So.... what's up with ads on the main page?
I'm not sure whose behind the cash flow from clicking this ad, but whoever is responsible should remove it asap.
How often do you see blogs/websites that have ads staring right at the person, visiting the site for the first time.
Honestly, my very own initial imperssion was... "Great... another money banking site."
My point is, you never want to welcome a first-time visitor with an Ad that is blatantly obvious.
If the site owner's moral is correct, he should value the growth of Diablo community more than the money itself.
Not the other way around, otherwise this community won't get very far as far as Diablo 3 is concered [Its quite obvious hes already trying to turn this website into a cash flow] - Makes me want to cry indeed.
If I was in his shoes, I'd shut down all ads and keep it clean as possible for the new comers and those who are already a daily poster on diablofans. I don't care if theres ads or not, because I dont click on them. But does it annoy me? Yes.
Will it attract newcommers? probably not when the site is welcoming you with ads.
Does the site look professional and friendly? From the initial impression, most unlikely.
You can stick up to support the owner, but in reality, my point something of an important concern. I'm not completely against this site making money, but not like this. Not putting ads on the main page for everyone to see.
You gotta be some moron to have guts to stick ads up like that. Do it in a calm manner and something that won't be too eye appealing. If you've watched the success of facebook through the movie "The social network" putting ads on your site is a big "No-No". You can decide to make $2000 or 2billion, its your call.
I'm writing this because I love this website, and the community. We all love diablo games, and soon or later more people will join us. This is all for the better of them and you, whoever the owner is.
P.S - Before you reply to this thread, do me a favor, go click homepage and take a good look at how it's structured. And then... reply.
EDIT. I use Firefox (+ ad block, idk if this matter) and I see nothing, but with IE, I get one between the digest an blue topics and one below the final post. Anyway, I think its an acceptable amount. Someone have to pay for this.
Could be worse.. we could have those ##@$$ pop ups that follows when you scroll the page. lol that would kill the site.

lololol zerg4hire ... would you rather wish to pay for the information and services you have access to at diablofans.com? No? So get an ad-blocker or cope with the little advertisement you find here. It seems you have no idea of the capitalist world we live in. Nothing is free of charge. Curse obviously has to pay there hardware and human ressources.
Besides, the ad industry is a big fuckin goldmine if you know what to do. I've worked for a big company specialised in e-mail marketing and ads. It's hillarious how much money they obtain each single day.
As soon as I discovered Firefox, I discovered adblock, and then I discovered it works on video ads, too, and I fell in love.
The best part about internet advertising is if you have an adblock program, the sites you visit still get paid to host the ads, but they'll never bother you in the slightest.
So as far as I'm concerned, Load em up! stick 20 billion of the things at the bottom and rake in the cash, I'll never see 'em.

Only used NOscript and some security adress add before I saw this thread, installed Adblock now and it's great, thanks!
The answer to the question is simple... Curse pays for everything and Curse says ads go there. I agree with you, I hate looking at ads on websites, but unfortunately, that is how it has to be, :(. However, once you login, there shouldn't be any ads, I believe.

All I will say is that this site is owned by Curse. Just so you know, no actual member here is controlling the ads or profiting from them.
I'll let Sixen take it from here.
