And who cares of a bot gets PL100 first? It doesn't effect you and eventually if it is a bot it will get banned.
I do, its like winning the Tour de France while being doped. Nobody will remember the 2nd place winner years later, although he is now officially the winner...
Do you remember who was #1 in the 3rd D2 ladder season? Probably not. Years later no one will remember who was first in pLvls either, unless some website keeps that data recorded for us, of course..... but that's not exactly the same thing as remembering on your own who got the world first Illidan kill 5 years later, now is it?
Depends entirely on who it is and what it is. I'll always remember Krip being the first and only person to kill HC Inferno Diablo pre patch just like I'll always remember RussBarb being the first Vanilla D2 character to ever hit 99.

Are you really so naive? Top 5000 in Elite-Killls are probably ALL BOTS! And most Bots should already be 50+
Thats why D3 is so bad - because the Bot-Users and the AH-Campers have the best Items - not people that play alot...
So what you are saying is the D3 is the same as D2 and D1 just now it is more apparent? GG.

And whats wrong with AH camping? I as an AH camper puts more effort into it, than you do when LOLZZzz farm act 3 for the 32728th time. If AH camping are so easy and rewarding why dont you go grab a few 100 mills.
Sorry for enjoying the game within the game :=)
Because I bought a FREAKING GAME TO PLAY and no Auction-House Simulator!
AH kingpins have existed in every single game with tradeable items.
Stop whining about D3. It's no different than D2, WoW, EverQuest, UltimaOnline, GuildWars, or any of a number of others in that respect.
Seriously, can the phrase "auction house simulator" just be some kind of week suspension or something? It's the epitome of ignorance because mindless people continue to parrot it as if D3 is the only game ever where people amassed amazing amounts of in-game currency by being smart traders. The facts prove that AH barons don't destroy the economy - you can look at countless other games to see that. They may have a negative impact at times, but they do not destroy the economy.
I'm all for logical discussion but this train of thought is as far from logical as you can get. It's so ridiculously myopic in the fact that it ignores history just to make some kind of half-baked attack on D3 for the sake of being a Blizzard-hater and for no reasons grounded in genuine reasoning. It's just repeating uninformed, ignorant, flame-inducing rhetoric. Nothing more. Nothing more.
EDIT
Hell, the entire premise of this thread is almost trolling at this point. The guy has streamed for quite a while tonight. He is not a bot. He has divulged his farming techniques, spec, and gear. Having a thread on the front page accusing him of being a bot is... inaccurate at best. While I realize that this thread was created at a point where there may have been speculation, that speculation has been squashed.
I've edited the thread title to reflect that it isn't a bot. Right now, the only purpose it serves is to fool people. And we have a front page news on it as well, so myth debunked.
By the way, stay on topic. There's a ton of AH threads out there if you wanna discuss it. If I see people no longer wanna discuss the Top Paragon ranked player, I'll just close this thread.
This guy is the real deal. Alkaizer is also the GM of a US World of Warcraft guild, which has achieved numerous Server firsts. Great leader, great player. I should know because I've raided with the guy for a while before.

Hell, as you've already pointed out in another thread, AH barons actually HELP the economy by actively subjecting high value items to the 15% AH penalty, effectively removing millions upon millions of inflation-causing gold from the economy.
Some people should stick to arguing about the Kardashians.
On topic: is there anything left to say about this? The kid plays a metric shit-ton of hours with a tried and true farming method. Some people enjoy playing themselves out of content.

Last night on his stream he (or more correctly the guy who was speaking as he was playing) said he averages around 900k XP/minute and that he frequently spikes over 1m XP/minute.
I busted out my calculator and using 10.4 billion total XP, ignoring XP spikes, it would take him a total of 11,556 minutes to get from 0 pXP to max. That's 192 hours, or just over 8 days of nonstop playing.
So, really, if he were playing nonstop he'd have been long since pLvl 100. He is just absurdly efficient. Absurdly efficient. There is no bot out there that could do even 500k XP/minute and this guy is doubling that easily. His time investment is actually fairly small. It's roughly 10 hours a day during the week and 14 hours a day on the weekends to get where he is right now.
Considering that it was alleged that this guy was playing in shifts, or a bot, that's almost funny because, while it's not something that you or I would ever do, 10-14 hours per day for a two-week period of time is no more extreme than what progression raiders in WoW do on new tiers of content. It's very do-able for someone who is intent on doing it.
EDIT
Just to put some more perspective on it, if you factor in some spikes (let's up his average XP/minute to 950, from 900) then it's down to 10,947 minutes, or 182 hours, or 7.6 days. His XP/minute spikes cut off a full TEN HOURS of total farm time. That's unreal.

How does a story on the home page prove there is no botting going on? You can't know what he is doing at all times.I'm not saying it is or is not a bot, I have no idea. I would rather think it was a bot because, in order to get to lvl 96 by now, this guy must lack an semblance of a productive life.
I would prefer to think he was botting at night and doing something more useful with his time, but to each his own I suppose.
EDIT: Ok, after reading shaggy's post above, I suppose I should take a look at the stream before condemning this guy. If he is averaging that much XP per minute... then I may learn something

True, it doesn't. I don't think I meant that though.
I meant that most people probably agree by now (since the guy streams 5-10 hours a day) that he simply doesn't need to bot. I don't even think you can make a bot that can farm that effectively (have you seen him playing :P? it's insane).
Plus, our news team is pretty competent I don't think they would front page a bot...
He probably lacks any semblance of a productive life but people admire him because he definitely has some willpower to be able to keep that up, and to each their own. I feel kinda sorry for the guy, but at the same time I feel a bit jealous that I don't have his gold/char/gear

60+ hours a week qualifies on my time investment meter squarely at the "shit-ton" mark. WoW raiders are even more batshit crazy since they raid at all goddamn hours, day or night.
I'm pretty impressed with his progress, don't get me wrong, but he's pretty much devoted two weeks of his life to doing this. Fuck that.
Well it's against the ToS for one. You can't use the AH as an "investment vehicle", which is what buying up items and reselling them is. Considering they won't ban obvious gold farmers, autohotkeys MF switchers, and paragon botters in a timely manner to make it not wortwhile to do so, I'm sure you can continue AH camping. The question I have for you is this: When Diablo 3 was released, were you really excited and couldn't wait to spend hours looking at a list of items?

You're completely wrong concerning the ToS and "investment vehicle." At its very basic definition, players would need to be buying items and holding them for an appreciation allowance; that is, buying things they believe will increase in value in the future to be resold. Purchasing something and immediately reselling it for a profit is not "investing," it's simply trading or buying and selling.
Perhaps there are players who actually invest real money into items in the hopes that they appreciate for profit in the future, but those types are few and far between, and most certainly not those being referred to when speaking of "playing the AH."
So please, stop using the term "investment" like it's a catch-all for buying and selling items. It's not. Even if it was, it's primary reason for being in the ToS is to cover Blizzard's ass if some scrub launches a civil suit against them for damages because he lost his pixels for whatever reason.
[mod edit] Alkaizer is a popular streamer. Unless there's something we're missing, he isn't a bot nor has botted so far. He is currently (when this edit happened) lvl 97 Paragon. There's even a news post about it (with a link to his stream)http://www.diablofan...ame-developers/Zero(pS)
Hahhaha Are you his friend or he pay you to talk like that?
First of all Popular Streamer ? Look at his stream when was his First time - Yesterday ... For the First time he Streamed yesterday, if you say that he isn't a bot u are sadly mistaken Sir. from the Checkpoint he started (on the stream) we [ a TON of People] knew that he was Botting that level.
++ A tip when a Guy does level 1 ~ 95 Paragon Leveling up and when he hits level 96 Starts to Stream - > Something Fishy .... Please i know u are a Mod and i know you have "God powers" but don't speak things that u don't know For a Fact.
Yesterday he streamed from 96 to 98. Even if it was simply from 96 to 97, that's almost 300million xp! He did it while you all watched. Did he have some super duper secret killing spot? Did he afk while millions of things killed themselves to thornes? Did people group up zones for him to go in and kill? Did he do any of the other million conspiracy theory things y'all suspected him of doing?
Nope!
All he did was a legitamite build and supercharged the damn thing. The only time he stops is if he's looting legendaries, changing zones or making a new game. He's sacrificing everything for pure killing speed.
