All subjective. Tbh you can get mad whenever you want. Just realize that you come over as an immature kid and/or retarded when you whinge and whine on forums, crying for "justice".
Skyrim took only 3 years to release. This game is a massively open world filled with literally limitless randomization of items, quests, and the dialog evolves beyond initial conversations. People will change their attitude towards you as you progress depending on the plethora of factions you can join.
Diablo 3 is a dungeon crawler with randomized maps, and items, BUT contains fixed locations, NPC's, and dialogs and has been in development for 4 years.
So riddle me this. Why is it taking longer than Skyrim (which is massive by comparison) to make D3?
You spelled patience wrong. This isn't a medical forum.

Okay guys so I get all this stuff, I get what the fanboys say and also what the haters say.
I just have one question for all you people who say "stop whining the game will be out when its ready" and all these things. Please try to answer this honestly.
Would you still say that if it is the year 2015, 2020, 2025 and it is still not released? Basically, my question just like the OP tried to get through i think is, when would you lose your patience? Even the most die hard fanboy has a limit. Lets say 2080 when you are dead.
So, when is your date?
That is exactly what I was getting at but kept being interrupted while I was in class bored making the post on my iPhone. When is it enough waiting? When has blizzard officially taken to long?
Skyrim took only 3 years to release. This game is a massively open world filled with literally limitless randomization of items, quests, and the dialog evolves beyond initial conversations. You can really compare Skyrim with a game that hasn't been released yet imo.
I do kinda get your point on the 3 years dev time = best game of the year award against the 6,7 years dev time = ??? I played Skyrim with one character, only one (I have to admit a total time of more than 110hours). I started playing with another one, 3 hours later I'm bored and I'm 85% sure I'm not gonna play the game ever again. After only 1 or 2 months of playing? That's not good. And it was riddled with bugs.
Also, Skyrim is one big fixed sandbox, and there's not really anything different after playing again after doin 98% of all the quests and exploring the whole map. So for me no real replayability, unless you divide the map up in 6 equal parts and play each with one character. The only real replayability is the fact that you can join either the Stormcloaks or Imperial Legion (there's probably more, but can't think of it.)
I didn't follow Skyrim's dev time, but I'm sure they sticked with everything from the beginning and changed very little. Diablo 3 on the other hand, geez it went through probably half a dozen overhauls. They maybe could've released the game in 2010/2011 with or without the RMAH and it would still have been a kick ass game and would have made bilions and broke records. But it's Blizz, they only release a game that's basically bug free and if they are 100% satisfied with everything. When they release the game this year it's gonna be even more kickass.
We are very negative with the changes atm, but once we play the game we'll probably say: "ahhh, so this is why they removed the SoR and CoJ, I get it". They won't change core mechanics if it wasn't necessary. And they're not doin it to spite us, they want to release the best game that have ever been created! :Thumbs Up:

So riddle me this. Why is it taking longer than Skyrim (which is massive by comparison) to make D3?
Because Diablo 3 is better than Skyrim
because..... (i do love bestidia works and elder scrolls)........they dont have jay wilson and the other guys on their team
the bestidia team are like a 18yr old male, starts fast, keeps pumping it out and then finishes like theres no 2moro
diablo team on the other hand are like me....32 yr old male,.....we start slowly, paying attention to areas that the 18 yr old doesnt, pushing it to the max, we steadly build it up to a godly explosion, then wen it looks like thats its gona over, we delay the euphoria for (1 year) and then BOOOOOM the pleasure takes hold of our bodies as if the angles of heaven entered our souls as we hold the disc for the 1st time
i was talking about eating lasagne, i always take my time
Bethesda not "bestidia"
Also to speak about pumping out as fast as possible and how they're worried about that then why would Blizzard team up with someone like Activision? A new call of duty every year with a 2 year development period.
And Todd Howard (executive producer and game director) is 41 years old.
The point still stands that a comparatively massive and more complex game was developed AND released within 3 years, which in it's own right is amazing and I personally haven't stopped playing it since it came out, where as Diablo has been in development for 4 years. I have no doubt that Diablo 3 will be an amazing game, but when you polish a game too much it becomes something completely different from what it was supposed to be which is what leads to missing these release windows. Honestly I hope next time they are developing a game they don't announce it until they have a definitive release date.
I didn't follow Skyrim's dev time, but I'm sure they sticked with everything from the beginning and changed very little. Diablo 3 on the other hand, geez it went through probably half a dozen overhauls.
Skyrim went through major overhauls. The game mechanic jump from Oblivion to skyrim is immense and even down to the last minutes of release Skyrim went through changes (i.e. the removal of custom spells). The system changes were drastic and new elements that were introduced have made the game so much better.
Also with the overhauls I have addressed with my previous comment. The major reason they overhaul the game so much is because they sit there and "polish" the game and tinker with the mechanics so much that it becomes a giant waste of time and you end up dumping the entire thing. Honestly right now I'm thinking one of the main reasons they haven't paused or ceased development on the game is because 1) they've released far too much information; 2) they've invested far too many resources.
I read just first post so sorry if I am repeating someone, but...
If you are getting angry or nervous about the game not being released, you should probably ask yourself, why do you have such an empty life. It's not an insult, it's a fact. There are always things to kille time with if you are mature (and therefore patient) enough. Play something else, go out, study hard, work hard, whatever. If you will wait for D3 release just by browsing forums, you will die of a boredom.
Would people like you have this same calmness about it being out when its done if the game was delayed till 2030?
Btw I believe this is SOOO stupid. These comments about empty life or w/e. All these comments, because of the simple fact that this website/forum was made to talk about Diablo, ups and downs, highs and lows. This is a low that we are talking about.
Its called being passionate about things, if you cannot be passionate about many things in your life i have to ask "why do you have such an empty life?"
Yeah that was exactly why I wrote "It isn't an insult".
Of course this is a forum about D3. About game I am absolutely eager about. And I did in no way hinted that everyone who follows the game has no life and I actually don't care about that. I even wasn't talking directly to the OP. I just think that when you experience real anger in a real life due to D3 delays (which will make the game even better and probably playable for many years), there is possibly some problem with you. I cannot really imagine how would someone who lives a real life with all SERIOUS problems complain about few months delay of a PC game. Of course I would like to play the game right now. But should I be making angry posts full of emotions on forums? Or probably quit my studies, job, stop communicating with everyone because I am that angry? No, I don't think so.
My advice is -.just wait, be patient, do something else and we will have the game in our hands eventually. I'm not writing this for my pleasure, trust me, I don't care if you will cry every evening that you don't have d3 yet. I really don't. But you will have your life much easier when acting maturely.
Quitting a job or those scenarios no, never. That is a complete over reaction. I guess we have different definitions of angry. For me i just "feel" angry but it does not in any way shape or form affect my day to day life. One can be angry about something like this for a hour or a day or w/e time and still function perfectly normal and live you life.
So back to my question, a few months is fine, but we do not have a release date yet. Would you be fine with it if blizzard tomorrow announced "D3 has been delayed till early 2030." ?
Actually my patience just ran out recently. When they missed the mark of 2011. Then a blizz blue is asking us to vote for diablo as most anticipated game of 2012. Imo it was most anticipated of 2011, im not going to vote for a whole new year of polling in diablos corner because blizz effed it up.
I will buy the game none the less, but Blizz is VERY dependant on a fanatic fanbase. They miss every single games deadlines. Then pull stupid excuses. Imo all these changes in the new patch and that article Jay wrote last week was a joke. That is stuff that could have been internally fixed ages ago. And they feed us the most pathetic lines... "we are just polishing" etc. The mystic?!! Them stringing fans along is suuuuuch a joke its unreal. In this regard i am glad they cancelled blizzcon. I dont need to be fed full of bullshit that is going to get changed anyway.
@OP when blizz asks umadbro? I reply madashellbros.
My patience is out. I'm willing to obtain a beta key any way possible. May marks my 6th year registered here at Diablofans (or when I first came, it was diablo3.com). And I have been following development of the game religiously. I never miss announcements, I never miss updates. Watching all these kids play the beta pains me. I bet a lot of them aren't a third as dedicated as I am.
I dont think mad is the correct word. Dissapointment is better i think. And it is ok to be dissapointed in the time frame. Really we have been waiting for 10 + years for a expansion to the Diablo series. It is ok. I even sent in a letter to Blizzard in 2006 stating this. And asking how could they let such a good game not continue. It made money last time i checked. I even stated that i would be fine paying a montly subscription for it. But did not like the fact we were even given that as a opportunity, Then in 08 BAM lol announcement. Yesssss. Dont be mad at them they are working on it . It is being built . But time frame does matter to Blizzard. Look at how many salaries have been paid for the past 10+ years building this. I do not think they will make their money back at all. But with expansions yes if they do not take another ten years to put out. Which i doubt they will given that it is being built in house where they can keep eyes on everything.

Very, very true. Playing the beta has made me turn 180 degrees on a LOT of my stances. While no one can stop you from commenting, you simply can't have a complete opinion without trying it.
On that same note, skyrim is in NO way anywhere near D3, two completely different games, save for the fact you use sword and spell. Skyrim did not change much at all during development, while D3 is vastly different then the late 2008 video we got.
Getting angry because you don't have the game now is childish at it's most basic level. Would you be happy with the 2008 version? Probably, if it was released then. Would you pick the 2008 version over the version today? I'm willing to bet hell no. Blizzard provably makes the best games on the planet, you just have to give them time. When this game is released, and it's 10 years down the road and people are still rockin it, you won't even remember all the QQ over a couple of months.

Yeah, not to mention the game has 2008 graphics in 2012! And there's nothing innovative but a $$ making auction house for Blizzard
Omg I know. And D2 has like 2000 graphics, those poor people who still play it 10 years later... And don't get me started on WoW! The most successful game on the planet! that's like... what 2004 graphics? EWWWW! I wish they would just do some ultra realistic graphics! that way they are outdated in no more than a year! Yea, Blizzard is dumb, why do a painted style that won't age, but instead compliment the game. Dumb Blizz.
Then enjoy being mad at something as nonsensical as a game release, the dumbest reason to be angry ever. If the game got cancelled, sure, but losing your temper over a delay...
And please refrain from the fanboy schtick, unless you aren't a fan of anything.
The right answer would be, anytime you want to, because it'll be at you own expense.
Look, we the customers are the boss. End of Story. You can say whatever you want to the contrary it doesn't change the fact, that if we don't buy product, then Blizzard wouldn't exist. See the numerous studios that have shut the doors.
There is a certain amount of responsibility of both the customer with patience, and the producer with a quality product in a timely fashion.
So there is a graph you could draw that could display were the patience out runs the quality of the product. Because it's based solely on each person it varies, but you could say that the producer has a chance to out run most customers patience.
Having patience is a virtue for sure, but infinite patience is for suckers. There is a line and it's dependent on each individual. If Blizzards pushes the release date to the 4th quarter, that is the line for me. I won't be buying it.
