I like the fact D3 is going to console. I myself won't buy in on console because well.....I already have the PC version!
One thing they stated in the article above was that it felt much better to play D3 using a controller than it is to use a mouse and keyboard. That's going to be pretty opinion based don't you think?
Anyway, there's the article. Take a read if you want!
Enjoy!

I agree about the controller thing. I mean, if you've played primarily consoles for the last 20 years... then no one will be surprised anything is easier for you with a controller.
I'm not saying I'm not gonna like it of course. Even years before D3 released devs said it felt pretty natural with a controller. Someone's been playing Deathspank!
Grinding Gear Games (Company that produced POE): "These are great Ideas, we will use them for sure as they are clearly what the player base is looking for."
Blizzard: "While we agree that this game needs re-working and that these ideas could help the future of this game, we have no plans to listen to our fan-base at this time."
From what I've read pretty much everywhere when it comes to discussing the console port. Again, a few people in the community have made the whole D3 PC community look like a bunch of ungrateful dicks. I'm not even angry about the console port, or anything that their getting that we're not! If there is any! <-- not asking for a discussion about that.
But I guess we already had the reputation of whiney dicks when D3 first came out and people started voicing their opinions on the game and it being or feeling unfinished

That part about the controller feeling good sounds like it has little to do with the controller and everything to do with the way they changed the game to allow attacking while moving and a new dodging mechanic. Many of the popular farming builds that have emerged rely on attacks that can be used while moving and things that increase move speed. It seems pretty obvious that if every skill can suddenly be used while moving and you have a free new way to quickly dodge out of the way then the game would feel much better.
Neither of those changes inherently require a controller so will either of them be coming to the PC version?
I am probably part of the minority that's actually excited about the Playstation port. I remember playing the original Diablo on the PSX, with my best friend, some Mtn. Dew, pizza, and long conversations about all kinds of teenage stuff. They were some of the best times of my life and I'd give almost anything to re-live them again.
The games of today, the gaming culture of today, and the way we play the games of today never, ever have the same appeal to me. I may be getting old, I may be a part of a "dead culture", or whatever, but I just cannot fathom blowing tons of money on constant PC upgrades, waiting on patches, Googling ways to tweak my OS or hunting for drivers just to TRY to have the same experience. I could win the lottery tomorrow and build the best PC in the world and yet would still be unsatisfied. Gaming, to me, was meant to be played with friends, on the couch.

I agree with that so much. I mean I love PC gaming, but only for the fact that nearly all of the games I like are exclusive to it. I could go on all day about how great a console is compared to a PC, and vice versa. The best gaming experiences I've had is when I was playing with my mates or siblings back on the SNES, N64, and Xbox's (I'm not an xbox fanboy though). Nowadays they all just talk about WoW and more WoW <_<

Hi o/
I actually have a friend that bought an Alienware just to play games: AANNND he never plays anything on it.
And the big reason (he told me) is because playing SNES with someone one your side, laughing about dumb things, and just sticking together (major deal for him) isn't the same thing as talking over Ventrilo/Skype.
I tend to agree with him more than disagree. Although it's a very personal thing, and I love both types of gaming.
I'll definitely buy D3 on the PS3, solely for the "casual group of friends" experience.
I'm wondering if the lack of loot assignment also applies to online games. Is there even going to be a such thing as public games, or is it just something you assemble with your existing PSN buddies?
That part about the controller feeling good sounds like it has little to do with the controller and everything to do with the way they changed the game to allow attacking while moving and a new dodging mechanic.
Having two analog inputs that offer full 360 movement, while leaving 8 fingers free to mash skill buttons, has nothing to do with attacking while moving?
Torchlight devs tried direct move too, they concluded it sucks having only 8 degrees of movement with a keyboard and trying to manage your attack skills. Without the ability to mouse pan like in 3D games that is what a keyboard sticks you with, and devs will continue to design with that limitation unless something like the G13 becomes ubiquitous.
For movement = controller wins
For aiming = mouse wins
This is why we get platform/racing/beat 'em up games on consoles.
This is why we get fps/rts/menu (think civ) games on PC.
Diablo 3 has need for both movement and aiming. So if the extra movement or aiming will prove to be the most beneficial, I guess we will just have to wait and see.
One thing is for sure; if you want to plant your Blizzard 15 yards away a little to the right just next to the third barrel, you will find it a LOT easier/faster to do it with a mouse.
That's actually a good point you bring up there. I guess we'll have to wait and see how the targeting system works. Maybe they will implement a little aiming reticule for the right joystick and change the dodge button to L2. Though that seems like a bad idea haha/

The mouse is used to move so we already have full 360 degree movement, all they would need to do is decouple the primary attack from movement so that we can hold one of the mouse buttons to move and then whatever button we want for primary attack. It's incredibly silly that the keybindings menu doesn't allow you to change the buttons for primary/secondary attack or even bind them to additional keys though it does have one for just movement. For the dodging mechanic 8 directions would be more than enough using asdw or w/e you want to bind them to.
For melee classes, many attacks will already make you follow the mob you had your mouse over or move to where the mouse was, but once you get there you are still planted to the ground while the attack animation is in progress. For ranged classes, once you attack you become firmly planted to the ground even if the mob goes off screen and out of range. At the very least ranged classes should be changed to follow mobs at near max range for the attack they're using on it so that they can follow mobs similarly to how melee can, and if the console version can use any attack without having to temporarily stop then the PC version should be changed as well.

This works great as long as you only ever want to move towards and attack at the same location all the time. Which is basically melee farming builds that blow though everything near them in a few hits. The point of the Kotaku post was how your DH can now strafe and kite away while shooting at the same time, in case you were doing something other than easymode farming all day long. (Presumably the only time dodging would matter anyway.)

Do you have any evidence that ranged classes can attack one direction and move another in the console version or are you just assuming?

I'm from Diablo Expressions (did an interview as well, yet to be posted, will let you know when is Zero(pS)
I can 99.9% confirm you can. While on the 35-40 minutes of testing and playing on the demon hunter I got pretty good at laying down traps mid dodge roll away from an enemy.
Now while it's not an actually attack such as the bola shot they had ridged up, its still an ACTION your doing mid roll, and on another note completely, there is no system to hinder dodge right now, so you could dodge roll effectively forever.
Can answer some more questions if ya got any; glad to help.
I have a question that's been eating me up since I saw the glide mechanic for DHs. What's the point of vault in the console version?
I know what your talking about but not sure if its really glide or the female version of evading.
As I brought up in my thoughts, if your really good, the evade (dodge) can be used 80% where vault would be used...It opens up a slot for DH to use another Utility Abliity, which is big and different. Also Wizards stand to make out big along with WD (ranged classes).
Well I said glide while pretty sure that it was the evade female DHs get. The thing is I noticed vault on a key in a screenshot. The only real value vault will have is breaking snares. Not to mention every class gets "vault" and resource free at that. Quite a shame, it's such an iconic DH skill...
Dodge won't look nearly as cool though.

Are you referring only to being able to dodge a different direction than attacking (not what I was talking about) or can you truly move and attack different directions? If you can, then how exactly does targeting work to allow this?
Caltrops is an action with no delay on PC so you can already use it while moving or even mid Vault and whatnot without stopping movement. Do you know if any attacks that would normally cause you to stop moving on PC are allowed to be used while moving on the PS3?
Ofcourse it will be better then PC version...PS3-4 version have OFFLINE play (no lags,no hc disconnect deaths etc...) and NO RMAH !!!, and hopefully no normal AH also...
Funny, I play the game on PC and I have none of that stuff either ^^
HC ftw!
I have DCed once while playing Diablo... and it was in Diablo 2 cause the servers shut down or something, but everything was rolled back about 15min, so it was all good. Other then that, I have never DCed... maybe you need a better ISP?
But most of those are all features. The RMAH didn't ruin the way you experienced the game did it? It's an optional feature. Offline only matters for obvious reasons (shaky connection, sharing the net with family/friends etc.)
When we compare the two versions we can't just say that one is automatically better than the other because of offline and online play (for some people this doesn't matter), no AH or RMAH. Because they don't actually make the gameplay any better or worse, with the exception of offline and online play.
I don't mean to insult you in anyway and I apologise if anyone takes offense to this but when you say that the console is straight away better because of the lack of a RMAH and AH you make yourself sound like a bit of a whinge. Claiming that an optional service changes how you enjoy the game.
My point behind all of this? Saying that the RMAH and AH ruined Diablo is a lame excuse. You can do better than that!

I remember in D1 and D2 when i found Rare item, i was happy because it was RARE, also Legendary items were really Legendary and both was actually useful and wearable... D3 because of AH/RMAH loot is set to Rare=common, legendary=common and both on 99% craps that even vendor dont want...
So you never got into D2 endgame, I guess?
Doing countless Baal runs with guaranteed unique items (there were no "legendaries", just uniques)? An hour of D2 gave you way more unique items than you will ever see in an hour of D3. The amount of rares was smaller, yep; they're gonna fix that in D3, btw. However, it's not like every rare or unique was an update, hell no.
Even Baal on hell difficulty could drop "normal" uniques that were pure crap (remember the three levels of quality for uniques - normal, exceptional, elite). And the fact that rares felt like "yay" and not like "meh" as in D3 is because they weren't just worth 2k-3k gold at the vendor, but if they had this one single affix that everyone was looking for (+x to skill level) you could sell them for up to the gold limit and go to Gheed to have another shot at gambling. Rares without the skill level attribute were crap for 99% of players.
Look, I'm actually really frustrated that the console gets a lot of things I would've wanted to see on the PC version. And due to work reasons I'm on a D3 break, but to be honest, I'm also not motivated to come back right now; might be waiting for 1.08 or a later patch. When you say "legendary items were really legendary and both useful and wearable"... well, that's just not true; you would find unique items (sometimes even set items) within the first hour of a new game and they were crap, going right to the vendor.
