Not sure if there is another thread, but figured i'd post anyway; I'm watching the DH high def vid on youtube from the new FnF beta streaming, and there is a point where she gets pretty low health. Is it just me, or does that giant red circle that takes up 2/3 of the screen too large? Possibly I've gone crazy from watching others play diablo and this is the result =) either way I'd like to get some opinions =P
Personally, I hate it. It is extremely distracting and obscures far too much of the screen. You are more likely to die because of it since you can barely tell what else is going on in the game.
Least I'm not the only one; I hate nitpicking but that defiantly seems a little overboard, Personally a much smaller ring around the edges would suffice.
I have also noticed the rather large amount of screen space being taken up by it, it does kind of give the incentive to never be that low, so keep killing things to find health globes, but I fear that in later difficulties, especially Hell and Inferno, you might be in that situation a lot. I think instead of having the sides get all bloody, maybe the contrast and colour begins to change...maybe it gets a little more black and white, but with a reddish tinge and the sound gets muffled (I'm sure other games have done this and maybe this is where I'm getting the idea ahha). This gives you the sense of danger, but doesn't limit your vision on the screen.
That would be my opinion, although I am not currently part of the Beta, and more than likely won't be lucky enough to get a key once the public one starts, so I can't be sure if the way it is now would really affect my gameplay.

I came to post this!
lol so srry sir =D
Why you sorry?
you saved me from typing more than i needed but then again i am typing this now explaining myself so it was all for nothing lol.
I like it. Think about it...if you're badly injured, you're probably not going to be seeing too clearly. I think it does a great job of making you feel like you're really in trouble.
I personally hope it stays exactly as it is.
I remember you got absolutely no indication of low health when playing Diablo 1 so this is better than that but it is overkill.
Making the indicator half the size it is now would be just as effective.
does anyone have a screenshot of this? I've seen this mentioned several times on forums. I can see this be distracting to people in the arena pvping, since you and your opponent are probably always close to dying, and you wouldnt want to be distracted all the time by the warning

Yeah I agree. It's a great feature.
There's a reason it's as blatant as it is....you're dying.

I think the concept is perfectly fine, but it could be a little bit smaller than it is now. I think the biggest problem is the lack of an audio indicator, though, it seems really weird to have all that redness obscuring your vision, but no problem with hearing at all? Maybe a faint heartbeat and slight dulling of sound effects would be the trick, along with a slight reduction of the redness's size.

Thank you
and yea its definitely too much, and it stays on as long as your health is below that level. It'll be difficult for you to see your enemies and their shots coming in. If a health globe dropped, it might be hard to see it too, since the red background just blocks it.
In a PVP it'll be even worse, as other players are constantly moving, using their skills and this just blocks your view.
ya, i think the amount of screen blocked out is maybe a little too much. also, i think it would be better if it was just on a timer how long it blocks part of your screen. i see the reason to have it, though. it could save you from dying by reminding you to check your hp more often. the red screen pops up so you hit a potion/heal. as stated above, i think it would be nice to have an option to turn it off/put it on a timer to turn off.

At 4:30 is the Indicator. You will know it when you see it.
Oh and at 5:13 you get to see a character death.
That said, I bet a pulsing health globe (like a heart beating faster?) would be sufficient, and less obstructing.
I mean, might as well give the monsters the kill. They earned it. I usually never drop that low.
Thank you
