Yeah, whatever they are, they obviously enchanted with something that makes it act like a conduit. I suspect these Teeth of Diablo are given to the cultists for sacrificing themselves with.
I can almost see the creature being limp and then stabbing those into their spinal cords sort of making them "rise".
Since they are not possessed until they become possessed, then they are probably possessed. And the fact that the monster is called 'vessel' and when you trigger them and they go 'activated vessel' leads me to believe that they are possessed. Somehow 'vessel' and 'possession' go hand in hand don't you think.
Yes, rightly so. Funny how the only possessed monsters in D2 weren't really possessed lorewise. It was just an LoD thing were you had this different opaque looking monsters and one of them was possessed and they were really fast and strong.
Yes. Well now at least you can see them become possessed during the actual gameplay. Though I must admit it doesn't look so grandiose in the actual trailer as the artwork would have you think.
Possession has a special place in my heart because of Evil Dead 2. It's an underrated form of enemy in these types of games. But I don't want to fight a monster possessed. I want to see humans possessed.
Like a small town that is possessed? That'd be awesome.
And maybe with the new achievements thing, if you made it to the source of the possession and destroyed it without killing a possessed human you'd get a achievement, or alternately get one for destroying every possessed villager.
I tend to think of once a human being possessed, is there's either no going back, or the person possessed just dies if the spirit possessing him dies or leaves the body.

Yeah. Both Albrecht and the Dark Wanderer died after you killed Diablo both times. They went back to normal, but they were dead when they did. The demon possessing the kid in the Amityville Horror 2 morphed his body grossly but he went back to normal when the demon left him and went into the priest. I think it's creepier if you go back to normal because you completely attribute the deformations to the demon's presence.
Another think I've been wondering is why there are so many cultists anyway? I mean, they're constantly killing themselves and getting killed by the things they summon. How is it that they're still so plentiful?

Hmm... i guess it's because they are sex addicted, so they reproduce faster O.o
And maybe they sacrifice captured people and not the cult members.
some very good input, especially from Siaynoq- I agree with there not being enough possessed, and the shape of the host being distorted by the demon... really cool.
about those "teeth of diablo" I have no idea, but it still is cool.

'Go then, there are other worlds than these'- Jake Chambers
Theres alot more summoning than possession
Although, I suppose the Rogues, Blood Raven and the Countess were all possessed beings? or just "Corrupted" by Andariels influence... but thats essentially the same thing right?
I see where your coming from Equinox, he does look less physically threatening, but threatening nonetheless. I imagine him to be a magic caster of some type. A crippled body but strong mind type of deal
Hmm, I just looked at the ingame versions of them attacking... You dont really notice the head thing though
Go to 9:20 of the main Blizzcon gameplay trailer. The barb runs into two summoning circles, a few turn into activated vessels. When they die they shake on fire and then explode into blood

Neat idea for a board game: Sanctuary Edition of RISK.
