Why wait over half a decade for a game only to try to beat it in two weeks?! It's something I don't understand, but if it's what floats your boat, go for it.....
Just because you do it quickly doesn't mean you aren't enjoying the journey as much as someone that does it slowly. Diablo 3 is as much about store as it is face paced hack and slash gameplay. I can see the story and everything and still rush. Do I get less of the experince because I can absorb it quickly?
Do you get more because you take 3 months to do what I can do in two weeks?
I expect 1 day for normal. 3-7 days nightmare, 14-21 days hell, 3month+inferno
out of all the ramblings im only going to reply to this because everyone is just repeating shit thats already been said.
you people realize that IF it did take even a week to beat 1 difficulty spending 8 hours a day that means you'd be running up to monsters and dying every few seconds. or nearly every second for it to take that long. considering diablo has always been a short game in content, even when in D2 hell when you insta-died you ressed and ran strait back to where u died in mere seconds and repeated till you got through it. which didnt even take hours let alone days or weeks.
your all effing high if you think itll take more then a week for a good player to beat norm-hell. they havent said D3 norm-hell is way harder than D2 norm-hell. so if its the same then its literally guaranteed it will be beaten in a few days of marathoning like how i beat D2. seeing as thats how long it took for most people withOUT rushes (took about 2 hours to get to the end of hell with rushes :P)

"once the pretty hardcore gamers we had testing inferno found it fairly difficult, we then we doubled it" -trolololol jay wilson
The game likely operates differently, hitting a boss for 5% of its health, dieing, repeat 20x may not work in D3 like it could in D2. If you don't have good gear you can suicide all day long and not make progress.

If that made sense to you, Bravo! I think I even confused myself...
They have said that if you die while fighting bosses they will have their hp fully restored. (As in everybody int he boss room dies so the boss resets)

so you're comparing d3 to d2 in terms of how long it will take to clear the content? interesting...

"If you don't have a TV, then what is all your furniture pointed at?"
Ill race with you. Unlike everyone else here I don't drink the kool-aid. 2 weeks after release tops we should both be in Inferno and either cleared it once or damn near the end.
As I've done with every char I've rolled in beta, I will play through once for the gaming experience. Story, aesthetic, all that jazz... After I've finished norm difficulty on a character either solo, or with RLFs, it's game on... I've waited too long for this game to rush through and miss it.
I think it's fair to say that someone will have it beaten within 2 weeks - whether by their own means, through the use of a well coordinated group, or by some exploit...
I don't think the masses (I don't mean the majority of players so much as the bulk of "hardcore" gamers) will beat hell (and Inferno for that matter) for 3 weeks or greater... and I wouldnt be suprised if it took even longer.
Everyone talks about how quickly they beat D2 but most of those individuals are failing to consider how difficult D2 actually is if you try to solo it without overpowered hand-me-down gear, group assistance, and prior experience in the content (ie knowing how to approach encounters - this is something I haven't noticed many people even considering and it's probably the most important).
I realize I'm beating a dead-horse here but we just don't really know enough about the content to make any accurate guesses as to how quickly it can be conquered.
