Okay I just ran into another champion pack from hell. The little burrowing creeper things again (they really suck) just outside of Queen Arenea's cave after you finish her fight.

They had Mortar, Plagued, Horde, Illusionist. My screen was covered in shit to the point I thought I was going to have an epileptic fit. You couldn't stay at range and you couldn't get close. Bascially you were fucked. Gave up after about 10 wipes and just made a new game.

While were down again - sigh - I thought it might be entertaining to see what combinations of abilities on rare spawns have given everyone the most trouble. If your going to post one please also include the mob it spawned on and a short reason why this combo of mob/abilities made them so tough.

Heres a couple of my hardest.

Act 1 Inferno - Mob: scavenger (burrowing leaper) - Abilities: Fast, Vortex, Jailer, Waller
This was unbeatable for me after multiple attempts on my Wiz. I could not kite them at all and they hit too hard to stand still for any length of time. You literally could not get any distance on them at all.

Act 4 Hell - Mob: Morlu Incinerator - Abilities: Illusionist, Mortar, Jailer
Wow - nuclear meltdown! My screen was covered in so much red shit falling from the skies it was painful to look at! I can only imagine inferno giving this group a 4th ability.

Act 1 Inferno - Mob: Unburied - Abilities: Extra Health, Health Link, Fast, Vampirific
Impossible to kill - nuff said.

Act 3 Hell - Mob: Phasebeast - Abilities: Invulnerable Minions, Teleporter, Vortex.
This guy was such a pain in the ass it wasn't funny. All the jumping around of high damage guys that you couldn't kill was fun enough. Now try to keep your eye on the boss that you can damage in the middle of all this.

I can't think of anymore that have really caused me nerd rage like these ones. If I run into more I'll add em. Feel free to tell us your champion-caused tales of woe.

posted a message on Possible Repercussions of a Premature Release
I agree also. A premature release might make some things difficult to swallow.

With scrolls of reforging item inflation would be a problem. Everyone would always expect only the best items, and before long only the 'perfect' items would have any value. I know I hated it when I ID'd an item just to find it's damage sucked, but realistically there has to be many low quality items for the few high quality ones to have any value. Now if i would just find more of the high quality ones the world would be perfect...

posted a message on D3 won most anticipated game of 2012!!
When looking at GT's list I can only think they really like two things... Consoles and Shooters.

Good to see a PC non-shooter top the user list. I'm personally really sick of the thrill-kill overdone shooter games.

posted a message on Giving White Items Some Value
I can agree with the just reduce their drop rate if their worthless comment. Who really cares about a mountain of loot if its worthless. Lets face it, I'll take a single gold brick over a boxcar of shit. Unless your just really into shit, you probably agree.

If they were to make the items at least useful for something you add some value/purpose to them. If they stay so worthless that they aren't even worth selling to a vendor, why even have them in the game? Just more shit on my screen.

As to using inferior items or just item types, I would have to disagree. It defeats the purpose of adding value to these hard to get whites if you can just use the normal version to make a elite item. If you want to make an inferno level rare provide the same inferno level white. This would create a very viable trading economy for items that otherwise just waste pixels on the screen.

I guess most of all I just hate the idea of a totally useless item. What purpose does it serve?

posted a message on Giving White Items Some Value
Since the current consensus seems that white items are a total waste to even pick up for sale now, I think the dev team should consider a way to give them some value.

In D2 there was Charsi and her Horadric Malus making those junk whites rare. There was also sockets and runewords to consider. So while whites in D2 were usually no biggie, they at least had some use.

So here's an idea. Make them a necessary item for your blacksmith to craft with. So if you want him to make you an axe-of-uber-death you must bring him all the materials +the axe. Gives the whites some value, especially the harder to get high level ones.

posted a message on Bonuses for Polearms + Other large weapons
Look on the Arreat Summit weapons list and you will find that large weapons such as polearms and pikes have a 'rangeadder'. This was the number of squares away that the weapon would strike from. In the case of the best ones this is a 4, which essentially quadruples your range. Trust me when I tell you it is a huge bonus. Don't believe me make a whirlwind barb with a Pike and go run thru a big mob of flayers or something.

posted a message on [Idea] Diablo 4 (Diablo Prequal, Angels and Demons?)
I'm hoping that Diablo does take the plunge with an MMO. It has all it takes for a great one. Rich history and backstory, opposing factions, and an excellent choice of archetypes to roll for characters. While D1/2/3 characters have all been human, theres really nothing keeping them from introducing new race types as character classes.

Personally I would really love the idea of 'hybrid' races with human/celestial or human/demonic crossbreeds such as Aasimar and Tieflings (stealing D&D terms). Hell lets get really crazy and let people roll Abyss Knights or Fallen Shamans... I see me rolling a Bone Fetish already...

    Well heres to hoping!

posted a message on Downloading D3 direct from Blizz
I was pondering whether to DL the game direct on release or go to a midnight release party and snag a hard copy. While considering the +/- sides of each I decided to DL it for a couple of reasons I figured I would share with the board.

First - Preload. As it will almost assuredly be available to DL before release it will be nice to have it pre-installed and ready when the servers finally open up. since I want to be there to add my lag to the overwhelming of the servers causing a first night crash, this accomplishes that goal... :o

Second - Physical media is outdated. Having to have the disks to install a program is sooooo 10 years ago. :P Really unless your wanting all the CE stuff you might as well just DL.

Third - Blizz Profit. This one is kinda strange, but in direct downloading from Blizz you increase their profits. You ask why you should care? Well how bout if Blizz rakes in more money they will be more apt to support and expand it? How about if you want to see a D4 then D3 better be a resounding success for it's developer? How bout just being a loyal fanboy of Blizz and giving them the money instead of places like Wal-Mart, Best Buy, or Gamestop?

Since I was bored I figured I would share my little insights. Anyone else have a revelation feel free to share...

posted a message on Diablo 3 Economy is like a Ponzi Scheme
    Quote from pulloface

Hi guys! Long time lurker, first time poster here.

The author of this topic is actually a troll. If you look around other diablo 3 fansites, you will find that he's copied the exact same topic in their forums.

I assume this is done to provoke people, and to make them visit his blog (which is a d3 gold farming guide... I know, right?).

My point here is, don't let me stop the discussion, but don't click on his link. It will generate him more ad revenue, and encourage further troll posts.

Ahhhh... A Troll Gone Fishin... Whats worse is he caught me - I fell for it and bit.

posted a message on Diablo 3 Economy is like a Ponzi Scheme
I find it baffling the number of doomsayers who get on these boards and preach that feature X in a game they have yet to even play is going to be a complete failure. Even if you just state it as opinion its just one of many bitchy opinions adding to the general noise.

I have this wonderful idea.... Lets wait until the game's been released and we've played it for awhile to start making these gloon-&-doom judgements. Honestly, you state this prediction as fact, and you are at best making a wild guess. I'm predicitng that there is some mechanic already in place in game to manage the economy, both with gold and items. If there isn't one at release I'm going to make another educated prediction and say that Bliz will patch in something to do so.

Why don't you take a Prozac and relax. I'm sure the sky won't fall, and if it does they can always patch in a new sky.

    Quote from Danthraxx

The only positive thing I can imagine guilds/clans in D3 would add, thats not already coming @ retail, would be the fact I get to see less people in chat with annoying stuff in their names.

"{*s*p*DONUT*a*m*}Doug has entered the game" is retarded :P

    Totally Agree!

posted a message on Weapon swapping?
They aren't including a weapon swapping capability on release, however it wasn't in the D2 initial release either. I imagine if there is a use and enough desire for it they will patch it in.

Also remember that you shouldn't have the inventory problems in D3 that you did in D2, so if that was it's main use for you then it should be a non-issue in losing it.
