I've modified Steps 3 and 4 to incorporate Expand/Hide buttons. This should help with some of the scrolling too far up/down inconvenience. You'll still need to build your equipment profile by Saving it, but after that you can pick which one you want to modify (weapon or armor) and expand accordingly. Still working on other ideas on how to improve end-user experience.
May have answered already.. Still scanning.. When you swap to a 2h weapon from 1h + offhand, does it automatically not count the Offhand? Or do you just need to clear the stats in the Offhand boxes as well?

The way I coded it, if no weapon is selected in "Off-hand Weapon" pull down menu, your "off-hand weapon" stat boxes will be automatically zeroed when you press the calculate button. But you do need to manually zero out "off-hand item" stat boxes. I did not make the "off-hand item" boxes zero out because demon hunters can use 2-handed weapons and an off-hand item.
Because mojos aren't actually weapons (you don't attack with the mojo), you don't need to select anything in the pull down menu. Just put the stats of your mojo into the "Off-Hand Item" line. Please note that "Off-Hand Weapon" and "Off-Hand Item" are different lines because they are calculated differently.
We just added a Primary Stat input field under Class/Companion skills. This is for inputting random +stats that might appear on items such as set bonuses (+130 Dexterity, etc.).
However this had an adverse effect on saved profiles for Step 3 (companion/class skills).
If you have a saved profile at our site (http://www.theasiangamer.com/), please make sure to correct your values, and Save Profile again. I disabled expand/hide temporarily for this section to bring it to your attention, and will re-enable it in a day or two.
Well, a few graphical changes. Not a lot of updates recently, so I started learning how to use photoshop. Replaced a few buttons on the page to look and behave like actual buttons, to give it a slightly slicker look. Further reduced the step layout to make it look like "1-2-3-done."
It was also brought to my attention that the bonus Holy damage from Inna's Blessing might not be working properly, depending on your current items. Unfortunately I cannot address that with meaningful math, so input set bonus damages at your own discretion.
I am fairly certain other +bonus effects from items like Tal Rasha items work though. Just input the bonus damage in the Step 2 section.
We just added functionality for Wrath of the Berserker / Insanity rune. Unfortunately I don't have a 59 barb to test this out with, so I'm hoping the math behind it was right. That completes most of the class buffs I think, aside from Blinding Flash (Faith in the Light) which doesn't appear to grant an exact 30% anywhere in particular. I'll wait a bit before adding that.
It's time I started working on our next browser-based project... Mwa ha ha ha ha.
Like its predecessor, this calculator is completely browser-based. No spreadsheets, no programs to download!
Save/Load Profile is completely independent of the Player Damage Calculator. Save/Load away, just note you cannot use this functionality without allowing stored cookies for your browser. The data will survive on its own for 35 days unless handled otherwise.
Works for all levels of Followers, even if a follower level is not possible (like Level 1 Enchantress). You can play around with it as "What if..."
I did not incorporate external buffs because I cannot think of any +damage boosts for the follower that come from a player besides Mantra of Retribution - Transgression Rune. If you'd like to add that to the mathematics, just add an "8" under an attack speed column of any item.
In addition to the new calculator:
added a brief tutorial video for both calculators to illustrate the practical applications of using the browser-based calculator.
improved mathematics: dual-wielding without +% damage weapons should be 99.95% accurate now. If you were off by 1-5 damage before, try .00-.05 damage now.
Still some error with the Enchantress Follower DPS calculation.
In-game shows 9009 , calculator shows 9935.
Yowza, that's some serious DPS your Enchantress is packing. A difference of 926 damage means a real DPS deviation before the Enchantress DPS multiplier of -80% = 4630 raw damage. Which is quite a lot.
Unfortunately with the information given, the only troubleshooting I can offer (shooting in the dark here...):
are the details in the extended damage summary lining up for you? If the weapon DPS doesn't line up, then input values for the weapon were probably incorrect. (i.e. no elemental damage is needed to be added, no +% damage is needed to be added, just the displayed "white" A-B damage)
Is the enchantress buff box working for you?
If you can send me a list of her items (since there's not a whole lot), I can help troubleshoot some more.
I get a few thousand Europeans using the calculator daily, so I added some tooltips for the item slots to try and bridge the language barrier: simply mouseover the (?) next to the item names to see an image depicting the location of the item relative to the paper doll. You can admire my shoddy photoshopping dimming skills while you're at it.
Avg Main/Off damage for those who do not care about attack speed should be coming in fairly soon. Soon™.
As requested, we've implemented the display for average damage per hit, for those who do not care about attack speed.
You can view this information by expanding the "Damage Stat Details" information at the bottom of the calculator to see your average damage per hit for main-hand and off-hand weapons (if you're dual-wielding).
If you want an explanation for what that information is, mouseover the (?) next to it.
Hope everyone has found some usage in our calculator, at one point or another!
Thank so much for this insanely accurate calculator. Tested for the 10th time now and so far has guided me to a decent DPS upgrade for the THIRD time, that's right THIRD TIME!
MORE POWER SIR!
ps: please don't make us pay for it... most asian gamers don't have access to credit cards esp in my country, if you drop by though i'll give you cash.

Haha, cool. Glad you found our calculator useful and accurate.
No intent to make the browser version cost money to use, maybe only for a mobile app in the future? (just thinking aloud). The original idea behind the calculator was to help me find upgrades, because all the other calculators around the net were inaccurate and/or frustrating to use.
Things will definitely change once the armory feature comes out. I don't foresee inputting potential gear you're buying to be any less difficult than it is now though, mostly because of the random stat nature of items.
performance wise it's alot better. I am at a very crappy laptop right now and it is fine - just as it should be.

This should further reduce the need of scrolling up/down the page to see change in damage.

We've created a Follower Damage/Gear Comparison Calculator v.1.1!
This is to honor those solo players out there. I know you exist, and I know you also care about shopping for your companions!

+Damage change if you add +1 Primary stat, +10 Primary Stat, +1% Item Attack Speed, +0.5% Crit Chance, +1% Crit Damage, +10% Crit Damage.
Next on the list of things to add: Average 100% Weapon Damage for Main Hand/Off Hand.
edit: renamed weights to equivalencies for conciseness and confusion avoidance
