What do you guys think of a function in the game where you would be brought to a menu where you could "create" your own weapon. You would start of with a base such as an axe or a sword, and then you would be able to manipulate its overall shape, add "teeth" to it, spikes, etc. Obviously, there would many restrictions so you can't make penis-shaped weapons and the like. The idea would be that this does not happen very often and would be a rare treat to someone who found an item that would allow you to come to this menu. And should you come across it, you will have the ability to make a weapon that nobody else can have in the game (unless you trade it or someone tries to copy your design). What do you guys think?
Cons that I have already thought of are:
1.) Being rare, will the system be used enough to pay off for the time invested making it.
2.) Would a "customized'' weapon really look that much different from those already in the game?
3.) Would seeing funky looking weapons take away from the realism of the game?
This is a nice thing as long as you cant paint it rainbows... I mean not that i have anythign against them but a rainbow sword in diablo 3 just doesn't fit to me. I could see havin a base adding any type of element you want to it, then adding detail like blood splatter 1 2 3 and maybe a steel handle instead of wood a barbed wire club etc but nothing to complicated like paint or like stuff that would make it crazy.

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
i'm not sure about this, you can't go and like CREAT YOUR OWN WEAPPON, with the attributes you wish and whatever...
but i thought of something that i think it would be nice.
on gems/runes customization on WEAPONS, it could add things not only magically, but also, aesthetically to weapons.
like: you add a JEWEL that gives the weapon the prefix GREATLY, than, it would increase it's size in game.
or you put a rune that gives Cold dmg on a sword, and then, your plain old steel sword would change to something that looks like a cross with the crystal swords' blade, so it feels icy*
not all runes/gems/jewels have to do something physacally to the weapon.
but i think it would be nice, and go with your item drop level.
Better yet, items that change visually through use/over time. Say you use alot of fire-based attacks, maybe your sword begins to look burnt. Or maybe it would depend on the types of monsters you kill most. Say you kill 200 of some type of horned monster, your axe gets a spike or two etc.
