Remove seasons and you remove a large portion of the player base. Without seasons, I wouldn't play any more until next expansion.
Exactly this..
Without seasons, there wouldn't be the massive influx of players to non-season, as OP is kinda hoping there would.
Many people probably wouldn't be playing..
Seasons keeps the game "fresh". It gets people to come back and take "another shot at it".
Heck.. I don't even play when there isn't a season running.. When a new one is announced (I usually stop after 2-3 months in a season), I sit and wait for it to start up - counting down the days (pretty much).
OP.. I'm sorry - your heart is in the right place (wanting more people on non-season), but that's sadly just not the way to get what you want..
For me they could get rid of non-season. The first 2 seasons i even saved my char items and organized my stash. Now i don´t even open NS chars, i logged at most 10 hours of non season play i think.
I don't play season due to the fact I don't like to "start over" each time it comes around .. the down side of it is that all the clans I joined are 99% season players so which leaves me clan-less atm ... I do not whine about season or people who play in season and I do not have trouble finding players in public play but it is hard to do high grift (65+) since all the high non-season paragon migrate to seasons..so I am locked playing mid 50's and low 60's grift. but do on occasion get lucky and get into a group of 1K+ para's. I guess my thinking is quit whining and play the hand you are dealt with ...suck it up buttercup or stop playing D3 .. oh by the way if a clan is looking for nonseason player invite me please my tag is HIggsboson#1551
I don't play seasons, that's my choice, but to drop seasons when it is obviously a facet of D3 that drives content upgrade/diversity......that would be an error imho.
I don't play seasons either but I don't have a problem with its existence. Yes I can agree with both sides in regards to why they want and do not want seasons, be it the amount of or type of players that play preferred game plays like high grifts or with certain classes or not starting all over again for the NS etc. However I think the exclusivity of seasonal items should be relooked into and by that removed and given to NS as well. I believe those who strongly approve of seasons and say that without it the game is dead can still play with this adjustment as the main focus as previous post imply is they like a fresh start/ leader boarding and even for this season journey achievements, why should there be an incentive of this exclusivity and shouldn' it be a preference on how you want to play? If this is disagreed upon then I believe seasons is very much for the exclusive items if not and I for one would feel and pardon me for saying this a little short changed if I choose not to play seasons for the sake of enjoying what I've accomplished and have collected so far in NS. I know some might say well then just play seasons but just look at it from the point I've just tried to elaborate.
Enough with the blanket statements, subjective opinions, and logical fallacies. Seasons keep the player base coming back for more instead of waiting for the next xpac, that is empirically true. It is also true that seasonal exclusive loot is an incentive to play seasonal characters, otherwise what is the point if both seasonal and non have the same loot tables? People would just play NS and burn out. Like it or not, seasonal/ladder play has been an important part of Diablo since D2 1.08, and if you don't grasp that idea then it begs the question in regards to how long you've been playing, Without seasons you also have lower incentives for the devs to create new content as well.
I'll make a blanket statement of my own:
The only folks who want seasonal play removed are the ones who are too lazy to level from scratch, and too impatient to give up their OP geared out NS characters. Seasonal play and it's rewards keep the game fresh, and players logging in. Don't like it? Well stop being lazy and level up with a leafed character, or just chill out. Seasonal rewards over NS is just going to keep expanding, because the devs know it's what keeps people playing.
I'd be much happier with seasons removed. Having to restart every few months is getting old and boring as fuck. Remove the season exclusive items and just keep the frames/pets. To those saying that the game would be dead without seasons, you are right; because the game is still broken even with these new patches. Seasons is just a gimmick to draw in the new/casual players to make them feel like they can compete with everyone else by starting fresh. Let's hope they revamp the entire fucking game in the expansion, and fix all these problems once and for all.
Season's are good i reckon playing non-season gets boring cause almost everyone is geared , the only reason u think season is boring cause your just lazy & cbf gearing up again , i find gearing up again is good cause ive had a monk in non-season out geared buy my season one cause it helps me to gear it with better gear..
Funny thing is that if you don't like seasons, you are not affected by them at all... Not sure what the problem is.
Actually that's not completely true. If there were no season, there wouldn't be gear that is reserved for seasons and that you can't have for 4 month when you don't want to chain reroll/level.
yet without season, there might not be new item at all. and you can have the last season new item, so it's new item for NS aswell, just not brand new item ...I keep don't see the point about the gear :\
Yeah but people play Season cuz they don't like non-Season. So...you wouldn't find a group anyway... The existance of Seasons is not to blame here, it's just everybody's individual preference
The fact that the number of non-season players drastically dropped when seasons started shows you're wrong.. It's not like none of the season players would not play non season if it was the only option.
if blizzard didnt came up with seasons many of the now active players wouldnt play anymore or even came back to the game.
i like it
No cause they would have forced to get some NEW and INNOVATIV stuff, so it would even bring more players. Playing the same sh*t every 2-3 months isnt fun or interactive, but fanboys will always be fanboys
i love theese "its all about my personal oppinion" threads...
I particularly loved the way he proved that it was a minority opinion by specifically whining that everyone was playing seasons and that he had nobody to group with in non-season!!
Yeah.. that's a good reason to remove something.. too many people like it!?
Seasons seem like they're one of those things that you either love or hate.
I personally have no interest in seasons and never really invested much time in them. I don't have much fun starting from scratch and I hate that anything cool you get there you have to wait like 8 months to use on your main guys. And that now fun new patches have to be put off that much longer until seasons end. I'm also not terribly invested in achievements or leaderboards or anything like that.
But that's just me. Even though I don't find much interest in it, other people like it enough and aside from how damn long they are they don't really seem to change the non-seasonal experience much for me. I don't see why we'd have to straight out get rid of them. I wouldn't complain if they were like way shorter though.

Eum, what? you might want to rephrase your first sentence because it doesn't make much sense to me atm.
The truth of the matter is that even IF some percentage of people would still play Diablo 3 if seasons weren't introduced (and i am not disputing that, because D3 even NS is still a solid game) it doesn't change the fact that they are clearly more happy playing Season.
I bet that you would see far more negative threads if seasons were removed, than the handful opting for their removal.
Speak for yourself and not for the community. Saying that clans are seasons only or the majority of people play seasons is false. If you want to claim ridiculous statistics then bring facts with you. It doesn't make sense as to why you are trying to bash NS so hard when its the exact same thing as seasons except seasons has exclusive items/gems. Sorry to break the news to you but NS and Seasons are both grindfests, seasons being MORE of a grindfest. You have to farm your items and paragon all over again, and you say thats far less grindy? Think logically and don't let your bias cloud your judgement.
I play both, NS more often. Finding people, groups, other clans to play with has never been a problem. People just assume that 99% of ppl are playing seasons.
Most people do play season, personally within my clan, on my friends list or in the wider group of friends and friends of friends who play Diablo I don't know any of them who actively play non season, every single person that I have seen who played Diablo before seasons came out is now playing Diablo in seasons only.
I've run out of steam for season 4 now so I'm winding down my playing a lot, but it's the fresh start combined with new items and a big community push that gets me to come back all the time, and it's the same for the majority of players who come back in droves to play the new season.. By all accounts it has been a massive success for Blizzard in Diablo.
I'm not saying that people don't play non-seasonal anymore, but it's silly to think that non-seasonal is anywhere near as popular as Seasons.
This guy is either a troll, or he's the equivalent of a die-hard flip phone user complaining about people getting new smart phones every few years and wondering why nobody makes new products for his phone anymore. Get with the times man. Seasons have firmly become the future of D3.
I don't think seasons are inherently bad or that they should be gone. I do however hate how that is all anyone cares about now and hold it up as being more important than anything else.

Not this shit again... /facepalm
Instead of you whining that there is not enough players nonseason and that you want season gone. Here is my suggestion. Play season,
Please blizzard. I like playing season more than nonseason. But others enjoy it. We cant have any of that. So please remove non season
Yeah.. that's a good reason to remove something.. too many people like it!?
