Do you think that the merc system should be set up as Fable? Every now and then you have to pay your merc gold to substain his/her services. That would make gold a little more important I would think.

I say that gold should be important for diablo 3. In diablo 2, the only use you had gold for was the beginning of the game, repairing, and reviving your merc.

Gold should be important so that not only people would strive to get it but also that you could buy something thats actually good...
and also they should sell all runes (at very high prices of course) so that if your good at getting money but don't have a good mfer you can still advance and become better.

You already payed for your merc and depending it could cost like 25000 to get one if i remember right but thats a lot more than in fable but then again in D2 inflation is crazy...
maybe it should be like fable...it could charge at the beggining of every game you enter...that would make money really important

Well, lemme tll you this.... For me, Having gold be worth something in D3 will never feel the same to ever again. d1 and d2, never cared for gold and that mind set will pass on to d3. I almost like how rediculous it is. Maybe a little less rediculous, but i think Bartering is better than Selling and Buying to be honest.
I guess now that i am writing this, gets me thinkin. Maybe something in between. I mean. Gold SHOULD be worth something besides Mercenaries, and i guess item trading will still be abundant. I guess im sorta just used to Diablos style.

I do believe that gold should be important but it should not be so important that you spend your entire time looking for it. I should be moderate like at most 1 k from diablo and at most 300 from regular monsters. And it should be easy like every other monster drops at least 1 gold. I dont want to have to run all around the world of diablo looking for 1k of gold.

Or how about gold be the basis of ALL trading though. Paying to repair armor and reviving merc is not enough. In SilkRoadOnline game, you can set your character up to be a merchant. Gold would be very important to you. Unlike Diablo where you sell a magic armor and get 35k gold for it.

gold needs to be the currency of sanctuary, well as much as it can. obviously during the end game items will take over.
but if gold is to be used more frequently then there needs to be more to do with it, repairing/purchasing/gambling for items is great but its not enough.
also it should be rarer as Having currency such as sojs and high runes is rediculous. They need to make gold worth a lot, but no monster should drop more than 250. i reckon uniques should hold a bit more upwards of say 500gp. but nothing insane like 16000 gp.
wheres the using gold to pay for loose woman, alcohol, gambling, betting on fights, buying your way to something or somewhere, paying to get your items imbued/socketed/personalized, upgrades to and for weapons and armor, corrupt officals who take bribes, trading gold for EXP? (yes i have put all of those things in the master list)
i hate the fact the only thing i ever seem to do with my gold is lose it when i die, because i have so much my stash cant take it all, ressurecting hireables, repairing items, there has to be a better use for my thousands of excess gold.
diablo does have a pretty strong SP, i was thinking with the buying EXP is a little cheap, but im talking about at high levels, its how many baal runs to go from lvl 98 to 99? and you dont get the 35% extra exp you get for being on Battle.net do you, need to have something for SP. Yes i play SP, hence why most of my ideas tend towards that direction.

we need a good curency. in diablo 2 lod the gold was worthless. i remember laughing at noobs trying to buy hrs with gold. hehe . gold should be worth more. yet not like runescape. runescape was ridiculous. gold should be given often yet nto generously.

I think that the mercenarys should come into play a little bit more when talking about gold usage. They should become a more integral role when trying to play the single player aspect of D3. And by more integral I mean that there should be more complexity within what types of mercenarys there are in each act and with the amount of items you can put on them. I feel that Blizzard could do so much more with the mercenarys, seeing as if you decide to play alone they do become your right-hand-man (or woman).
Definitly needs to be more important. But then Blizz might have to make the repair costs a bit less 'cause they can get expensive if you just gave a newb some gold.

to make gold more important you need more things to do with it, and to have it is smaller supply. no more monsters dropping upwards of 20k piles of gold
in LOD i have 100's of millions of gp and nothing to do with it, cant buy any items because they suck, cant really gamble for items coz they mostly all suck.

ive seen a council member drop 70k+ , gold is completly worthless
occasionally ill gamble ammys 1 in 2000 are unique, and each unique ammy has the same % to spawn
