May 21, 2012I personally feel that confuse with either the stun or the CDR is one of the best ways to deal with non bossses. And since bosses are easier anything at all can work for them. At that point I tripped out COMPLETELY and was all like
"I come here every #%^@ day, and fill up my &*^%ing car!!!!! I eat your *(&^ greasy &(^# chicken twice a $#@!ing week!!!! I collect your *(&^ callendars!!! I bought more tickets, and I've given you my business for years and this stupid *&^%ing little *&^%$ just comes in off the street, buys one *&^#%ing ticket and wins! And if that's not enough, you *&^$ing give her a mug instead of me!! She was already lucky enough to win the lottery, does she need a #$%^ mug too? A mug I can never have?!?! God it hurts like hell!!!! It's like...... *&^$ salt in my *&$%^ing wounds!!! I'm your biggest fan!!!!!! Why can't I have my picture on the wall!!?!?! I'll never be back here again!!"
Now everyone thinks I'm crazy.
I understand and often feel the same way. you should know we still love you here!

May 7, 2012If you watch the Barb video (with that cool monster) he is geared up in about 48-50 gear and has a DPS of about 1500. That means that with basic 'quake he will do 3,000,000 damage and best bash will do ~2,700 damage (stacked punish) before Armor/DR. Just some perspective.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion

No, you can't create your own server as far as I know. However you can indicate that you want your game to be
1: open to all players in your region
2: Open to all your friends in you region
3: Invitation only

Sorry, Didn't mean to derail, it was in the video which got me thinking of it. With that in mind, I feel that neither of these 2 are very likely to succeed since neither seemed aware of it. It's gonna be someone with a similar mindset, sure, but hopefully its someone even more well informed.

Also, reverse Diablo: you try to kill your friends hero who only have 3-4 of their skills, or try to kill generic heros. Not sure if it would be any good but might be worth a try

By "Heroes" they mean specific characters, not Classes.
I don't think this means you won't be able to pick some of the 5 classes in the Starter Edition. I think it's more like trying to log onto a high-level character using the starter edition. Still a little confusing since in WoW, you can lapse your subscription and then try to access an old character using starter edition, but Diablo 3 isn't subscription based...
Ah, that almost makes sense for the reasons you gave..
It's probably better that way too, maybe it stops you from playing a charcter that has reached the max level in the starter edition unlike in the Beta were you can play one character at 13 until the patch comes home?

How DR/armor is calculated
A List of defined Key terms (Ex. Critical Hit is a chance to do X bonus damage. The chance to Critically Hit is Y base + Z +a + b.)
How Resistances etc. are affected by the difference between character level and monster level
Monster level average by Act/Difficulty/Area/Quest
How buffs/debuffs/DoTs/etc. stack (Does no poison DoT damage stack? can different skills DoTs stack if they are the same damage type? different damage type? and how about from different players? etc.
Unwritten Skill mechanics/values (ex. what percent chance does unruned locus swarm have to jump to more than 1 target? any target? how many times can it jump? does it jump x times per second? etc. or How fast does Familiar attack, what is it's range, does it need line of sight? or Hungering Arrow Requires a bow equipped Grenades does not need a bow equipped)
How Levels change skills (ex. Cost +c/ level)
How green numbers change on any given skill. Levels? Runes? Gear (affix or damage)? Passive? Combination? Not at all? Etc.

Absolutely, but the dye color is removed. Dyes are not removed if an item is dropped/traded, though.
Something tells me this isn't entirely accurate. I highly highly doubt Blizzard will allow people without the CE activated on their account to obtain armor dyed with the exclusive CE dyes. Let's face it, Blizzard isn't in the habit of letting just everyone get their hands on exclusive CE content. It's just a hunch, but I think whoever was answering the questions misunderstood what was being asked and the answer provided only applies to standard dyes.
Re-read that response, the dye is removed from the piece. Ergo, you can not get any dye by purchasing equipment.

A group of three friends and I just ran through normal, nightmare and hell together without farming loot or really doing any runs at all... we just went from A1 normal to A5 hell. One person ended up dying in A5 to gloams and the other two lived.
Diablo isn't meant to be some super challenging game. Sure, it's nice to have things that are very difficult in the game and I'm sure there will be. But Diablo 1 and Diablo 2 both weren't super challenging video games. You guys act like they are dumbing something down that comes from a long line of super challenging games or something.
I hope the difficulty level is right around where Diablo 2 was. I thought that was great.
I agree except for one thing. Playing solo is much harder than playing co-op with the exception of certain builds on certain classes. I would like the game to be somewhere between the challenge of co-op and Solo for both co-op and solo(ie no impossible mobs but decent strategy required). I think it will be near this goal as you get into the latter 2 difficulties and signs of this will show as early as the middle of Nightmare. Now I feel I can get the Story I want in normal and the challenge I want later so long as Blizzard does not disappoint.
Nov 3, 2011Normal is easy because if you go through without grinding, twinking, etc. You can still easily beat the difficulty without dieing and by choosing the skills that you want (ie. not building an optimal build) I have only played D2 single player and I have never gotten gear on a character that that character didn't find and I only had problems towards the end Of nightmare. This is how I expect Diablo 3 will be with the difficulty except there will not be enemies who are impossible to kill for a focused single character in the higher difficulties and other aspects of the game will give new challenges. But since no one has played the whole game, we really have no idea what they mean by phrases like 'ramping up' and 'a small wall.' When we play the game then we can compare the difficulties to that of D2.Posted in: News

Each skill currently has a cooldown of 30 seconds, so this change would most likely make it advantageous to simply use the Mantra every thirty seconds.
I feel that this is off. the change will make timing crucial. Why hit mantra of healing just because the cooldown is off? wait until you have something to heal I think.

Dealing with vendors

I Largely agree with this point. Picking up loot, targeting specific creatures and area powers (leap attack, corps spiders, etc) are going to be where the design challenges lie unless they want some clunky thumb-stick cursor *shudders*. As for the item management, vendors, and skill selections they may use something similar to the resistance (1&3) weapon wheel which works very nicely (think of having 4-12 skills on a page and each page named as they are separated currently or items separated by slot/class pages). It would definitely need some reworking and innovation due to sheer quantity, but its a start. As for stat browsing and the actual inventory, I do not know...
