I was watching the diablo 3 game design panel with Jay Wilson and they've said that the multiplayer would be best suited for 4 players..i now understand that. with the right adjusments it could be a really good co-op experience.
The main thing that got me worried about the multiplayer was the quote from Jay Wilson stating that "anything that can be done in multiplayer can be done playing single player"
what i was hoping they'd do was add extreme bosses needing a large team to take them down, this would bring a much more playable experience to multiplayer, they also stated that even if you have a large team the drops wont be any different to single player, drops not so much a big problem.
ALSO i was wondering will there be more monsters spawned x amount of players in game,
say if 4/5 players online would there be x3 monsters + x3 damage or what?
the more monsters the harder the game, the more the ownage and more things to kill!
will it be like this?
i feel that the game could be to easy if basically what you can do in single player would be just as easy with a full team online.. we'd need harder/more enemies to feel more motivated to get a full group online and hunt them down for rare loots!.
im sorry if i didnt explain it all right
but please tell me what you guys think
While I agree that there ought to be motivation of some sort for playing in a party, they can't really put stuff in the game that can't be done alone. There are going to be people who buy D3 that do not have internet, or not a good enough connection to play on Bnet. It would be pretty crappy to add in a whole bunch of stuff that these people can't do. The motivation for partying is likely going to come in the form of increased experience, as it was in Diablo II. I can't recall any other reason for partying besides completing questions and gaining experience more quickly.

yeh i do understand about leaving the single players features out but maybe bosses/monsters to be way harder online and droping rarer loot, just something to differ it from single player.
yeah buts kinda the same as we c in D2 you can kill all on your own exept ubers if you dont got a smiter or zealer or what ever you need. its good that you can kill mobs/bossen on your own if you need other ppl all the time its not gonne be very funny, just like wow i hated it that i needed healer tanks etc to do instance.
but they have to add some places you need more ppls just like baal runs etc more ppl more exp faster kills etc
See, the thing with Baal runs is that you don't need more people to do the run itself necessarily, it's just good for the extra experience. As far as the Ubers go, it's true that you need a party with that, but you also have to remember that those were added way far past the game's release, when it had been long established and the players were looking for something new. It was also an extra, something you didn't have to complete in order to get all the story/finish the main game. My point is that there shouldn't be anything vital to the storyline that you can't do on your own. Bonus quests, or special bosses of some sort? Sure, I'm all for that.

The game difficulty will scale with the amount of people in the game. If your playing without cheats then Single Player will be the standard 1 player difficulty... Im not too sure if the population/difficulty graph grows linear or exponentially tbh
Plus, when your playing online you can always rely on someone in your party to not be pulling their own weight, making the game harder but not adding anything to it
Dont judge Diablos difficulty by the difficulty of the gameplay trailer. That would be like juding the difficulty of Diablo 2 when you see a level 10 clear out Den of Evil
It won't be too easy.. of course when you get the perfect character it will get easy to solo even in full game. Soloing with weaker character in full game might work too but it might not be efficient way to clear areas.
And this is not MMO, we don't have huge parties and it would suck to always gather 10 people to get anything down. It's just nice that you can join a game and go kill some monsters without caring about getting company if you are not in the mood for that.
And yeah it's nice that you know better about what amount of players in party is good than the guys that have been developing and playing the game! 8 players party is a mess even in D2.. with all the skill and spell effects in D3 it wouldn't be much fun, besides I rather take 4-5 player party where everyone has to do his share of work than 8 player party where half of the party can just leech like in D2.
i wasn't really comparing it to the gameplay vids, if it is anywhere near that easy its just gonna lose its replayabitlity factor, hard games are the best, hard games is what keep people playing..
now comparing it to d2, d2 was an easy game, once you knew the right people you could just rush all the acts and pretty much get ur char up in a day, im just hoping d3 isn't that easy.
its not that bad making multiplayer games with 4 people max in it....that makes for better co-op gaming and bonding between the players
lol i dont even do 4 i do 3 and im still able to kill all the bosses within 8 seconds with my sorc xD (also lvl cap of 5 =3)
really above 4 is not really needed
o and your gonna complain about the lan party thing
its not impossible to have to 2 groups playing a different game lol
so 4 on one game and then 4 on another =3
that way you can mix and match buddies to play with as well so each game you play wont be the same strategies and i think that will actually make it more fun lol
i dont think Diablo 3 will be too easy at all
but there will be monsters in the game prob more often than in D2 that will be pathetically easy to kill, but in larger number im guessing since they increased the possibility of more monsters on screen at once =3
the bosses from the videos look like they can take a lot of damage as well
also there had to be a reason why the barb was avoiding so badly to get hit by the thousand pounder lol
The purpose of a game is not to be easy or hard, but to be enjoyable. DII was easy, because HC players managed to get to level 90 without dying. Since when did Diablo II became a hard game, honestly? Besides spending ages on killing certain immune-to-everything monsters and Hell Knights, it was pretty easy.
I think Blizzard could benefit from dividing SP and MP, making MP more party dependent, and SP more independent, but I believe the "you can solo the whole" game is actually directed at MP players. They don't want to force you into a part. In fact, normally, getting a party would make enemies stronger and not at all improve your situation. Which is why I don't really get your argument. It's hard to create a game that a solo player cannot win, nor is there demand of that.

im a new member but been reading around for a couple of months..
and did not make an acount to complain, but ive wanted to post and ask this question for a while now.
im sorry if i didnt explain it all right

I think that we better wait atleast for blizzcon, so we will have more info about d3 and then we can judge better...
The best part about Diablo II was that if you weren't being challenged, you could just run to the next area that's usually for people higher level than you.

my argument basically was that the game would need something to differ the single player to the multiplayer apart from experiencing the game with others..
thats why i suggested stronger monsters/other idea's that would get people thinking and really having to work together to survive.
just hoping the co-op experience will be challenging, as Jay Wilson also stated " you can basically use the same spell throughout the whole game until nightmare or so"

Well, I'm fine with that as long as the single player folks are not deprived of such things as ladder runeworlds, uber quests, or mulling...

I believe this should be true for both solo and coop. And if it is true for solo, it will be true for coop given that the game gets harder as more players join it, which should make the game about 2.5 times harder, forcing players to cooperate as long as they're not overpowered... it's a matter of game mechanics (traps, movement limitations, potion limitations, etc.), not raw difficulty. But the way you are saying it, it seems that you're implying Diablo II was hard game, which it was not. And if you paid any attention to the news about Diablo III, you would notice all the features they are adding in to make it less... lazy. Less of a game where you feel safe just because you know you can run away from every monster or drink potions until infinity.

I remenber. And this is a reference to D2. He must have said that when he was explaining why the differences between D2's skill tree and D3's skill tree.

getting more rare drops depending on players in game is dumb though
so im glad they arent doing that again =3
i think they're aiming to make it similar to diablo 1 in the retrospect the game can be solo'd just exactly as easily as it can be played with a party
the way diablo 1 did that was just amazing and diablo 2 really did not do a very good job in that category at all
ppl got too reliant on playing in huge giant parties, so i think the direction they're going is perfect =3
