Though I understand that everybody has a right to their own opinion, I must also impress the point that opinions can be wrong.
In this case, your opinion is wrong.
Whether it is your desire to remain so obtuse and close-minded or your tactless means of trading, you let your opinions fall in a place that are overshadowed by reason.
And let me correct your assumption that we all think "our way is the best." I do not assume that my way of getting items is the best by any means. I just know my way is better than yours
D2 was ruined by poor design. Nothing else effected it, not the community, not the D2JSP, it was the design that ruined it from the very beginning.
I don't see foreign influences ruining WoW? Maybe Blizzard has become wiser and learned how to design a good game. If you can't handle that truth, you can take a hike. Don't tell me to go play WoW, I'm already playing WoW, and I already know more about good game design than any unfortunate WoW-hater will allow himself to.
Aside for that, 'prices' in D3 will never be set, since the amount of gold in the economy will constantly increase and prices will inflate themselves, making new players have to resort to trading lower level items. It would be too early to asume anything else, since we can't know at what pace will the amount of valuable items inflate compared to the gold inflation, and in what way will the new crafting system affect either of those. And even if the prices were set, that wouldn't make anything better or worse. Anyone who says otherwise is full of crap, and won't be able to actually elaborate his stance. Valuable gold has only benefits and no downsides, as I already explained. Can you actually name any of the downsides, and not just say "because prices will be set and that will ruin the game", unless you can provide any bit of logic that proves that prices will be set, and furthermore, present the logic behind your conclusion that it would 'ruin the game' on any level. You can't. Because you are full of crap. End of discussion.

Like I said, gold becomes an inconvenient medium if a player just has an item and knows its value and wants to trade it for another directly without bothering with going through the hassle of making a game, trading the item for gold, making another, and then trading that gold for an item. Item bartering should, and will, still be an option. Gold and direct item bartering are both good and bad depending on the circumstance.
Note: I never said gold would ruin the game in anyway, and I whole-heatedly anticipate its incorporation as a game element.
They also did not confirm that you won't have to. So, since we're coming from Diablo II and don't have anything else to rely on, what I typed is logical. Please stay on topic, we're talking about gold, not the game making system.
just go to www.d2jsp.com or .net whatever it is.... there are actully threads about the prices of items (there exact worth in fg)... look at the last time prices have changed... when the ladder reset, but then they were quickly revatilized within a few months.
gold is just too easy, it does nothing really...... but runes and sojs worked becuase people found new and varying things they could do which flucuated the worth everyday.
whatever its overwith i dont care anymore, this time im really done talking about it.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that he is entitled to believe that trading is this important.
your opinion is wrong.
I believe this is just your opinion; or is it wrong too?
Allow me to redirect you to the context of which you took that from.

It is people like you who stagnate economies and contribute to a broken system. If you think "that way is best" then you're rather pathetic.
But by all means, don't change your mind. Remain ignorant - that's your choice! But don't expect anybody to back you up.
The sentence in question is subordinate to the following explanation. As stated, no, it is not an opinion. It is a statement, backed by a simple reasoned analysis.
I think it is clear for anybody who has followed the posts that the OP to which I was responding does not have reasoned analysis, deriving his opinion off of his own passions and desires. When there is clear evidence that does not support his opinion, his opinion will become wrong. Ignorance is the root of wrong opinions. To remedy it, expand your knowledge and understand all facets of what you are arguing before blanketing your assumption with what is otherwise flawed.
You are absolutely right! Everyone has been talking about gold as if it's going to serve the game's fate; the end of D3, or along those lines.
Welcome to diablofans.com, residence to some of the biggest bitchers of Blizzard this side of the internet. You'll see more people whining and complaining about 'WoWish' things and other complete bullshit more than you'll see game discussion sometimes.
As far as this thread goes, I agree that gold should have more value than it did in Diablo 2, but it should be carefully balanced. I don't think it's smart to have gold be so valuable that you can literally 'purchase' the top gear from people.

Agreed, there should be checks and balances to keep it dynamic and entertaining
Gold will have a logical and practical use in D3. I will say no more in this thread.
Sorry for O/T. This is supposed to be a Diablo based fansite, I did not sign up here thinking I would find so much negativity about my favorite game of all time. I can take the positive criticisms and even most of the negative one's, that are logical, and help to benifet the game and it's community. But if no one else is going to defend D2 against such negative slander than I will take it upon myself to do so.
-The game is not / nor was it ever ruined. It may not be what she used to be, or anywhere even close for that matter... but to go and say it's "ruined" and always has been... is just insanity!! You would think such talk should be outlawed / forbidden considering this website. How many people do you think read that and then decided NOT to start playing d2. Maybe Zero, maybe a thousand.
I guess it's your right to voice your own opinion though. However it still makes me incredibly angry whenever someone takes a cheap shot like that at one of the best games ever.
Please stay on topic, we're talking about gold, not the game making system.
I never touched the subject of 'game making system'. I was discussing the way trades are conducted. In a direct response to you. If I didn't know better, I'd say that you weren't paying any attention to what you are typing.

But then again, the prices in FG on that site are set by someone who says that something costs this much or that much. There are no moderators in D3 who will be telling players how much gold they should trade items for. I also don't think that the mechanic for gaining forum gold is killing monsters and looting them. Thus you don't have an uncontrollable factor of inflation. I also don't think that D2JSP has gold sinks and places where you need to spend your FG. Your entire thesis fails.
You also never provided a reason why set prices would be a bad thing for the game either.
your right walleye, the game is not ruind. im sorry for saying it. but it is definatley not what it used to be and thats for sure. trading any godly items is pratically impossible without d2jsp
