I know I don't add alot, but it really saddens me when people automatically put things like what we are talking about and confuse them with AK's and M16's. Nobody here want's Hellgate: London, we want Diablo 3.
Unless they add "gun resistance", handcannon whatever you want to call it is going to tear through leather armor.
What about "bow resistance", "sword resistance", "axe resistance", etc? An axe of that time would do a hell of alot more damage then any gun of that time.
I can see it now, you see the fire, lightning, and ice reistance, then you see bow resistance, gun resistance, axe resistance, etc.
Shoot, lets do away with defense and just have resistances on our armour!!!*Rolls eyes.*

That's included in defense but when you're firing blazing hot balls of metal at someone in leather doesn't cut it at all.
An axe is an armor piercer, it's more effective at killing people but the problem is you have to get up close and personal, with a gun you have quite a bit of walking distance. It's more effective to get up close with a primative gun anyway, they're so innaccurate that it's like 1 in 5 chance that you'll hit the target.
I mean magic throws in an impossability. How can we judge that Leather won't deflect a musket ball in Sanctuary?

Umm, by using basic logic... You take damage from melee weapons in Diablo, so why wouldn't you take a good amount of damage more from a flying metal ball propelled by a explosion?

Uh... did you know that full plates were created to counter crossbows - which were created to pierce all armor that existed? Yes dude, Crossbows were armor piercing weapons!
Damn imba crossbows! Must be banned from diablo because they tear through not only leather armor, but ALL armors except full plate... lol...
Arrows also tear through leather and, if it's point is made of steel and used with a long bow, it can pierce through some mettalic armors like chain mail.
C'mon, people! Understand this once and for all: ARMOR WAS USED TO PROTECT FROM MELEE DAMAGE, NOT RANGED DAMAGE!

Of course you take damage, but it's no different than being struck by a spear or axe. The only difference is that the ball could break apart and spread through your body. It strikes me as odd that a spear with a poison attack would put a gun to rest, since you can't do that kind of stuff with a gun.

Yes but people surviving hand cannons is going to be even less believable. I'm not a historian but I would guess they packed more of a punch than arrows and bolts.
Nah. I don't think guns suit the style of Diablo. Even though it is a fictional world with demons and magical items, it's still a "medieval" sort of setting. Therefore guns wouldn't fit. It would also be too reminiscent of Warcraft, which isn't a good thing.
But guns were used in medieval times.
This is why I facepalm.jpg.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.

A punch is a punch, man. I wouldn't suvive neither an arrow, neither a shot, despiting being naked or wearing a ring mail. Unless it wasn't my day to die, of course - people has the nasty habit of surving impossible odds.
BUT we're not talking about people, we're talking abot the heroes of Sanctuary, that survive LOTS of damage from foul demons with BIG claws that spit fire! They're blessed, se magic, yada yada... If they can hold fireballs and axe thrusts in the head, they can survive a shot or two.

Nah I think the first picture is just wooden beams.
Agreed, those don't look like canons. Some walls in Harrogath had those.
well i got something that would satisfy people who want guns without pissing the people who doesnt want it. maybe for crossbows and bows you can add a special explosion trait? like frost and electricity, i dont know it's pretty far-fetched i know, but i thought i'd just throw in the idea
Of course Blizzard would not make a class for guns. They never made a class for a specific weapon before!
Well they want to make each class unique, so you never know dude.
Besides, they did have class specific weapons, the Zon bows, the necro jars, the paladin shields and the assassin katars.

We just don't bitch "OMG they will ruin the game" if they add primitive firearms.
