playing Diablo since...
you do realize this game actually drops items we are using. 2 years ago...we couldn't even find anything to equip. You want a higher drop rate????? You want to be in torment 1 after a few runs of rifts? ....I think you are forgetting how good we have it right now..... Remember when we did finally get access to high magic find and monster power we got legendaries that were always useless. We all ended up paying 500 hrs before we saw a legendary and then when we got them they sucked and we still had the auction house as the only option... for any upgrade if you wanted to go further than MP 5 or 6.
Why is everyone forgetting how much more improved this game is. Don't forget so soon how bad it was and included so bad the director basicallyquit because the whole world with any thing Jay Wilson became famous for sucking , but getting so bad his personal privacy and safety were at risk, I even remember Rob Pardo actually replied to a thousand page post bashing Jay. If you noticed rob pardo was not producer on this , but Pierce was, I know they rotate but its still something to consider..

I like the way you think, sir.\
I do have to say, though, that calm and reasonable feedback on new features is always a good thing (along with some passion). Overreacting and blowing things out of proportion isn't - which is what I think you wanted to convey as well.

Because it's easier to complain about slightly bad stuff than to recognize amazingly good improvements.
People living in first world countries seem to have a very strong tendency to complain about more things than they really should (personal opinion and experience here folks). Money isn't good enough, their work isn't properly valued, there aren't enough labour rights, food and home are too expensive, the american dream is a lie cuz I'm not a millionaire, my life sucks, etc... but they hardly ever check their countries actual "numbers" and compare to really shitty third world countries. Or to what their own country was a couple years ago.
That's usually true when people analyse their governments too. If a president does 99%+ of things right, then makes a bad call in one small thing, and the media blows it out of proportion with some sensationalism, people tend to forget how much better than previous governors/rules that person was up to that point.
Either way, by now I think Blizzard devs have this feedback analysis down to a science. It's pretty easy to just ignore all the crap and focus on the actual important stuff. The most important thing is always voicing your opinion, no matter which side you're on =] gotta do your part towards those statistics.

You're either
1. Extremely exaggerating the amount of hours you've played
2. Extremely inefficient in farming/grinding
Most people on forums tend to exaggerate shit (much more prevalent on the official forums) so I'm guessing #1.
SO agreed 100% it's just ridiculous how I find 1 shitty set piece once like 3 weeks while many others find it everyday. Here's my frustration similar to OP. F**K rng

Watching other kids play with nice toys that your parents couldn't afford probably caused you to act out quite a bit, aye?
The question is, should it work exactly this way, or should there be some kind of long term assistance. Maybe not even short like the currently legendary help that you get after a few hours.
I don't know if it should change or not personally, I am willing to wait. However, that having been said, being a player who has now logged (embarrassingly) over300 hours of play time withjust about half of that being in Torment 5 and torment 6 rifts,on a Witch Doctor since ROS has launched, having not been able to find a single Witch Doctor based set item since the very first week, it begins to feel useless. I want to improve my Witch Doctor, even if it takes months, I would love to know I am making some sort of progress. But, because RNG is RNG, I know that I have not.
I have 640 rifts completed, most being t3-t4, and haven't managed to get 4p of any class set yet ~_~
Some of the players I occasionally play with already finished 4p sets with less than half the runs. it's really just how random works.
If anything maybe set items are too random, but I don't think it's a too low issue. I think they are actually too high on average, just that some people get screwed by RNG. If there was trading, bad roll set items would be pretty much free, because there are actually a ton of them floating around.
The drop chance on set items is fine in my opinion but i do agree that you can get unlucky and not find anything for too long and that sucks.
I think they should add more hidden timers that basically force a set item to drop for you after x time played. These timers should not be announced or revealed to the player base though.
Also, i had two Jade helms drop in 2 days... That's just shit you know, the game should prevent that imo and just recognize that you already had that set item drop in the last few days and give you a different one from the same set.
Oh look, again those random abstract negative commentaries about the game. It's almost like I'm on the comment session of IGN or Gamespot, or any youtube video, where almost everything people say is something like that. 6-7 months of beta testing, with some stuff being heavily changed based on player testing (specially streamers and tryhard hardcore exploiting players), but the game has obviously (can't mark that word enough - it means beyond any reasonable doubt!!!) not been tested, at all. We know it, for a fact. Because we are omniscient.
It's hard (if not impossible) to argue with anyone who thinks the current state of D3 RoS is a grass cake or mud, as far as quality in ARPGs go. Most of these are simply stuck in a specific mindset that they're never gonna be able to let go.

Don't get to discouraged. It's not anyone's duty to convince the players specifically how they should feel about topic XYZ.
yes its true people tend to shout about negative aspects more often than they shout about the positive ones. but thats only when viewing the entire landscape of people. its a small hurdle to hop over. the one of negative feedback. I dont think I've ever seen a google restaurant review that was positve. but im seeking out the answer about the restaurant, im not seeking out what I read about it. I believe the saying goes "take it with a grain of salt?
if you, a game company, or a game employee in this situation namely Blizzard and its staff, are looking for a type of reaction, you will find it.
if you are looking for negative feedback it's there to be found. if you are looking for positive feedback, its there. you will find it if you are honestly looking.
but that paragraph of feedback cant be used as a measuring stick for "Anything". it simply can't.
it cant be used as a measuring stick for how people generally feel for the game,
it cant be used as a measuring stick of the quality of any forum,
it cant be used as a comparison of this forum VS the official forum,
it cant be used as a measuring stick of the character of the person who typed it up....you see?
its only a small sliver of the answer. When I read this forum title and glance at the posts through out, tell me im crazy:
I pretend Im a fucking game developer on par with Blizzard or on par with whoever fill those shoes in California....and I ask myself 2 questions:
1. Am I satisfied that people are complaining about finding verbatim copies of set peices that do not add to their respective set in any way?
2. Am I satisfied with the amount of sets and the compostion of the set pieces, the rarity and odds of completion?
The answer? its not one that you typically type out. The answer is a philosophy that guides you hopefully. you'd start typing it and you might never stop, and hopefully what gets typed is code for a game that is being honest with itself. and in this case it seems that personally I would be let down. I'd feel I let myself and the game down. and at the same time I'd feel incredibly proud of the other aspects of the game that I feel shine through. sure...thats fine. . it would basically get me up off of my fat slimy haunches every day to push and push....
I would not lay blame, recoil at the negative feedback or slump over in victory at the positve feedback about other aspects as noted above.......id just glance at it all andkeep going....if In fact was a game designer....which anyone can be in their heads.....becuase the design of a game can exist in the space of a mind....programming it is a different story...

Right, but that's a fair and measured response.
Calling D3 "mud" and RoS a "grass cake" is just the ramblings of someone who gets his rocks off by going around on Yelp giving negative reviews. There are legitimate complaints that people can have, but any intelligent person can see through that kind of shit and see it for what it is... someone who wouldn't be pleased if the waitress gave him a handjob while he was eating the most amazing dinner of his life. He'd find some way to exaggerate it. "If you were receiving a handie with a handful of glass then this HJ would feel good, but it's really terrible."
You can make that kind of hyperbolic claim for almost anything in the world, but it just doesn't work. D3 isn't "mud" ... at best it's a hamburger that just didn't do anything for you. Even if you went in expecting the best hamburger in the world, just because it didn't live up to your tastes doesn't mean that it was equitable to eating a pile of dirt. The fact that you were presented with an edible hamburger (a game that functioned and was playable) automatically means it's not THAT bad. Sure it may have cheddar cheese and you prefer provolone. Sure it might have fried onions and you hate onions, but that doesn't make it a 0/10.
Yet that's the routine logic we see here. Anything short of 10/10 becomes 0/10. It's so obviously-idiotic that it makes my head hurt.
yea that's true...haha reading your reply I was literally thinking back to what I was doing at work an hour ago. helping the HVAC guys. reminiscing about how a few years ago my office was taken from me and turned into a storage room for the dept.
in reality ..having my office taken away was "not that bad" like you mentioned.... but boy oh boy my language telling the story about the asshole who pulled the stunt......it heavily suggested a 0/10 to say the least
interesting to think about though....
