And i'm in europe, on balkans, i didn't have internet until a year ago. Now I have 1 mb conection. There are a lot of people that dont have any internet, or have bad connectiona, saying otherwise is being naive.
The rest of the world can't really hold off technological development just because you are behind in the balkans, no offence
Should you ban all MMO:s aswell, since they require an internet connection?
The rest of the world? The rest of world does not have computer at all, or in best case have some old crap, because its luxure for what they don't have money. You and me are small part of the world.=)
I just can't understand your argument. Because some people are poor/don't have access to an internet connection, then you shouldn't make the game as is? Not everybody can afford to have nVidias latest GPU:s either, should nVidia stop making them? The market is obviously people with an acceptable internet connection.
Personally I'm really glad that the game is online only, since that minimizes the problems with dupes, cheats and whatever that was so plaguing for Diablo 2.

Why would you point such a silly example, D1 had D2 had offline mode, D3 don`t have anymore does all MMOs had a single-player version before and now all the sudden are all online ?
The point is that there are valid reasons for having the game online only. Blizzard isn't forcing online just to fuck with people. If you don't have the technological setup necessary, well, too bad for you. The game isn't targeted for EVERYONE, therefore you can't demand that it should work for everyone. Just like Crysis is targeted for high end computers.

First, its not some, second they are not poor in ther countries, but compared to others they are. Also diablo 1 and 2 didnt need internet conectio, so it was played in thoes countres. Now they wont. But nVidida is making also cheap GPU, from what it gets much more income then best GPU, and you know from where that income comes? Try to ghes who is buying all cheap GPUs.
If you don't like changes, stick with the old then. I think your the guy who doesn't get it either.
Why don't I get it? Simple for the fact I'm not willing to drink the kool-aid +++ Blizzard is trying to use?
So your only concern are dupes and hacks? Guess what, if you split solo and online problem fixed. Yeah I guess you believe in the "we don't want people starting over crap by Wilson?". Just shows Blizzard 2.0 things their customers are idiots who can't make decissions for themselves.
Starcraft 2 is different beast most people are playing this game for its competitive nature, personally I've never touched it cause they split it up into 3 pieces so they can cash in 3 times and didn't offer lan.
in Diablo 2 online and offline ARE sepparated and since the game is easily hackable on your computer its easy to figure out ways to do the exact same things to the online version. ergo why there is so much duping/botting in D2.... DER - common sense

What those of you like Odin don't get, is this isn't a singleplayer game. It never was. The game was programmed from an engine architectural standpoint to be online only. None of the important information is stored locally on your machine. it's all stored server side in an effort to prevent people finding ways to hack the game.
Please stop using "makes no sense to have a single player game online only" argument. This is not Diablo 2. Diablo 3 was ALWAYS going to be an online game. End of story.
Edit: I will stop feed the trolls now. Even tho I do understand your situation Ragnar, gl tho. Hopefully you will get a better connection, even tho 1MB is very fine, but it all depends on the MS, and that's not related to up/down speed.
Thanks for your kind words mate. Man this forum is so big, i cant even get to read all the thing I want and its even worse with posting.
I hope you all eat your words after they release a single-player version..
Personally? I think that'd be tits to have a single player version, but since ( Blizzards words ) there's no intention of ever making one, for the already 1 million times stated reasons, it's no skin off of my back. It sucks when you can't connect to the internet, I get that. But realize that's a very small minority of people planning on playing D3 at all, and you must sacrifice the few for the many; In this case take out single player, but make the game as a whole much more enjoyable because of the increased security.

I must ask you somthing. What for do you need that much security? How I understand, there will be no ladder, no PvP competition and statistic for that, and things like that. The game can be played with max 4 players, so finding people that dont cheat is not hard. What do you really get from this security, if there is nothing similer to like sc2? With single player option, you can play same if you play with people that you know. You will lose nothing, but other people will get everything because they can play single player. I would understand this much request for security if there was competition like in SC2, but there is none.
They offer so much because they know it will be forgotten once Diablo III is out. Let's face it, Torchlight is a cheap knockoff.
True about Torchlight, but possibly not about TL2, which has had almost three times the development time by now. If they were going for cheap first-day sales, they would have rushed it and beaten DIII by months. Obviously, they would rather polish and don't care about going head-to-head.

torchlight 2 looks like shit. people say diablo is cartoonish? my god.

The smallest problem is graphic. Graphic is not somthing that will make a game to be played for years. While torchlight has bad, and cartony graphic, diablo is also not that much good looking for today standars. And that is a good thing, you can play it on almost every computer. Hack, torchlight you can even play on computers older than 6 years.
If I was killed by any mob in Torchlight 2 I would kill myself. It'd be like some doll killed me. It's graphic for little kids. Diablo 3 graphics may be not 3D top computer melting one but amount of great art put in it is astonishing. This game has soul and a style which many appreciate and would never replace it even with Unreal Engine 3 graphics or mechanics (though I may just exaggerated now as D3 looking like below demo would probably be great done either by GoW or D3 team as both has great artists).
There will never be an offline mode by blizzard. And no, your little rebuttle about pirated servers is a joke. You know why those servers will be a joke? because they will never be able to emulate the drop tables, monster spawns, random dungeon generation of the official servers. Want to know why? BECAUSE THERE IS NO OFFLINE PLAY. all that information is stored on the blizzard servers, not your client.
So yeah, you can log into those unoffical servers (which currently requires you to log in via internet btw) but the play experience will be SHIT compared to the official servers. Just like WoW.
So if you really wanna play that crap go ahead.
BTW, yeah D2 had segregated offline and online. But, that was D2. This game is not D2, it's designed to be connected online. Live with it or don't play it. It's not going to change.
Crysto, I've read that one. He must get some friends instead of playing with bots. He will find some when game is released. On top of it he may try to play alone to get a feeling and appreciate the art
Btw, I wonder if people mentality is going to be different for TL2 beta. Ah, of course it will, as so many 5 years old gonna play it.

Unfortunately, art style of diablo 3 has nothing to do with art style of diablo series. The art style looks more like a darker WoW then a diablo sequel. There is no soul, or better or worse art style. All are good. Its matter of taste. . You dont like cartony, i also don't like cartony (and that's the only thing i don't like about torchlight ), but for me diablo 3 is also cartony compared to dark gothic style of previous diablo.
Ragnar, I like both old and new Diablo. I even like that filters which make Diablo "darker". But the differences are small comparing to TL2. People who like Diablo art style will mostly still play Diablo 3 but they will never play TL as art is so different there. It has no sense comparing two games or saying go do torchlight as they have better mechanics. I believe people play Diablo as they love its art style and mood and from this perspective TL is completely different game.

Really? That's why Starcraft 2 is online only? For spying and auction house reasons? I must've totally missed the auction house in SC2
