me i dont care much about online only, since i play world of warcraft every day since 6 years.... but my friend whos living with me, he plays Diablo2 since the day i showed him that game, and he bought it, since 3 years ago... i m extremly scared about seeing him having an online account and having his account hacked 2-3 times per week
i wish ALOT to have blizzard reconsidering this, and allow safe solo mode without an risky online account.
not everyone wants to play online ! he will still buy the game, and paying like everyone else. his thoughts and his wishes as the same value as everyone else.

Without an offline mode, there is no risk of hacks.
and other kind of hacks ????
how many warcraft accounts have been hacked so far in 6 years history ?
Hacks (dupes, map mods) are not the same thing as Little Timmy clicking on a phishing link and getting his account hacked, Blizzard can't fix peoples stupidity.

The question isn't why do I kill. The question is, why I don't kill everybody.
God why do people miss the fact it doesn't matter if you have broadband or not which i do but yeah it all matters on the location of servers..... Ping is going to be killers for some...
I think the operative assumption is you won't need much conversation between your pc and the servers to play alone.
True. I actually just watched a video of an aussie playing the beta, and he was talking about how even though he had a higher ping, the unique connection that D3 has made makes it easier to play. No idea if it's true, but he says that actions like attacks, and damage to monsters is actually client side, and is only 'checked' by the server afterwords. The only things that are server first would be picking up items, and monsters dropping loot (for the major things).
Again I can't vouch for the merit, but figured I'd talk bout it =P
Games that can be played without a server connection are going to get pirated a lot. And online games that have direct connections between clients are just too easy to hack. The only way that PC releases will ever keep up with console releases, is by requiring server connections. It doesn't make it impossible to steal. Lots of people play on private WoW servers for instance. But it does make pirating inconvenient enough that most people will just buy the game, if the prices aren't too unreasonable. But that's a whole other topic. :/
I think in the future, most big budget games will require online connections, and stand alone games will mainly consist of low budget $5-$30 fire and forget titles.
im impressed someone is keeping it in an old topic instead of making another thread on the subject, kudos
As said, when you play a single player room (and not a public room) your ping is handled in a unique way it seems.
if you re-use an old topic : people will insult you... saying you are a necro
and if you are making another one , they still insult you anyways ... saying you are too dumb to use the search feature
not my fault if i only recieved my beta invite last week and i m just starting to read forums
it was the very first thing i ve check when i ve started the game didnt see the ''solo mode button'' /cry
2,095,006,005 out of 6,930,055,154 people in the world have internet. and the majority of the rest of the world without internet have bigger things to worry about than diablo 3. like getting killed or starving or living without any technology or at least no computer or TV.

i ll have to separate my 2 accounts in case. no way i ll love to see my warcraft account being ninja AND have my D3 ninja too in same time cause they are on the same battle net.
and about stupidity of people clicking on phishing... sorry but you dont need to click on those and give your infos to have your account pirated !
Why would Blizzard want to sell the game world wide when they can sell it to just a part of it, its not like they do it for money they do this for passion.
did you see what i posted? 2 BILLION people have internet worldwide and the majority of the ppl that dont, dont even have computers. so fuk off crysto and stop trolling.

So 1/3 population has any internet. And? Its a good point. There is 2/3 that don't have any internet + who knows how many that have crapy internet.
So thanks for posting this.
