The new logo and some things in the UI like the character pane and the sides of the dialogue pop-up pane just don't feel Diablo-y to me. This isn't anything major, but one of the things that I really liked about the past two games were the solid, carved-from-stone feel to all of the screens and buttons. Now it's got like a red-orange stained glass thing going on and it's not very cool.
Give me a minute to find some examples.
Also, on a minor note, why isn't the logo constantly on fire anymore? That peaked the bad-assery before you even started playing in the first 2. I mean, it's friggin fire. What other logos are there that are constantly burning? I miss that aspect, too.
I was just wondering if anyone else shared these opinions.
Here's the two old, solid-feeling character screens.
Here's the new, weird character screen.
Here's the other weird screen we saw. Check out the borders. They really stick out in context.
This is coupled with the new, trendy button system where it's all Mac feeling instead of solid Windows feeling. Things used to sink in when you clicked them like the old Windows 95 start button versus the new XP and Vista buttons. Now things change instead of move like fake buttons, and it doesn't satisfy me anymore. The old Diablo 1 and 2 buttons sunk in, got a bit darker, and made a sliding stone noise. They even took this away from the infamous Gem. Check it out.
Now it doesn't move and just gets brighter or darker. Lame.
Never thought the UI inventory in the past Diablos were that awesome. I think they weren't creepy enough and they were too bland. The new one got that gothic feel to it, so in a way it should feel even more diabloish.
I uploaded 5 pictures onto photobucket and my bandwidth was exceeded. Lame.
But anyway, I'm a little surprised by you guys. I think the new UI is hideous, personally. It's all orangey and clown-like and WoW style in layout. And you guys like it? You're weird.
You think Win95 has better interface than XP, OS X, and Vista?
I think the new UI looks wonderful art-wise, but I'm still not sold on the doll you dress up - or the way you talk to NPCs now. The close up of the Barbarian and Cain looked like it was made 5 or 6 years ago.

D3 Pros: Outdoors environment, night time environment, female Barbarian, rune spell system, the Wizard class
D3 Cons: Fantasy architecture, fantasy armor, fanstasy weapons, no shaders.
The meaning of 'weird' is relative and I was judging by my own feelings. So please, keep the spam to yourself.
You keep your spam to yourself and stop badmouthing awesome aspects of D3 and calling them 'clown-like' and 'wowish'. I happen to hold D3 very dear. How would you feel if I called your mother clown-like and wowish?
I can't really make up my mind what is better - it's true that it takes up some of the useful space, but on the other hand, it DOES look pretty badass. Don't forget that excessive rock texture is probably there for people who don't have/use widescreen resolutions or high resolutions for that matter. Also, the minimap centering thing will surely be fixed later on.
EDIT: Just remembered that inventory screen in D2 took up exactly 50% of the total width, so this is better either way.
Don't worry, it will be perfect when the game will come out.. more info at blizzcon.. patience my friend..
Btw, wtf is this sig mean "diablo s*cks my balls" ? huh ? that's not funny dude.. it's lame.. grow up..
Aesthetics. Its why I don't enjoy text-based games.
You don't enjoy them because you have no imagination (yes I played a badass MUD for like 10 years of my life on/off). So ya, graphics don't mean too much to me. I can be wowed initially, but ultimately it comes down to gameplay for staying power.
they're already changing that up and playing around with different things.
O vrly? Good to hear, but do you have the source?
Do you think those arrows above the weapon slot is for changing weapons?

And that's my rant.
